Are others struggling with this error as well?  When I open the game, I'm prompted to log into the Cerberus Network with my EA info.  I click "Continue" and I -immediately- get "Error.  Communication with Mass Effect 2 server was interrupted or has timed out.  Try again later."  Here as some quick facts about what's going on for me:

I HAVE the Mass Effect 2 PC Collector's Edition from GameStop via preorder.

I WAS able to activate all my promo codes on the website.

I was NOT able to register my game, and get "Code is not valid for game" when I try.  I suspect this could be because I entered that code as a promo code as well when I was activating the others.  Not sure.

I WAS able to download the free DLCs through the site and currently have Blood Dragon Armor, Terminus Armor and M-490 Rifle, Collector's Edition Armor and Weapon, Zaeed, and Normandy Crash Site listed as my DLCs on the site.  This also matches the list of DLCs the game states it is unable to verify when I try to play.

I HAVE enabled port forwarding with all of the ports listed in the readme file that installs with the game.  I have also enabled the port forwarding through my firewall as well.  Additionally, I have even tried disabling the firewall completely, disabling my antivirus, and disabled all security on my router to the same end.

I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one with this specific problem.

Same thing here. I'm waiting right now to live chat with an EA agent.

I chatted with them about a half hour and they weren't able to figure anything out. I hope you have better luck, and -if- by chance you do have better luck, PLEASE post the chatlog/results here.

you guys could try changing your auto-login settings to not auto login. then try registering with a different account - but DONT redeem cerberus. then reboot the game (since auto login it off), and now login with your real account.

not sure if itll work, but its worth a try. we arent getting very many issues like this. it *could* be isp related.

This occurs before we even get a chance to login. Upon getting the prompt that I should login to Cerberus, I click Continue and then it comes up with the Please Wait... for about 10-15 seconds then the timeout message. I have attempted with auto-login off but this is occurring before that even comes into play. My roomate on the same network is able to connect just fine. I've set all ports on my router and have no firewalls. Any ideas?

I tried what Michael said and it worked, but I can only log in with my newly created account, and I already redeemed my Cerberus code for my real account.

That's a seperate issue in relation to code activations

What I meant to say was I already used my Cerberus activation code on this site for this account. I just created a new EA account inside the game, and for the hell of it I tried redeeming my code for this new account, and it actually went through. I'm guessing the connection problem comes from redeeming the code through this site and then trying to log on in the game. You guys should give it a shot and see what happens.

Again, our issue is before we even get a prompt to log in. Before our game cares or looks for any authorization or codes.

Anyway, after some time with Wireshark and going over my network settings I found the issue was related to some tweaks I had made to my network config in Windows 7. I haven't had any issues with other sites except ME2 connecting to Cerberus and I was unable to bring up customersupport.ea.com. After changing these back to the defaults I was able to connect to both. If you have messed with your network stack and want to return to defaults, easiest way can be from saving and running the tweak file here:

http://www.speedguid...TcpIp_patch.cmd

Let me know if it works for you!

Infraded, I have some hope with the process you explained above. However, I'm a bit embarrassed to say I'm unable to get this file to run as it's intended. If I try to save it, it saves with a .txt extension, and if I just open it in the browser it just shows the text.

Rename the file and remove the .txt extension at the end. You should be able to run it.

The problem was with Firefox not saving the file properly. I saved it using Internet Explorer and it ran fine. I did everything mentioned above. First tried optimizing, then restoring to defaults, did the restarting, and nothing... still nothing works. I'm at a loss here.

And just to clarify, Ifraded is correct that this specific issue isn't related to the EA account info, but with the game connecting to anything at all, to begin with.  Even with disabling auto-login, creating a new EA account, whatever, the game will not get as far as to even check these things.

Still nothing on my end, and EA support has yet to contact me back.  Perhaps the only difference between my issue and everyone else's is that instead of lagging for 10-15 seconds and giving the connection error mine does this INSTANTLY.

Don't try to monopolize a thread you didn't even create.  The OP, if you had read it, mentioned code activation as well.

I had this problem as well, but I talked to EA Support person and he was able to fix the problem for me. I'm not exactly sure what the problem was, but it was fixed and I was able to access the Cerebus Network and my add ons. I am on Windows 7 home premium X64 platform. Make sure you tell the support person if your XBOX360 or PC because my problem took longer to solve because of that confusion. Also it took me a few tires to get the tech because I would reach my turn in the queue, but there would be no agent available so I would get kicked off and have to start all over again, but I finally caught one. Best of luck to you all.

That was the problem. In my first message to the support person as soon as the chat opened I told him that I had the PC Collector's Edition, and described my problem in great detail. About 20 minutes into the conversation he started giving me Xbox links, and I had to remind him I was using the PC version. About 40 minutes into the conversation he links me something about how to activate codes, and I explain my problem, as I stated plainly in the very first sentence, was related to connecting to the servers. It took 40 minutes for him to understand what I said in the first sentence and then he escalated me to a department who has yet to touch it.

Also Typhaeon, the only code thing I mentioned was that I wasn't able to register it on the site. I honestly don't care much about that. My problem is the connection issue in the game, same as Infraded was having, except mine still isn't fixed.

Having the same issues here, when i log in it asks for my guardians email (wth? why does it assume i'm underage in an M rated game) and then if i click past that it immediately goes to timed out/interrupted.

I created a new account just to see what would happen and am able to easily and repeatedly log in with that account (which is a pity as i've already redeemed all my codes)

Talking with a rep now, hopefully he can help.

Yours is different. Mine won't even let me get to a login at all.
