Wait a while.

Most such fixes tend to not work for too long, reinforcing the feeling of "timed out". Wait some time/hours/days (depending on how often you exit the game), and see if it's still working.

This is no longer an issue for me. Is it working for everyone else now?

This is the PC Tech forum, not the XBox 360 Tech Forum.

I'm using steam on windows 7 64 bit, registered the game and promo codes some days ago and today had the same problem.
Just solved by logging to this bioware site.
Then cerberus login worked fine after asking my ea login info that are the same for this site.

Not only is that single run-on series of words strung together without any resemblance to proper case, or punctuation, quite lacking in clarity, but for some reason, it's been attached as a comment to a thread to which it appears to have no connection at all, in the wrong forum.

Refer to this, and start an independent message of your own, posted in the correct forum, applying the standard business practices for spelling, case, and punctuation please:

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/131/index/2012975

P. S.  (Added in edit later) The comment in the ME-1 Tech forum is more clear, that's step in the right direction.  But it still didn't comprise a standard problem report.

Personally, I have no experience with the problem covered here in this message thread, but there have been a great many more threads on the subject than just this one, and a professional search engine is a far superior route into the local archives. Just add a redirector as part of the criteria to limit the range to this site:

site:social.bioware.com

If a better way to search doesn't help, and Kloreep didn't cover it with a FAQ in his compendium, please begin your renewed request with a new thread of your own, starting from Pacifien's guide to reporting, pinned as a sticky on top with "Read First" as the first two words.

(Oops, sorry Kloreep, for messing up your name the first time!  Fixed it now.)

I'm sorry for reviving this ugly topic, but I just fixed this issue for myself. I have multiple network adapters (some virtual for my smartphone), and all I did was disable every one of them except for my primary adapter. This fixed the issue for me and it logs me in automatically now. I suspect that ME2 sees the multiple adapters and kinda freaks out, not knowing which one to use. I hope this helps everyone else.

I keep thinking I've fixed this issue, but it always comes crawling back after not playing for awhile. I've tried just about everything in this thread and nothing sticks. Is there really no permanent fix for this crap? Nice effing job, EAware. =/

I still can't seem to find a way around this issue. Guess I'll never get to play the DLC. Also, I did the command-prompt thing suggested in the sticky, and that seems to have slowed things up a bit. Is it worth undoing, and if so, how?

If you paid for DLC and can't play it, contact EA customer support and get them to refund you.

To undo the ECN disabling, simply type in the same command, and replace "disabled" with "enabled".

Any connectivity issues to the Cerberus Network seem to be local PC related at this time. If disabling ECN didnt work, I suggest turning off your firewall, and starting the game in admin and XP modes. If that doesnt work, post your specs as per the Read First thread, and we'll see what we can do.

Not everyone may make the same stupid mistake I made here, but I had this problem and was scratching my head for hours. Eventually I realized that I was running PeerBlock - which was stopping me from connecting to Cerberus.

Just thought I would contribute a solution to the thread, as many people run peer blocking software.

For me, I do have two adapters set up. One is necessary for a VPN and is not always connected, but it's annoying to disable and re-enable the VPN adapter. I find that I get the error the first try, re-log (and it connects), exit, start the game again then it autoconnects. I do the game's restart because I also will occasionally get an error that all kinds of extra content will be disabled before I can re-log.

(Purchased the retail box, but Origin has automatically added it so I'm using the Origin-D/L version with the extra add-ons DLed separately.)

Just chiming in to say that disabling other adapters fixed the problem for me. What a glitchy mess they gave us.
