1) Click start, go to 'All Programs', then 'Accessories', look for 'Command Prompt'.
2) Right-click on Command Prompt, click on 'Run As Administrator', if you get a security prompt, just choose continue or allow.
3) in command prompt, type, "netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled".
4) Exit Command prompt, and your game should be working.
This applies to any EA game that attempts to connect to an EA profile online. I'm very curious WHY it has this effect.
Hope it helps!

I still keep getting "Error. Communication with Mass Effect 2 server was interrupted or has timed out. Try again later"

I search about command of Jenyar and I found these in complement :
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled
netsh interface tcp set global congestionprovider=none
netsh interface tcp set global ecncapability=disabled
Maybe the use of all of them helps someone.
But not for me ...

I have to turn off PeerBlock to be able to connect to Cerberus, otherwise I get a "timeout" message.
It is possible to add an exception to PeerBlock (whitelist) to allow the Cerberus connection, but it's just simpler to turn it off.

Error
Communication with the Mass Effect 2 server was interrupted or has timed out.
Please try again later.
I have no anti-virus software installed and the only "desktop" firewall that is running is the one of Windows 7, which is running just "as is", meaning I haven't made any changes to my network configuration. I am behind a separate firewall. But even connecting directly to the internet doesn't help.
I'm unable to authenticate the DLC due to this problem and the only way I can play the DLC that was coming with the game is to use a crack.
This is really annoying; not only that the DLC adds DRM to the game, which isn't working. But also the fact that I have to use a crack for a game that I rightfully own.

I had the same problem, untill I tried these.. I.. I really owe you.. Because it worked just fine for me. But it seems a bit wierd, all of us.. Or at least me, played the game two days ago, but earlier it just wouldn't work.. I can't imagine it has anything to do with any of our systems.. It has to be EA or something...
My OS has not updated since i last played so it can't be that.. But hey, what do I know..
Anyways.. Thank you so much, I would hug you if you were here!

I'm a little tentative trying any of the above solutions without knowing what they do or how they could affect other applications. Hoping for a solution from BioWare/EA's end.
edit: I should have noted. The only reason I'm not playing without connecting is because I have heard that save game corruption issues can result from this. Can anyone confirm this?

No idea what might have caused it since my pc configuration did not change compared to yesterday (when it still worked).
Bioware, help us out here.

Hi all. For me it was also related to an obscure internet speed tweak that seems to disable EA's sites. Here's the solution I found (works for Vista and Win 7):
1) Click start, go to 'All Programs', then 'Accessories', look for 'Command Prompt'.
2) Right-click on Command Prompt, click on 'Run As Administrator', if you get a security prompt, just choose continue or allow.
3) in command prompt, type, "netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled".

Well, it suddenly started working again (I'm sure it wasn't an issue with my pc, since browsing and other online games still worked). Whoohoo!
