As far as the TCP settings are concerned, only the ECN Capability setting matters. This is a Vista/Win7 thing, not an XP thing, and will kill ME2 every time (and some other games too). The other TCP settings are not a problem for ME2 (on Win7 anyway) but you can seriously knacker your internet speed if you disable everything as some suggest. I say set them correctly for your connection after research or leave them alone and only touch ECN. The following is a quick batch file, save it as a text file with the extention .cmd and run it as administrator. It'll let you turn ECN off and on when you want.

@echo off
set /p choice="Allow ECN? [y/n] >"
if '%choice%'=='y' (netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=enabled) else netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled
netsh int tcp show global
pause

Now, you may have other issues as well and if the above doesn't work, I suggest resetting your network equipment (router hard reset and re-enter the settings on it, and/or power off your cable modem or similar device) and ensuring ME2 is set as being allowed through your Windows firewall. If you use a router try forwarding the ports, or turn on UPnP instead (UPnP seems to be enough for me). You can always declare your PC as the DMZ in the router settings to count out forwarding problems, but I suggest you work those problems out if that works as it's not a good way to run. Similarly, if connecting directly to your cable modem works then you know your router is the issue and will need fixing.

Currently having similar issues and tried the fixes here. When I do try to redeem the codes on the -website-, it told me it couldn't get a response from the server and pointed me at the registered promotions page.

Edit:

Fiddled around a bit more, and made a note that it lets me log in, through ME2, to my EA Online thing.  So ME2 is getting -out- there, it's just that I think the Mass Effect specific servers, on EA/Bioware's end, are muckered up somehow.

Edit 2:

Have the Disc-based Collector's Edition, if that matters any.

Just to get the specific message I sometimes get, when it doesn't flat out tell me it doesn't recognize the code:

"No response received from remote server... please check your Registered Game Promotions page to confirm if your promotion has been registered."

And for reference sake, when it doesn't recognize the code:

"Unable to redeem code. Code not recognized, please check that you have entered it correctly."

Oddly, it hasn't flat-out said things were invalid.  I suppose that's a good sign?

Edit 3: EA fixed everything when I finally got ahold of a rep.

I jus bought the CE yesterday, and I'm getting the same crap. I can't even use my promo codes on here.

I tried the majority of solutions listed above. The only two I haven't tried are resetting my modem and opening routers. I just want to access the Cerberus network before I play the game and it's driving me nuts. I connected tech support and they were useless. If there are any more suggestions out there I'd like to know about them.

I have the same problem as Kal. I go to activate the Cerberus network in the game and it tells me connection to server has timed out.

I try to redeem the code(s) on the bioware site and it says Unable to redeem code.

I would like the full experience when I start playing ME2, so please, any help would be much obliged.

just installed the game today and I'm having the same issues.

However I'm running windows XP Pro if anyone cares and I have a disc based collectors edition. Another thing to note that I was able to get few promo codes for the game from the DrPepper but I can not redeem my Cerberus Network activation and gamestop promo codes.

I'm having the same problem. I just installed the game today and I'm getting the message that "communications with the Mass Effect 2 server was interrupted". When I try to register for Cerberus Network online, It says that the code is invalid. This is frustrating.

I have this problem also, it does this even if I turn off my antivirus. I even try opening ports in router and it did not help(but not really sure I did it properly, i never bdid before becouse no other game needed this) - but I think this should be functional even without opening any ports. (I also have simmilar problem with DA I was able to log in previosuly but suddenly I can not - I hope there will be some fix for this soon!)

I'm having the same problem too. I can't redeem either the cerberus code or the collectors code.

When redeeming on-line I get either "Unable to redeem code. Code not recognized, please check that you have entered it correctly" or "No response received from remote server... please check your Registered Game Promotions page to confirm if your promotion has been registered." and nothing is showing in my registered promotions.

Inside the game I can log in with my EA online account but can not redeem the ceberus code. It instantly replies with a error message stating "Communication with Mass Effect 2 server was interrupted or has timed out."

Can you give us some more specifics on what you did to get your stuff to work?
I'm sure we'd all appreciate it if you did.

-Thanks

i dont know if it was something i did or EA fixing my account without telling me (no email or messages).
Here is what i tried...

-> Under my profile on this website I went to "Register Games" and removed my registration, then re-entered my ME2 CE serial #.
-> then i logged out and relogged into both this  web site and the EA user site.
-> plus waited 24 hours.

good luck!

Thanks for the response.

Did you wait 24 hours after logging back into both sites before trying your cerberus code again?
And how did you enter the code (through bioware site or in-game)?

-Thanks

EDIT**

We just may have found a fix.
  • I went to my profile page, unregistered my ME 2 CE and then re-registered it.
  • Made sure I was logged both into Bioware profile site and EA home site (not the store)
  • I also noticed on the EA site that my account was unverified, so i asked for a verification email from them to verify my account.
  • Logged out of both sites (Bioware and EA home)
  • Logged into both sites
  • Maybe 15 minutes later decided to load up ME2
  • Went into options and turned off auto-login
  • Went to activate Cerberus, and it worked!
I'm not sure how many of the above steps are actually necessary for getting Cerberus to work, there seems to be a lot of variables in there. But I recommend in giving them all a go and hope for the best. Maybe someone else can find a efficient means of getting it to work.
For now, this seems to work.

Good Luck to everyone else with this problem, and feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions. Thanks for the help dmcdeavi

yes. 24 hours before trying the code.  entered it here on the redeem page.
then the download page loaded with all the goodies.

good luck!

Thank you dmcdeavi & ESREVE12 !! Your step by step guide above fixed everything and I now have access to all downloads. I didn't even have to wait 24 hours, or even 5 minutes. Cheers!!
