So what is the general consensus towards Spirit Mark post 1.10 patch ?

 

Personally, I find that it has great synergy with Static Cage (with Lightning Cage upgrade) when you use the Wisps of the Fallen. Otherwise, it is a spell that works on Normal and Elite creatures, including Giants which is a nice touch.

 

Has anyone discovered other uses for Spirit Mark ?

Personally, I don't find it useful at all. 

 

If the spirits were able to draw aggro, then it would be a great spell. As it stands, there are various issues with the AI. Most often, they just stand there doing nothing. Also, the rank of the spirit raised is irrelevant because they always deal 75% (150 with upgrade) weapon damage.

 

Wisps are much better, but they don't seem to fire often unless you're auto attacking, which you don't do a lot of mid and late game. 

To be honest, the only really useful thing in the necro tree is Walking Bomb.

If you are running Dorian on AI, Wisps of the Fallen is a good force multiplier for auto-attacks, but last night I finally decided to disable the ability. That purple "net/cloud" it creates makes it hard to see what's going on. It's like the Necro version of Toxic Cloud.

I was also going to disable Horror, but I toggled to the Terror upgrade and like it a lot better now. Just hold still while I line up this combo ...

Ultimately, I'll probably respec Dorian to have upgraded Walking Bomb only and use the points from the left side of the tree for something else.
