I'd say it's definitely worth it, all of them. A lot of people say that Dragon Age 2 isn't good even but I liked it a lot, I think the whole trilogy is worth getting.

The Dragon Age series boasts a lot of the same storytelling and character development aspects that are also in Mass Effect in regards to role playing the character the way you want, making world changing decisions, and developing friendships or relationships with your companions.

Just as the Shepard you create in Mass Effect becomes "your Shepard" the protagonists in DA will become your Warden, your Hawke, and your Inquisitor. While your characters don't carry over from game to game your choices certainly will.

DA takes things a step further than Mass Effect in that they add in a lot more companion voice acting. Banter isn't limited to elevators like it is in ME1, companions are regularly having little side conversations among themselves as you stroll throughout Thedas.

I haven't had any problems running any of the games on Windows 10 although you will probably have to run them in some sort of compatibility mode the first time.

The biggest difference between Dragon Age Origins and pretty much any other game in either trilogy are is actual origins. You have six origins to chose from, 12 if you count the subtle dialogue differences/romance options between male and female. I would recommend trying out each of the origins you are interested in to see if one of them really calls out to you, as they don't take that long to play through. For me it was the City Elf and has been my favorite play through of any game in either trilogy.

Happy adventuring!
