In real life, I believe I am 5'10"/1.778 meters in height; I want my character to be my height.

I like them as a developer, but their character creators leave much to be desired.

Certainly not a free selection I think. A selection of heights/body types would be possible, since they effectively do that with races in DA, but I don't know if it'd be worth the resources.

I don't see why not. But, then, this is Bioware we're talking about...I like them as a developer, but their character creators leave much to be desired.
I hate it when the truth hurts.

I am not opposed to a list of preset heights. BioWare, make it happen please.

I'll be okay if they included something as little as just a different model - one short (like 5'6?), one average (around 5'9-5'11)and one tall (6'0-6'2, that is taller than most NPCs), kind of how Star Wars the Old Republic did (but without making you either Captain Steroids [tall] or the Noodle Man [short]). Would be easier than having many different heights, but still gives you the choice. .

If it had been me, I would have phrased it in a pseudo-demanding way, then titled it so that it appeared that I was specifically challenging the lack of one variety of height, while actually making subtle puns about how it would be nice to have a variety of heights in the main text. Finally, I would sarcastically mock the ones who clearly read the title, but not the body of the main text.
Edit: Oh, and of course, include a video of a song mocking short people. Even though no one will click it, it makes for a good conversation starter.

Sort of like this.

You just maxed out your renegade bar.

I want multiple races and multiple heights. I want to play as a Krogan of very small stature on my first playthrough and as a 6' 2" Volus with washboard abs on the second. So, yeah, I also need an abdomen editor.

I think it will look silly tbh. It would look uneven and weird somehow. I don't know, I like it the way it is now.

BioWare has not the best history with animations but they still make 4 different body types work in SW:TOR. Sure, those probably come down to 2 different heights... but that's a good starting point.

Well they're gonna have to if they include multiple playable races. You can't have everyone being the exact same height. What if it's a Krogan?
And Garrus was always taller than Shepard......both Shepards.

While we're at it, why not a dongle size slider as well?
What? Saints Row had that. Is Mass Effect too good for Saints Row? God, you people make me sick.

You are aware that the player can only be human, right? There are no playable alien species.

To be fair, SWTOR was also reportedly the most expensive game ever made until GTA V. Supposedly the budget was somewhere between $150,000,000 to $200,000,000. The purse strings are going to be a lot tighter with Andromeda.
That's not to say that they can't introduce different body shapes in the CC, but there's probably a bigger risk than SWTOR that there would be some trade off elsewhere in development.

I also believe that SWTOR had instances where the player height was set to a default height during conversations where the player's model and another's model interacted with each other. I think I saw a video of this wherein a tall player was "shortened" to fit the standard kissing animation with a shorter companion.
Basically, I think, scaleable or selectable height and weight for characters causes additional difficulties when it comes to animations in which characters physically interacts with each other.

The Force Awakens cost 200 mil according to Wikipedia. Are you telling me they had the same budget? No wonder EA freaked out when they started losing subs. That is crazy.
As for different heights. It's one of those cool things that costs more than it's worth in a single player game. In an MMO, you want your character to look unique among the thousands of other players. In an SP campaign, it doesn't matter so much if your notShep look a lot like your best mate's NotShep because you never see them standing side-by-side. Add that to the fact that almost everyone will choose a similar height when given the chance, the extra animation cost make it even less desirable.

I think they do this sometimes when it's just a talking head conversation so they don't have to change camera angles but when my body type 3 (tallest) Jedi Knight kissed Theron (BT2 - average) on Rishi he bent down to do it.
That sounds rude...

I'm all for additional stuff when we're talking about personalizing our character. That being said... Have you seen most some cutscenes for dwarves and qunari in DAI? I would prefer for them to have set height for PC if it meant less awkward cutscenes like those.

Whoa! Resizing can make for a lot of weird proportions; probably humorous results until you get it tweaked 'just right.' I had a difficult time just trying to design a custom FemShep face that didn't look too gaunt with horrible protruding cheek bones. Lot's of game start-overs and spent too much time trying to tweak it. Hope it can be done for those with similar interests.
For a variety of different CC heights, would it be so hard to dev a game with 4-6 different locked height choices (and/or body sizes) for both sexes, instead of having a continuous sliding scale option between 4'11 to 6'6"?

In addition to height customization, which other games have the better CC menus, options, and features for height preferences for the PC?
