^ I watched the first few episodes. It's an interesting premise and the star's acting is phenomenal. I fell out of it for a couple of reasons: the switching between people got tiresome because I wanted to follow along a bit longer; and the necessary jumps to ordinary (that is, non-clone) stuff were boring, but perhaps those have fallen away now that it's been on so long.
But you might as well give the first couple of episodes a go. Watch out for Felix, the breakout character and a fan favorite.

I could really do with a TV series that's dramatic but not full of woe, misery and death. I don't watch many at once, so it's just been Battlestar Galactica, The 100 and TWD recently. Not exactly laugh-a-minute! Don't think I'll be picking up GoT anytime soon after how they handled various plot points and characters previously.
I was bolstering myself with (often endearingly cheesy) Sleepy Hollow, but I'm really behind and not likely to catch up soon since I watch it with my dad. Plus was spoiled that there's a
So I need something else that has some light-hearted tones mixed in with the drama.

RWBY is pretty good for an animated show, if you've not checked it out?
It does start off a little slow and most of the early episodes are extremely short, but it really does start to hit it's stride midway through Vol 1 and completely by Vol 2. The writing, running time and animation all do improve with each subsequent season.
That being said, you might want to wait to watch Vol 3 if you're not in the mood for shows that get a little dark... without spoiling anything, there is definitely a tonal shift from the slightly light and fluffy nature of the first two seasons.

ugh RWBY
RT should have canned that show two volumes back and focused on RvB instead.

I kinda don't like what they did with RvB in the later seasons. It gave up a lot of its dopey charm in exchange for ludicrously choreographed action scenes and faux-dramatic reveals.

Its still got a good bit of dopey charm, but I do agree that it has lessened in quality of late.
I just really don't care for RWBY

Everyone keeps telling me that I should watch Orphan Black.
It is good, although it takes a bit to get into.
I have meant to go back and watch it from the start, but the Beeb has idiotic scheduling at times and/or doesn't advertise some shows as much as they should.
I sorta drifted from the show midway through S1 and S3, then totally missed all of S2 and S4. Since the Beeb head honchos nixed BBC3 which was the only channel they showed Orphan Black on, I'm forced to rely on Netflix marathons if I want to catch up! ![]()

well I guess this episode of GoT was better than last week's, not a whole lot good happened besides
Other than that it was pretty dull and I'm pissed about the big character death

I enjoyed the episode for the most part. I liked the Tyrion scene especially. Although you can really say that for most episodes.
I'll be looking forward to the flashback scene shown in the next episode promo.

Yeah, it was a much better episode of GoT this week.
I'm surprised that you think that nothing much happened, Steelcan.
Am I the only one that is so ****** sick of Ramsay ****** Snow? Ugh. We get it. He's a spoooooky villain and he's craaaazy and he's daaaaaangerous. Blah, blah, blah. He's also incredibly one-note.
On a totally different note: On Fear the Walking Dead, the "badass" character was just revealed to be gay and, despite the fact that the actor is openly gay and we know absolutely nothing about this character outside of what we've seen in only 5 episodes and that there are no other gay characters in the show at all, people are, predictably, losing their minds over this. "SJWs are forcing gay characters in every single show!" "Liberals are ruining my shows with their agenda!" "I'm done with this show if they are going to turn Strand gay!!!" It would almost be laughable if it weren't so sad.

^ I've read some posts here and there on this season, but haven't watched it yet. I can assure you that you certainly are not the only one. I quickly got tired of him in my recent rewatch of season 5.
Truly, one of the best things to come from that character was a gif of him waving a sausage around. Terrible in the scene, of course, but the gif was hilarious.

Yay a badass gay character! F all those other people! Given that the main show has gay characters, I don't know what those people thought... I'd have assumed that the audience would be pretty much the same. Did they really not expect to see any gay characters in a franchise that has featured them? "Thank the Lord for Fear the Walking Dead, my only haven away from... DAMMIT!"
I like those whole "turn" him gay thing too... Presumably he was already gay and you just didn't know it.

I suppose I'd better get back into GoT. It's been a while, because a lot of it is just depressingly grim to me.
Mostly, I just think Martin was too kill happy. Shock value is all well and good, but my attention became so spread out between characters I hadn't had nearly enough time to get to know.

Ramsay was a lot better before he became a serious antagonist, having him on the side was a lot more effective, but since he worked so well there I think the show writers (understandably) wanted to have more of him around since they clearly liked him more than the other antagonists. They just went too far with it.
Spoiler
as for this, I'm not too keen on any of it. The intro for the Crow's Eye was poorly handled imo, all they've done is feed more stupid "Tyrion is a secret Targ" nonsense, and gave us more Bran.... hooray?
With that said, I suppose they are to be commended for finally advancing the plot.

have you read the books?
Also, Martin is significantly less kill happy than the show writers are. It seems that because the show got the reputation for being kill happy the show writers are intent on keeping that up even if the deaths are increasingly nonsensical.

All but the most recent, I think. I'll get back into it, but I should probably re-read a few. I remember spending a lot of time in Dorne and on that island the Greyjoys are from.
I did not like what Martin did with Catelyn Stark post red wedding.

Loosely related, I've probably shared this before, but I still love this video.

Actually, there isn't many characters that I do like. Sometimes I have to ask myself why I read/watch this ****.
I like Jaime in the books but dislike where they've gone with his character in the show and I'm kind of hoping that Sansa becomes a BAMF.
Daenerys, though, is my all time hated character. But I think I'm in the minority with that one.

Honestly, I don't think you are. Her arc has been extremely exhaustive, and she's presented in some ways as a savior archetype, which is something a writer should be very, very careful with.
I used to like Dany, but I'm just tired of her story. There are only a few characters I like left. I sympathize with Sansa, but don't enjoy her the way I do Tyrion.
I feel similarly about Catelyn. I've never been very fond of her.

^ I just cannot get over how she treated Jon Snow. And it's not that I'm a huge Jon Snow fan or anything, it's the principle of the matter. Blaming a little baby for something (she thinks) her husband did just pissed me the hell off and colored any view I had of the character. In the show they tried to mitigate it with a completely contrived scene between her and Robb's wife about this time that wee Jon was sick, showing that she actually did have some tenderness toward him. That was never in the books and it seemed like the show runners threw that in there to give her some Mommy Points.
I feel the same way about the way Cersei thinks about Tyrion and the way Goldanna thinks about Alistair. F people who think that way and treat people like sh*t for it.
[edit]
And yeah, I get the whole, "Every time she looked at him it was a reminder," kind of thing, but be pissed at the husband, not the child.

Oh I understand why a lot of people don't like her, though I do think some of it's a bit overboard (I don't think I'll ever get over that Tower of the Hand favorite character poll where she came in after RAMSAY SNOW). I spent a lot of time defending her on the westeros.org boards a few years ago but I don't think she's perfect or anything. My other two favorite ASoIaF characters are Jaime and Theon so I obviously dont have a problem with ~flawed characters.
And I absolutely hated what they did to her character on the show. I guess they were trying to make her more sympathetic (removing the "it should have been you" line, adding that awful it's all my fault "because I couldn't love a motherless child" one), but to do that they basically had her do the literal opposite of what she did in the books. It wasn't too bad in season 1 but by season 2 every scene she was in was pissing me off.
So yeah, I have a lot of thoughts about Catelyn. Ironically, I think it's the intense hate towards her character on the westeros boards that really pushed me towards loving her.
