I live in the Deep South, I'm not from here. ;) Born and raised out West.

Ah my bad. :P

Since it shares its obsession with the Imperial system with North Korea, I suspect the USA needs to have a serious word with itself on the subject of its choice of measurement standards.

Quite astute, old chap, but I'm Canadian. Just having a spot of fun at the expense of my fellows in the Commonwealth. God save the Queen and all that rot.

That popped out at me too, I've never heard anyone pronounce it that way.

A good point well made, old bean, but it doesn't change my statement one jolly jot, eh? ;)

I bet you wouldn't have said anything.  You'd have just thrown some tea in a harbor.

I can not in all good conscience endorse this statement.  I'm sorry.

She's Australian, right? They also have "'Boxing Day" and eat Vegemite. I suppose saying "Skeletal" differently is par for the course.

Australian's say "skel-ee-t'l"? I'd really like a link of Morrigan saying skeletal, because I'm Australian, and I sure as hell don't say "skel-ee-t'l".

When I pronounce 'skeletal' I say "skel-eh-t'l". There is only 1 'e', therefore, it has to be a short sound, and "ee" is a long sound.

It's not just regional. I'm in Canada, and my biology teacher pronounced it like Morrigan, and I don't pronounce it like Morrigan. There are a lot of other words that have different pronunciations that don't depend on location, like "either/neither", "lever" etc.

I'm in Canada too (Ontario), and I always pronounce it Skel-Eh-Tel and that's how I was taught in school.

Well then i have to say that you two live in a breathtaking beautiful country

I have no idea.. I just wanted to discuss Vegemite, to be honest.

So this entire thread is about judging other English speaking peoples around the planet because the do not pronounce words like we in the United States do?

Way to go at sounding like a complete douchebag.

I pronounce advertisement as "ad-ver-tis-ment" and say "y'all" and I was born and raised here and have lived here for the last 50 years.  Oh!  And I also call carbonated sugary beverages "Soda" rather than "Pop".  Would you like to make fun of me as well?

Take it easy, no one's really making fun of anyone else.

Except me. Because I'm evil.

Oh Maker, don't let Anora give another rousing speech. The army wasn't so much charging the darkspawn as just trying to get away from her.
