What do you think of having a group like Cerberus for the alien races? I think it's kind of odd to only have a human supremacy group for that one race and none of the others. And by Cerberus I mean how they were pre-ME3, you know... not stupid evil.

The other races seem to be like cerberus in many ways. without having a group. IMO

The Salarian League of One. Except that was years before the events of ME1.

Yeah, just look at the leadership of the other species in ME3, all fighting over their (by comparison) petty, isolated struggles as the galaxy falls apart around them. While, ironically, the humans were diverting all their forces to stopping the Reapers while their homeworld burnt... so, if anything, there needs to be less Species Centric races in ME:A, in my opinion. I'd rather not have the humans be, unrealistically, the most altruist/pragmatic/non-self centered species in the galaxy. Cerberus was just there to balance out the weird savior complex humans acquired over the course of the original ME trilogy.

Since we, the survivors of the Milky Way on the Ark will be in the role of refugees/colonizers, it would be interesting to complicate us, as a force upsetting the balance of power amongst the "native" residents of the area we arrive in, as opposed to making the native races be divided into a subservient welcoming people and like an angry species who wants us off their lawns but are also "evil" because the plot needs a villain. But, I doubt it. Safe bet is humans swoop in and solve all the problems of a new group of species unable to overcome their own biases.

In the create-a-companion thread, I kind of had this idea that the STG would be a good alien counterpart, and thought of an instance when the "Council" species cooperated to take it down.

I agree. Everyone has a Cerberus already, more or less. Or if anything, just pride and self preservation.

Dear gods, the Illusive man was right. Cerberus really is an idea, one that can't so easily be destroyed.

Batarian Cerberus: You are all a blight. Repent!

Krogan Cerberus: Humans are soft, Salarians, Asari, soft. Quarians....not so much. Turians? Gotta know how to work a blade I guess.

Vorcha Cerberus: Graarrrrgh! In Androptika everyone will be Vorcha! We are president of EA now!

Hanar Cerberus: This ones heart is pure, but beset by the wickedness of the lesser slave species.

Volus Cerberus: I want that Quarian arrested for vagrancy. She could have almost stolen my chit if I hadn't dropped it earlier.

Turian Cerberus: You humans are all racist!

Drell Cerberus: What is the sound of one neck snapping?

Elcor Cerberus: With aggressive overtones; Go back to where you came from.

Geth Cerberus: The Geth harbor no ill will towards organics. Creator Xen, we wish for you to be comfortable in your extinction. Would you like to look at baby earth animals as we fill the room with gases?

Quarian Cerberus: We live in envirosuits, lost our Homeworld to our iphones and a common cold could kill us all in minutes. But these hips don't lie do they?

I'm pretty sure we called that one "the Council", or, alternatively, whatever national government was in force at the time. The entire Turian hierarchy seems like it's a Turian supremacist group, and the Asari aren't honestly that far removed. The difference is that the Council races are already at the top of the pile, and they've already divided the galaxy between themselves in a way they are totally happy with re: their supremacy.

What about a conglomerate of several species that ends up believing they are descended from mass effects version of sithis, who plot/murder/ignite galactic wide civil unrest and utter discord. We need a mass effect dark brotherhood, we'll call the group... the super seven!

If other species get a Cerberus-like faction then they need to be everywhere in the setting. They be constantly beating the allied forces at every area of science, espionage, and resources despite the fact that practically all of their plans end by blowing up in their faces. This faction also needs to have entire comic book series devoted to how awesome and great they are. They also need to supplant the ancient, eldritch abominations as the true threat of the universe. And they need to be the most obvious example of a writer's pet in the entire franchise.
