Oh, being a bad guy is overused in of itself, even in RPGs.
Any game with a moral choice system pretty much its expected, and there are games out there, both computer, japanese and so forth, that put you in the shoes of a "evil" character, albiet its uncommon compared to other scenarios.
Semantics of the word aside, the point is that's a story trope in the end that's been used before in gaming. Hopefully it is used well in Tyranny.
I was talking about working for police state. That's not remotely cliche.
Option to be crazy jackass is a cliche in Bioware games hower. They can't really allow you to decide anything important, so instead they give you random unimportant punchbags. There are seemingly important choices like allowing Project Overlord to continue, but from meta-game perspective you knew they are evilz and would screw up anyway. So you are basically torturing a guy for the sake of it.
