People think they're paying more? Idk the hate here is confusing me.

A seasons pass is essentially preordering the dlc they have planned for the game and the cost comes out at you're usually getting one of the dlc free at the end. And they sometimes put a goodie in with the dlc like saints row 4 put an alien probe in theirs.

What it means is that a game is going to at least have X installments of dlc. They say how many on the description text when you buy the season pass. If the pass says 4 dlcs and they only give 2 then it's false advertising. If they have more dlc in the works they can release it outside the seasons pass. Made a season pass 2 or what bethesda already is doing add it to the first seasons pass as a bonus "we love our fans"

You are right and it is completely optional, but at the same time the practice itself is what I don't like.

With your example of Fallout, it really bugs me that it became a "you must buy the Season Pass now before we increase the price" so the illusion of waiting until all the DLC has been released to make an informed decision if you want the content is gone because they told people that they are increasing the price really before people can even evaluate the first DLC they release.

The other problem I have and its why I don't buy Season Passes is that it seems to be a money grab because they know people don't buy all the DLC a studio produces. The longer a wait between the games release and DLC is released there are less sales its why normally DLC stops after a year for not enough people are buying it to support another.  So they get people to buy DLC by showing it as a sale and get extra money based on DLC sales that people might not even ever download, but they paid for.  Of course it might not be that way, but if there are a lot more people buying a season pass for a discount and not because they are wanting to play that DLC to me it becomes a ploy to get people to pay more for the game then they would normally.  Its like a Steam Sale, for people always talk about their backlogs of games they have never played.

I don't really have a problem with season passes. Maybe because most DLC is crap imo, so I don't buy much of it. Plus, consumers soaking up anti-consumer bull is nothing new and will never change. Whether its this or something else.

Here's my take on it, for people (like myself) that want to get all the dlc for their favorite games anyway, a season pass is a great way to save a few bucks. I can't imagine a day where I wouldn't want all the dlc for a Mass Effect or Dragon Age game.  It's not like you have to buy a season pass; so having the option to do so is a good thing.

Personally I don't really care either way, but Biower should just so I can rustle some jimmies on this forum by calling everyone who cries about chump change that I make in a couple of hours a poor person, and tell them to get a job instead of welfare.

WAHHH, TEH GAME THAT I SPENT 1000 HOURS PLAYING ALREADY FOR THE COST OF A SINGLE SATURDAY NIGHT OUT SHOULD BE EVEN CHEAPER! OH AND YOU SHOULD WORK HARD ON POST RELEASE CONTENT AND GIVE IT TO ME FREE BECAUSE REASONS! BAWWW CORPORATE GREED!

Yes, but I prolly won't buy it.  Here's why :  Costume packs.  BioWare is known for having a ton of costume packs, and I've never understood them.  I understand about wanting to make characters look badder or a little less slutty.  That, I get.  But for me, I've never had a problem with any character, being the male that I am.

If they showed male junk in this one, I might think about it just to cover that up.  But not otherwise.

Nope. The season pass is one of the most anti-consumer things in the video game industry.

I don't know if that's necessarily true. The Fallout 4 season pass is going to ultimately cost less than the individual DLC when they release, for example. I mean, yeah the DLC will eventually be cheaper if you wait a while till they're on sale, but you can do that anyway. Witcher 3 is the same deal. Season Passes just seem to basically be preorder bundles of DLC that ultimately get you a cheaper price than buying them individually. Its buying early and in bulk, essentially.

That means that I never had a problem with Jack's clothing, Samara's clothing, or Miranda's clothing.  Or lack thereof.  I just accepted it as space magic, when in all actuality they would look like something out of the start to Gravity.

NO!

Ea, however, may be considering it. The Xbox Subscription Fee service was deemed to be successful and EA brought it over to the PC and renamed Origin Access.... a monthly fee of $4.99 US. This may be EA's Season Pass equivalent or not.

No, they're utterly anti-consumer.

But let's be honest, short of some earth-shattering scandal between now and release, it's going to happen. EA's track record seems to be that any AAA release gets a pass these days.

As long as it isn't more than $30, I'll pay for a season pass. It's better than paying $15 a piece for the crap DLC DAI had.

The bethesda thing to me appeared to be an honest "we're having a blast making dlc and we have more planned and thanks to overwhelming support and sales have the green light to make more than we orginally had in store. It is only fair to give their fans a warning of an upcoming price hike or else suffer lashback of those who were blindsided by the hike. Yes it does create the urgency to get it at the cheaper price but then one must treat every blackfriday/boxing day sale the same in which self control is left to the consumer and they are the ones responsible for their actions.

As for every preordering you don't always know what you are preordering. Music and games are in the preordering business and less than a week after theatrical release I have already been seening pre orders for the new star wars on dvd/bluray/digital.

Most of the time as a consumer you have 0 idea what you're buying and that's the risk you're taking .
