I noticed during my last platinum on Wii U that my buddy bailed me out of several sync kills by banshees by using the heavy melee of the kroguard. This seems like a much better way of freeing people than the missiles which usually is way too late. How does the stagger mechanic work? Are these specific only to some kits? I'm guessing kroguard and batarian anything. Thanks!

A lot of damage over a short amount time? I suppose something like the Reegar can cause her to stagger then?

There isn't a precise mechanism known.they stagger when they suffer a lot of damage in a short amount of time, or suffer a high force attack, like a Krogan heavy melee. But it's never guaranteed.
From my experience getting them to drop someone due to high damage is alot more reliable than getting them to drop someone by applying a high force attack...

Yeah Reegar, BE's, a GI... anything that can do a butt-load of damage in a short amount of time. I have no idea what the threshold is, but its fairly easy to do for alot of kits/loadouts.

Just missile the biatch! You know, if you have your missile equipped and the Banshee grabs you as you are recovering from a downed state, you can shoot her if your crosshair manages to aim at her. A tip if you ever get grabbed as you recover with a missile in hand, otherwise, you can continue to shoot her with your currently equipped gun.

On gold you need to do 7000+ damage in 2 seconds or less. Additionally a large amount of force will work, but it has a much higher stagger cooldown.
H-h-how do I do this 7000+ damage in 2 seconds?! ![]()

Cain Mines, Flamer, Reegar, shotgun shot + Biotic hammer, Javelin shot with a GI... there are actually quite a good number of attacks in the game which can do it.
Does anyone know the value for a solo ? I've seen a Banshee dropping a turian saboteur from... a Homing grenade DoT.

I can't be the only one who has delighted themselves while astounding teammates by battering a Banshee with a Vorcha light melee combo equipped with a melee stunner?
It's one of my favourite ways to kill them.

Yes I've witnessed this in action. I was hella confused at first. Why do you wanna die Jer? You got so much life ahead of you! ![]()

Well, it's no guarantee (there is a cooldown) but it's surprisingly reliable.
Find a patch of uneven ground to do it on and the Banshee is basically helpless unless she has a lot of backup. There aren't too many things in Mass Effect more satisfying than beating a Banshee to death with Vorcha Light Melee.

Does Cabal light melee work too?

Does Cabal light melee work too?
If you equip the melee stunner, it should work with any infinitely cycling light melee - Shadow, Vorcha, Cabal...
It wouldn't work with light melee that doesn't cycle, like the Drell Assassin, or the KroLord (it would be kind of pointless on the Krolord anyway, tho'.)
Edit: Oh, but the reason I specifically mentioned the Vorcha is because their Bloodlust will counteract the damage that the Banshee does do. In this situation, the Banshee will typically be in "walking mode." What prevents her from synch-killing isn't so much the stagger interrupting the synch kill as the periodic stagger constantly tricks her back into "melee" mode, making it very unlikely that she will switch to teleport mode.
Attempting the same trick with the KroLord doesn't work (although he may just kill her outright with the combo.) I assume that it's because the Force-based cooldown is much longer than the melee stunner's cooldown, or maybe the longer, slower time between strikes gives the Banshee more time to switch to teleport mode and gib. Not really sure.
In any case, it isn't 100% reliable. She can switch to teleport mode at any time, but the melee stunner sure seems to go a long way to preventing it.

Lots of options, my preferred method is to generously apply Flamer+Cluster Grenades to her face.

GI Claymore - Cloak + Proxy Mine + Shot and AP4 usually will do the trick. Faster and cheaper than a missile.
Although, I actually like it more when the team comes together to focus fire for a picked-up player. One of the best examples of teamwork in the game.

I am not sure at the exact number on what it takes to stagger her..but my fqi w a black widow / javelin have saved many a KroLord by shooting her in the head to force her to drop them......not sure if regular krogan heavy melee has enough force....(cuz I haven't been close enough to try it when someone was getting sync'd in quite some time) but I do remember a game on rio..along time ago..when a banshee was about to sync someone and I was right next to them with my krogan soldier, I purged my fortification, you know, where it dumps that power into the gauntlets for more melee damage..and that worked....it got her to drop them..I have done the same to a praetorian on dagger to where I knocked them off the map.

I've never used the melee stunner. I should try it. ![]()
