It's just not ethical to bring someone on board a ship so soon after their wisdom teeth extraction.
Ok, I laughed harder at that than I should have...

Aren't a lot of characters are models instead of actors? Kai Leng, Shepard, Kaidan, and the likes are all models instead of actors. Although if they were gonna do face scan again, I hope they use unknown models and actors since I don't want to recognize famous faces since it would break immersion when it happens for me.
Character model and character voice are not always the same (noted exception Miranda). I don't know (or care) who they modeled Kai Leng on, but Troy Baker did the voice (BioShock, FF13, Arkham, etc.). Default M!Shep face is based on some model, but both voices are prolific voice actors.
Kaidan also is modeled on some model, I think, but voiced by Raphael Sbarge, who does stage, screen and voice acting.
On the whole BW, with the regrettable, and hopefully finished, exception of the 'token IGN character,' is pretty good on their voice actors.
As for character appearance, I don't really care. Squadmates and npcs can look however BW wants them too, and protag is customizable anyway.
I just don't like Allers because she's a reminder that they stripped a far superior Citadel Coup story out with Wong and Al-Jilani, gutted half of the game, and then replaced it with bullshit like Allers. Among other things.
She herself wasn't so bad on her own.
I was unaware of that. Now I am starting to understand why she is so loathed.
New Yeoman for ME:A?
I was unaware of that. Now I am starting to understand why she is so loathed.
Well, it wasn't just Allers. There was a whole story path that was cut that affected everything from Javik to Liara to the VS to Kai Leng. For the reporters, they had a larger story where an indoctrinated Hanar planted a bomb on the Citadel. Al-Jilani and Wong teamed up and strapped a camera on Shep to search the Wards while they reported, and Kolyat/Thane and Kasumi were involved too. Instead we got Allers and the Hanar got cut into that little scene for Kasumi. lol

It was a combination of things...
She was poorly acted, which by itself probably wouldn't have garnered that much attention, except that the person voicing her was also not only *not* an actor, but an IGN employee. That irked people because it was a fairly blatant example of how gaming journalists are far too cozy with the developers of the products they're covering. It didn't help matters that Bioware reduced Tali's reveal to a poorly done and rushed photoshop of a stock photo, while spending time and resources rendering and face-mapping (badly) a completely pointless character just so some nerdbait IGN 'personality' who couldn't act could get her cameo.
It also irked some because of what it said about how Bioware viewed its fans. They apparently thought being hot and semi-famous for licking an I-phone was more important than acting talent or how her character was written.
Finally, Diana Allers wasn't Emily Wong or Khalisah al-Jilani. That Emily Wong was killed off on Twitter also played into the Diana Allers hate.
And add to that the terrible romance. She was a really bad character.
I'd rather they stick to actually competent actors, unless it's for a very small cameo.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I honestly can't think of a single person that I would care about as a cameo.
Sticking someone into a video game purely for the sake of sticking having them in it is, at best, a pointless stunt, and at worst, a waste of time that drags down the quality of what you were doing.
I've never understood the hatred for Diana Allers.Maybe I just have a high tolerance for supposedly bad VA or something.
"gamer girl"
lol
"gamer girl"
lol
Indeed,I avoid girls that game IRL, why would I want to be subjected to them in a game? I say hell no to that.
This "gamer girl" or even "game guy" concept is kind of silly.. like
I have a friend that played like every single other game on like every other console including owning systems like Dreamcast, etc, and all those random lesser known but still fun things like Dynasty Warriors or Guilty Gear, Battletoads, whatever, and yes including PC Rpgs as well like Baldur's Gate or Starcraft 2 or something, and a friend that pretty much only played like Diablo and Warcraft.
They're both "gamers" on some level, just playing a few games or whatever a tiny bit doesn't make you any less of a gamer.... just a different kind is all.
Put Adam Baldwin back in Mass Effect. He never got his due.
Wait, he's really not much of a gamer, I think.
#whynotAdamBaldwin?

Exactly. No need to state your gender. It's irrelevant.
omg I'm a gamer guy!
Give me attention pls.
We need a Manveer Heir cameo. He can play Adam Baldwin's BFF.
