I think I have the animation timing worked out, but now I am having trouble with feats! I copied feat.2da from the XP2 folder, then added a feat called "Firearms Proficiency". I basically copied the date from martial weapon proficiency to row 2256, then edited the details there and made the necessary additions to my custom .tlk file.

The problem is that when I go to create a new character I don't see the option to take the feat. I made sure that the allclasscanuse was set to 1 in feat.2da, and I also checked to make sure there weren't any weird prereqs, but I can't see why it isn't working.

Can anyone with more feat experience help me out?

Thanks!

Matt

update: the feat shows up in the toolkit, I can assign it to an npc.

Update 2: Never mind, I am a dope. :P I forgot that fighters choose feats a bit differently. Nothing to see here, move along. :P

Just a brief update on the firearms: I have the feats and scripts working, I just need to add the reload timers. My plan is for each weapon to have a reload multiplier so that each individual weapon can be reloaded faster or slower depending on what is needed. In my case, black powder weapons will take a significant time to load, but you could simulate modern weapons by changing the reload multiplier, and in my module masterwork firearms will have a slight bonus to reload times. I may also create a feat that reduces reload time, and eventually I may create a prestige class or two (musketeer for certain!).

My plan is also to prevent the player from doing anything else while reloading (using SetCommandable), because I want the use of firearms to be very strategic, and also because (at least for me) it is very difficult to do anything else while safely reloading a gun in real life.

I still haven't come up with a good way for NPCs to use firearms, but hopefully inspiration will strike sooner or later. :P

Of course I will put my rough and ready version up for everyone to use once it's more or less complete. If nothing else, it may serve as a stand-in until 4760 finishes the nicer version he is working on. :)
