Must have some real noobs on their team....or they know its going to be a terrible game/room :P

Mass Effect Andromeda Senior editor Cameron Harris is leaving her position at Bioware. She revealed the news on her Twitter recently, along with the news of her departure from the gaming industry.

She will be pursuing new opportunities in Seattle.

Cameron Harris @camharr Mar 4

I've decided to exit the video-game industry to return to Seattle for new opportunities there. I'll be leaving BioWare in mid-April.

I had a great time at BioWare, working with so many talented, passionate folks. I'm grateful for everything you taught me over the years

This isn’t the first team member to leave Bioware in the middle of Mass Effect Andromeda development. Previously, Andromeda writer Chris Schlerf left Bioware to work with Bungie on Destiny 2.

Actually, alot of the times when senior members of a development team leave when the game is nearing release..it means that their jobs are finished and the game just needs some polishing. Most of the times, it's writers & directors...because there is really nothing more for them left to do.

Cut and edit. You know - like a good chef who has this grand menu in mind. Constantly balancing ingredients, sauce levels and the handiwork of the lesser cooks, who are out to make a name for themselves. In the end it's the product that is important.

A symphony of everything coming together, labour, ingredients, cooking time. The chef (editor) is there to make it come true. That's why the chef earns the stars.

Well AS,
...recall that Drew Karpyshyn just rejoined bw 3 months ago. He was the writer for the original mass effect 1&2, star wars kotor with a decade of experience in writing for gaming. Officially he was not on that me:a team originally. But it is the largest bw game ever attempted (even larger than kotor), so I simply interpret it that the team have a lot on their plate and internal stress.

Anyway the editor ( the one that overviews the story scripts and responses) will see a large explosion of permutations if the story line changes by a small margin). Such a huge untertaking takes its toll, but no-one leave out of boredom before release( even if timeline shifted). Timeline shifts means priorities are reassessed and stuff reintroduced.

Given that pressure - i think it apt that the community expresses their support to those existing & (leaving) staff that make the result a memorable experience through blood, sweat and tears.

I've really been wondering that something must be really wrong at BioWare with so many employees, key even, leaving since the EA takeover. Corporate love ain't so easy, it seems.

I'm pretty much operating under the assumption that the game is going to be a disaster, anyway. The same people who were responsible for the worst parts of ME3 are running the show, and they keep using words like "exploration" (read: aimlessly wandering around vast boring nothingness ala DAI).

If the MP looks decent, I may pick it up used or something I guess. However, what I've seen of that game's MP does not inspire confidence, at all.

Of course, if I see a quarian in a trailer pre release, I'll probably preorder like 10 copies anyway no matter how garbage the game is.

^ Worst part my butt. They were responsible for ME3mp. The best part of ME3, as single player is all garbage anyway.

The only issue I see is the corporate ways of EA getting in the way too much. Because corporations just want to play it safe VS actual creativity. Just like how corporate Disney destroyed Star Wars with TFA. That movie was practically written by the corporate suits in a boardroom. The signs are already there, as ME:A is already looking like a remake/reboot of ME1. Everything is remake or reboot these days because it's the corporate way.

Super Mac is leading the whole thing, and he didn't have much if anything to do with the MP or combat design, which were the good parts of the game.

His role was in such lovely stuff like Cerberus going from Stormfront to the Galactic Empire in 6 months, lame Pinocchio/Commander Data robots everywhere, hilarious character derailments/ multiple personalities for virtually everyone from the previous games, and the lulzy endings.

These games are fun, but despite my SP trolling, if I'm not invested in the universe they're just like any other science fiction shooter to me, and the glitchy, unbalanced, broken gameplay wouldn't have kept me around for nearly 1000 hours otherwise.

I thought we had a new lead writer, and that Malc is just there to make coffee?

One thing I'm hoping, is that since Drew is now back with BioWare, that if ME:A again fails with story, that he be brought back to lead writer. That guy is a true fan/nerd fanboy of great sci-fi and stuff going by the interviews on making ME1 bonus disk. Why ME1 & 2 worked out so well.

I figure it's just natural evolution. Journalism figured out that those pesky editors were getting in the way of the timely release of news, so they got rid of that step. Now our news is delivered faster than ever! It's fast, it's cheap... there's a third thing that usually correlates to those two things, but I forget what it is.

Me too. And while I agree with you on the things you've said, I'm dealing with it in a similar fashion to how I dealt with ME3, which means avoiding spoilers and speculation for the most part. ME2 remains my favourite game, and I knew the ending of the trilogy would be ballsed-up in some way. But when it came to playing it, not knowing a word of Casey Hudson's promises, I was able to approach the game with low expectations and end up surprised to enjoy the overall experience, only very mildly disappointed at the end. With hindsight, I can understand why some people were so upset, but that wasn't my experience at the time, and in fact it was only really when I reloaded my save file and chose a different 'colour' that the potential scale of the disaster actually dawned on me. But as for that very first playthrough, I don't mind admitting that I was affected enough by the experience that while still pondering the Stargazer scene, I kinda erupted in tears when Buzz Aldrin's name appeared. I have just about one true belief irl, which is that we have to get off this rock in order to survive, and that is what we should be committing our energies and resources to. With that in mind, I find the lore of the Mass Effect universe to be an acceptable and enjoyable fantasy playground.

With regard to ME:A, avoiding speculation pains me greatly, as it means I don't get to enjoy your, let's call it interaction in the Andromeda section. Every time I've ventured over there I've ultimately ended up depressed, so the short-term lols aren't worth it. It's very surprising to me that I ended up on this side of the fence though, as ME3 remains the only multiplayer game I've ever enjoyed or been able to play for long periods.

The way I see it as a consumer is that Bioware have given me enough pleasure that I can still just about justify buying ME:A on release. With the exception of Naughty Dog games and HL3 there's nothing else I would say the same for.  I'm expecting it to be a bit rubbish, but hey, you never know, they might surprise me. And I have to be honest - my PS4 is basically just gathering dust so I have to hope there'll be something worth buying reasonably soon. I'm sure UC4 will be brilliant, but it's unlikely to keep me invested beyond one or two playthroughs. I would probably be interested in The Division, but I'm concerned that the PvP part would just detract from the game for me, and besides, I won't have a working MP account on PS4 until ME:A finally drops, unless there's a spectacularly appealing PS+ game in the meantime.

I was a huge Bioware fan.  After what went down with DA: I I'm not so gung ho anymore.

I knew not to buy a PS4 yet.  I knew it would be boring to me, but the sale was so good I went ahead and got one.  I'm in the same boat as you.  The only really good thing my PS4 has given me is a bad ass new friend (assuming they eventually branch out to other games)  I love the system and they did a great job on it.  The games aren't there though.

They got me good though.  "FF7 Remake is coming!!!!!!!"  oh btw its going to be episodic and watered down with a leet combat system dude.  I can't stand the Uncharted series, but I LOVE Last of Us.  I'm glad UC is coming soon so hopefully we hear something about Last of Us 2.  I'm just waiting for June though.  That is when my move to PS4 will be complete.  I will be buying ME: A used if people say its good and it isn't a complete rip off like DAMP and their 3 maps and 12 characters......

Metal Gear is ok.  I admit I expected more.  Evolve is cool, but they really need to add some stuff in there.  I like ACIV (I am big on AC multiplayer) but I'm just burnt out on it and I played it on PS3....just like I could have Metal Gear.

In time I'm sure the games will come and it will be amazing.  It's just not right now.  I'm sure many people love their new consoles and thats great...just my personal taste isn't really satisfied yet.  I'm glad they enjoy it.
