I'll be honest, I love Last of Us and consider it one of the greatest games ever made, but the idea of making a sequel for it horrifies me.

I suppose I should have seen it coming. Maybe I'll end up liking it. If it features Ellie or Nate as a main character, I suspect that, between bouts of nausea, I will probably steel myself and buy it.

But the hypothetical thought of it? Ick. I can't see any way to do it without damaging the legacy of the first's story. I can't even say why, because I refuse to risk even the slightest spoiler, lest anyone who hasn't played it reads my post.

You're right.  It doesn't get any better than perfect.  And if any game ever came close to perfect it was damn sure Last of Us.  With a group of people that talented and that gifted at their job I would rather have it than not.  I still think they would do a great job.  I think it would be loved and great even if it didn't quite live up to the first one (which would be hard for sure).

I don't get choked up or anything....ever.  There were 2 parts where I could have in that game though.  10/10 and I have the utmost respect for everyone involved in that game.  They are truly masters of their craft.

The MP was pretty shallow, but it was just tacked on and the SP was obviously what they were going for.  That's fine when you are that good.

I never understood the hysteria over Last of Us myself. The gameplay doesn't interest me and zombies sure as hell do not. Also, I can't stand Baker's voice.

But then I also hate stuff like Souls series.

*activate flame shield* -_-

I'm perfectly cool with this, not jealous at all. I can wait and will happily. I look forward to all the screenshots too. This will be great.

If there is sideboob... I will find it.

Actually, alot of the times when senior members of a development team leave when the game is nearing release..it means that their jobs are finished and the game just needs some polishing. Most of the times, it's writers & directors...because there is really nothing more for them left to do.

Development is a continuous process that spans throughout the whole cycle. I surely doubt this.

Apologies. Since TLoU and Souls fans have a track record of getting personally offended at criticism of their favorite games, I assumed you took it so as well.

I honestly didn't even realize you were criticizing it. The way I read it, I thought you hadn't played it because you weren't interested.

But, for the record, I don't think Souls fans or TLoU fans are any more inclined to get personally offended at criticism of their favourite games than fans of other series. It seems to be a pretty universal trait across every fandom and forum that I've seen. This one certainly isn't an exception, although it is better than the others that I've spent time in.

I'm long past bothering to even post balanced criticisms of those games. I've criticized (vocally) quite a few (popular) games over the years and to be honest it seems the fans of these two are the most hostile to critics. Take, for example, Mass Effect. Even on its official forum, most members are quite cool with new people highlighting its drawbacks (and not just for the ME3 endings).

I don't expect such civility from TLoU and Souls worshippers. It's amusing to see them get riled up over small comments.

Again, don't take it personally. It's just an observation.

I was a huge Bioware fan.  After what went down with DA: I I'm not so gung ho anymore.

I knew not to buy a PS4 yet.  I knew it would be boring to me, but the sale was so good I went ahead and got one.  I'm in the same boat as you.  The only really good thing my PS4 has given me is a bad ass new friend (assuming they eventually branch out to other games)  I love the system and they did a great job on it.  The games aren't there though.

They got me good though.  "FF7 Remake is coming!!!!!!!"  oh btw its going to be episodic and watered down with a leet combat system dude.  I can't stand the Uncharted series, but I LOVE Last of Us.  I'm glad UC is coming soon so hopefully we hear something about Last of Us 2.  I'm just waiting for June though.  That is when my move to PS4 will be complete.  I will be buying ME: A used if people say its good and it isn't a complete rip off like DAMP and their 3 maps and 12 characters......

Metal Gear is ok.  I admit I expected more.  Evolve is cool, but they really need to add some stuff in there.  I like ACIV (I am big on AC multiplayer) but I'm just burnt out on it and I played it on PS3....just like I could have Metal Gear.

In time I'm sure the games will come and it will be amazing.  It's just not right now.  I'm sure many people love their new consoles and thats great...just my personal taste isn't really satisfied yet.  I'm glad they enjoy it.

Just go out and get Bloodborne already! Or try dark souls 2 for now. If you like multiplayer and some fantastic pvp action, there's few things that give you more of a rush that pvp in the souls games. It's literally the only game where my hands get sweaty and I feel the the jitters and I very rarely feel nervous in real life and almost never in a game!

Also you can't teabag people but they make up for it with some lovely gesture options.

It just comes off as "hipster" at this point.  I won't attack someone for their opinion.....generally  .

I don't really like SP games.  There are only a handful that I really even play, but to me it is absurd to not give LoU its due.  That's just my personal taste at the end of the day.

It's not really "zombies" though.  It's cordyceps.  That is why the people who are newly infected cry and scream when you sneak around them.  They have lost control of their bodies, but are still themselves in their mind.

I think zombies are ran into the ground and yes I understand why people call LoU a zombie game, but unlike most zombie games it has many different enemies. "Zombies" are good for show, but are backdrop and not the main game.

The thing about LoU, to me, is just the story, but also the characters themselves.  Of course my favorite is Joel.  He's a real man....don't whine....don't what if.....give me what I need and do it now.  I can't think of any other game that goes that far and shows the human emotion and really runs with it.  If you've played the game then you know what I mean.  "I ain't got time for this."

If some people don't quite understand what I mean, but are curious then here...I will put it in a spoiler tag.  Different part than the "I ain't got time for this." but still gets my point across. This is how its done.  The growth and changes the characters grow through is crazy too. Dat ending......

Hmmm nm.  I have to edit that out.  Too much for this site I think.  You all should know what I mean at this point though.

I would probably be interested in The Division, but I'm concerned that the PvP part would just detract from the game for me,

There is nothing forcing you to go to the Dark Zone at all if you don't want to.

Even notable director like Spielbeg can't do the movies they want.

Bridge of Spies...!

The Division is an excellent game (only played the Beta and now about 30 mins of released game - damn work)

Very smooth playing and nice 3rd person shooter RPG (like Mass Effect!). Honestly for people who like ME3MP The Division is a game which should be strongly considered

Siren and I were online when the game suddenly went live six hours earlier than announced, so we got about 12 hours of play in on the first day. The variety of missions is great, the scenery is great, the progression is pretty great. The only downer is that the servers really suffered under the load some of the day, but I'm sure that Ubisoft can scale them to handle the load within a couple days.

I'm not hating on you for liking the game. It's just that the game never appealed to me for a variety of reasons so I've never been able to feel the emotion that so many people felt because of it. It's just that when I talk about it, I get predictable aggressive responses, so I've become quite careless with my own statements about the game. I try and imagine what my response would be if someone talked **** about Witcher and I'm happy to say I wouldn't react. If I had the tendency, the Andramada forum would be scorched earth right now.

Another thing is that the behavior of the these two series fans' is precisely what has made me more hostile to their sequels and related games. It is also one of the reasons I am guarded about Uncharted 4.

OK, I've derailed this thread enough. On topic, I didn't even know game companies had editors. I don't have much of an opinion on people leaving Bioware but the biggest indictment of ME: A is that Mac Walters is the Project Director.

It's just that Dark Souls series can have a long adjusting to period. Especially when coming off sci-for shooter action of Mass Effect, then going to fantasy and what at first seems like a typical hack an slash. So yeah, why it took me such a long time to adjust till I appreciated it for what it was. That's all I'm saying. And I'm saying it because I know exactly where you guys are because I've been there (from lots to ME to DS). Why I push others harder to give it more of chance. Otherwise, if the game really isn't for you, then why would I see an issue? I'm just concerned that most dismiss most games too quickly, which is very true from my own experience alone. So lesson learnt for me long time ago.

ie. I almost dismissed getting into the Mass Effect series because ME1 started too slow and I never was into 3rd person shooters before it. Had to fight to stick with it until it finally clicked. If I'd of given up, I wouldn't be here at over 2000hrs on just multiplayer and over well over 5x of sp in every game in the Trilogy.

And now, I'm almost dismissing KotOR because, again, the start is so slow and lol the turn based combat in this game seems so boring.

Haven't heard about that story. Just read that he had to fight hard to get Lincoln in theatres. The suits didn't believe in it because it wasn't a typical well known expensive blockbuster sequel.

Players have 2 skills that operate on cooldown, which are effectively powers, and which have a range of possibilities like an automated turret or the ability to heal other players. But the main similarity is the ability to form a co-op squad of up to 4 players in game to complete a mission, or sequence of missions, together, and to get shared XP and credits. Coordinating equipped skills and weaponry with your squad makes it more interesting as well(*). Missions are replayable and the difficulty is selectable in the mission screen. So there are tangible similariities to ME3MP co-op, not to mention many others such as weapon progression etc etc.

(*) For example, Siren and I selected complementary sets of skills, with her equipping Pulse Scan and me using the Medical Healing equipment, so she can scan enemy positions and I can heal us both if we take damage during a battle. I carried an LMG to suppress enemies, she took the sniper rifle so she could flank them and headshot them. So far it's worked well for us, up to level 10 anyway.

Yes, in the same way that soloing ME3MP requires you to be connected. It's fundamentally a team co-op game that you can play solo if you want to, but unlike ME3MP, the story campaign is integral.

Another big plus to the game is that there is even more whining on the game forum than on the Battlefront forums :D

I am seriously interested in who hates you so much they follow you around and report like that.  Every time you do something they can get you for you get blasted.  Kinda sad tbh.  And then I really don't get this site.  If they just want to warn people over all of these things, but keep letting them post and stuff I don't guess its a huge deal.....but why even do it like that in the first place?  It makes no sense.
