There is nothing forcing you to go to the Dark Zone at all if you don't want to.
Cheers for the info, but it's a moot point anyway - as I said I don't have MP access on PS4 at present, and I'm not even considering paying for the required subscription along with the full price of the game at this time. I'm also loathe to drop cash on a Ubisoft game early on, having barely survived the recent Bethesda farcical offering - I should have been earning a salary as a game-tester, not giving them money! I expect I'll watch some gameplay on Youtube over the coming months and think about picking up a 2nd hand copy if I like the look of it.
Now, as for being forced, I do have to ask this: if it's true that the better loot is in the DZ, and that loot can then be used outside the DZ, I have concerns that the Division's equivalent of the Claymore may only be found in the DZ. Is there some basis for my potential misgivings? Could I be playing co-op with people who would have stuff I would covet, earned not by 'grinding', but by playing PvP? Or are they only able to use it when they venture back into the DZ? If that turns out to be the case I would probably be more likely to be interested in what does look like an enjoyable game to me. I just don't have any interest in PvP, unless motorbikes or occasionally cars are involved.

I think your browser dun bin messed with.
I'm not so sure. The game is out and multiple people have beaten it in coop and it took only 4 hours for the whole main story. It costs $100 with season pass. Death Zone is barely functional atm but I'm sure it'll get better. Also, there is no role playing whatsoever, at least I have not seen anything that suggests you can choose any dialog options. There are only 2 (two!) skills you can use in combat. How this can be compared to Mass Effect? I'm really puzzled. However, it is not a bad game IMO.
There are no dialog options, but that's not the way this game is structured.
And while I don't know how long the main storyline is, there are a ton of optional and side quests which are quite interesting. I played last night for 3 hours and only did 2 story missions. It is a huge open concept map with awesome graphics.
The game looks and feels incredible, with 3rd person combat. As far as only having 2 abilities, that's not quite true, you have 2 hot keyed abilities which can be switched whenever you want for other abilities. ME3MP has 3 fixed abilities per kit so I don't see why that would be a drawback.
It's difficult for me to imagine people liking ME3MP and not The Division TBH
Lol, really? Why?
It's not quite what I would be looking for - I'd like something more power heavy. With Vanguard zipping and arced powers and Asari dash.
The whining is mostly along the lines of "I ran in shooting and the enemies killed me and this is the worst game ever and I demand a refund and a personal apology from Yves Guillemot!"
The limitations are that this is meant to be near-future semi-realistic, so Biotic charge and blue babes are absent from the game. Sorry.
Aw, I read "hypersext" and was just about to install chrome.
Chrome will give you hypersext if you type the right terms into the address bar....
What? Locations from the new TFA? What a turn off.
Well, I've met Deerber on Jakku before, also Endor for that matter....

You're welcome of course. The Dark Zone drops better grade stuff at a given level than outside, and that stuff can be used outside, but isn't necessary, certainly not at the middle levels of the game. I may be wrong, but it seems that it's more a difference in the grade of weapon, not the type of weapon. The balance of the game seems to mean that there aren't any sudden God Gun drops. You can also craft the low level drops that you find into better grade gear and weapons if you want.
The thing is, the Dark Zone isn't exactly conventional PvP. For one thing, most of the danger in there is the very hostile NPCs you meet, the second part is that killing another player in the DZ gets you marked as Rogue with a price on your head. We saw a lot of informal cooperation in the DZ, especially at extraction zones, although it's true to say we also encountered some real arschloch types too. The proximity based voice chat can be an aid in dealing with the other agents that you meet BTW.
Our funny story is that when we two ventured into the DZ for the first time, skirted some large groups to avoid trouble, then met a group of four who came cautiously past us, went on their way...and then opened fire on us as soon as we started to move off. We responded aggressively and wiped them all out. But that got us marked as Rogues, so the entire map descended on us and we were both wiped out within a minute ![]()
Anyways, if our regular BSN homies aren't going to be joining us, we'll have to fix up NY by ourselves. But if you make us do all the hard work, be careful if you meet us in the DZ ![]()
EDIT: Also, what Max said.

Whoa. I would just nuke it. It's the only way to be sure.

Maybe you should drop some helpful advice like "Git gud" and "L2P" there. The co-existence of PVE and PVP players should make for some interesting discussion points, too.
^It's not traditional shooter pvp where 1 bullet kills you, everything has hit points and guns have damage values, there's legitimate cover mechanics.
Seems pretty balanced although I've only done a little of it

I'll leave the advice to QMR, she does it better than I ever will. One point though, there are just players, and it's PvE every where, but only in the DZ is there friendly fire, which is what people are calling PvP. As I said already, it's really nothing like traditional PvP.

Yeah, although it's only balanced if you stick close to your level. Siren and I missed a couple of level 2-4 side missions and went back to do them when we were level 9. The rioters fell like dominoes. Then we went to fight some level 8-10 cleaners, and certain members of our party were badly burned by proximity bombs... ![]()

...
Yea, but the loot. The precious loot. Won't it attract the pure PVE players?
I was checkin out the division on twitch..the game has only been out for 24 hours and people have already hit the level cap & finished the game. I do like the 3rd person cover based part..does remind me of ME3...what sucks for the division..is they can't do grabs... so many times I saw people get into that position...sucks 4 them.
The Division
If only because it has the voice of Garrus. Huge selling point obv.

Glad he made it back from post-nuke Boston - everywhere I turned in FO4, he was there, seemingly. ![]()
Interesting discussion on The Division - I for one appreciate reading all your opinions. ![]()

I swear - I hear him everywhere in the Commonwealth. Maybe HE is the Stranger! ![]()
Actually, alot of the times when senior members of a development team leave when the game is nearing release..it means that their jobs are finished and the game just needs some polishing. Most of the times, it's writers & directors...because there is really nothing more for them left to do.
can't polish a turd...
I hate to be negative, but EA.
Just throwing a little heads up out there for people as Uncharted and Last of Us have been mentioned. Those of you PS4/PS+ people. I haven't got on and checked the store yet, but I just got a message that there is a Naughty Dog Sale going on right now in the PS Store 40-60% off. So $20 for LoU and $30 for the entire Uncharted Collection. This is a sale on anything Naughty Dog on any platform and includes DLC.
Aside from that I am wondering if anyone else will rage quit Bioware? As far as delays go, I have no problems with them. I just want a finished game when I get it.
