Allo allo  B)

So I just started my 2nd playthrough (yes I started playing DAI really late) and I have quite a large list of events I want to change from what happened in my first game. One of these is not having Vivienne become the new Divine. I personally disliked her character and I was wondering what the consequences would be if I decided not to recruit her at all. Does anyone know what would happen?

No consequences at all. Except you loose out on some war table quests (about 3-5 I think) and the Inquisition becomes less fabulous over all.

But seriously, if you don't want her, don't recruit her. The option is there for you to take.

She can't become Divine if you don't recruit her. You can recruit her without her becoming divine.

I know but I don't want to take the risk lol. Her becoming Divine came as quite a shook since I ignored her pretty much the entire game lol

I think I will recruit her but tell her to ****** off somehwere during the game. It will be so satisfying!!  :D

Jusy ally with the Mages. That pretty much kills her chance to become divine.

Even if you don't recruit her, if you have Trespasser, she will still show up as the Grand Enchanter in the epilogue slides. I believe the Circle is restored and the College is created regardless of who is Divine, and whether we allied/conscripted mages/templars.

You should keep Vivienne if you plan to romance Sera because you cannot trigger the full-lenght sex scene without her.

There are things that are more conservative that will push Viv as your divine.  Without giving those things away since you've only had one PT, just keep that in mind when you make your decisions and you can avoid having Viv has your divine..

I haven't bothered recruiting her in my latest play-through either. Mainly because I enjoy siding with the Templars, and leaving Celene on the throne. Both of which guarantee she'll be Divine......*Shudders* Tis a fate worse than Death for Mages everywhere.

This. And frankly, the Inquisition needs all the help it can get. Have you seen those pajamas?

I might have to do the same after she turned me down flat for romance, saying that there was nothing to gain by it.

Does she have any idea who she's speaking to??

I went with conscripted mages the first time and got Vivienne. I'm going with conscripted templars this time and am hoping i'll end up with Cas as Divine if I keep supporting her and promote reform every chance I get. "Crosses fingers"

That's a Bioware choice for you.

I conscripted the templars and left Celene on the throne (maybe reconciled with Briala?  I can't remember) and I got Leliana as Divine last time.  Keep in mind that certain choices that you make in conversations with companions can also influence who becomes Divine.

If you make the Mages allies and keep the Grey Wardens around it'd be pretty hard for Leliana not to become divine. That's about 20 points with those two decisions alone. I don;t bother trying to make Cassandra divine because for one, i'm not breaking up my romance and two, i agree with Leliana about everthing.

You'll save yourself the headache and wanting to jam an ice pick in Vivienne's eye.

Recruited her once and I was like, "Not doing this again."  She can stew in V.R. and use her schemes on someone else.

She restarts the circle no matter what the Inquisitor does.  If not recruited, there is no name attached.

Vivienne makes it pretty clear that while she is doing to help with the recent chaos, she is mainly doing it to gain all she can wth the Inquisition. It's succsess, its gaining of prestige, its becoming a dominant power in Thedas, etc. I appreciated that forwardness. Which I appreciated, but still dislike enough to not recruit her for.

No matter what you do, she has everything to gain and nothing to loose (she still appears in the ending of Trespasser, and it is implied she still manages the Circles.). The Inquisition could only move her up, and she is skilled enough to make sure it never drags her down. Refusing to let her join will only force her to seek other avenues for her political maneuvering.

Similarly, while you too have things to gain if she joins you (namely a companion and a few table operations) you essentially loose nothing of note if you choose not to recruit her. As far as gameplay is concerned, all you really loose when you don't recruit her is a knight enchanter.

And even THAT Specialization is available if the Inquisitor is a mage.  Warriors and Rogues miss out entirely, tho.

If you're okay with metagaming you could look up exactly how the Divine is selected. It's known how they're selected, and there's no randomness to it, so you can game the system.

That said, if you made choices that led to her becoming Divine maybe you could consider giving her another chance as a party member and maybe as Divine. You clearly agree on some things.

Once I uploaded her Enchanter's Seat to the Golden Nug, I officially had no reason to recruit Vivienne anymore.

I recruit her but keep her at Skyhold. Someone has to stay behind and annoy the dignitaries that visit.

So play a rogue. That way you can leave Sera behind. I don't necessarily dislike her, but if your main goal is to annoy dignitaries...
