For me to consider a £60 pre-order it's got to be a Starcraft II quality bundle.
Nigh on £100 for a metal box and a Revenant figurine... granted a 12" tall, really cool looking Revenant... maybe not:

Speaking 0f 80-100 dollars for ME:A, here are two reasons why one should wait
Case in point: The Division
-- Server outages on release day for console owners.
-- Nvidia's drivers that creates PC problems ==> version 364.47 was released with performance fixes and tweaks for recent
-- games, including The Division.
A simple google search will provide all the links you need. For those in a hurry can go:

My point is that gamers who play a new game on release day can get themselves into trouble, from "minor" server issues to potential severe problems with their PCs. Paying 80-100 bucks for Bio's ME:A and then get "free pain" for your money is simply not worth it. Waiting for the inevitable "early adopters" and let them and the publisher sort it out sounds like a good plan.
The most I will pay for this game is $9.99, and it will defiantly be a used copy. Will never buy a new copy of a EAware game again.

I'd do that if they didn't tie the games into our BSN accounts. Seems like you would need a register number or something..which you can't do with used.
I realized by waiting you get a better product at a cheaper price. In a year or so the price will be dropping and patches will improve the overall experience, if you are the patient type you will even get the GOTY edition with all the DLC included.

And then the GOTY will drop in price if you're patient there too. ![]()
i'll preorder it, i might not be a big fan of the people working at Bioware but i have enough trust in EA to hold their leash and release a good game

I doubt it. Bought inquisition used for 7.99 and I am able to play both MP and SP. No registration needed.

Oh that's cool. I was wondering about DAI.. because I didn't have to register, like I did with the older titles.

ehh but I'm not THAT patient

Didn't take long for DAI at least. Seems like GOTY came out a year later.. and I could've sworn it wasn't full price even then. And now it's $40.
The lower real prices are, I think, a problem, largely because they require that the game serve a larger audience. Not just that, but they complain that games are trying to reach out to a broader audience. With lower real prices, even if games were made on the same budge they would need wider audiences just have the same margin.
They aren't going to reach that large of an audience anyways.
If they did, they would be selling at full price even years later. See GTA.

Sales started even earlier. I picked the GotY up for $35 from Amazon a month or maybe six weeks after launch. Origin had an earlier sale which I missed, IIRC, and there were regular sales after.
Kind of a bizarre transaction, since EA was selling a download code at list price but Amazon had the same code for 40% off.
I remember the regular game going on sale fairly early too. I mean even the GOTY dropped a bit as well.
In any case, I think it's a good way to entice new people. In the case of really popular games (GTA), obviously the demand is already there. So no need to drop prices.
No. I will never pay more than $60 for a base game at release. Part of my rationale for this is because DLC and season passes are ways for developers and publishers to increase the overall price tag of the game, sometimes doubling its cost (Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4, and Batman Arkham Knight all have $50 season passes).
Then again, I'll never even pay $60 because the PC version is always cheaper than console version and I'll be able to get a nice discount on MEA either way. The only reason I might pay more is if the digital deluxe edition on Origin offers some quality incentives. DAI's digital deluxe edition was rather lackluster, so unless MEA raises the stakes, I'll probably just get the standard edition for cheap. I'll easily be able to get it for under $50.

Obviously we still don't know a ton about the game so my hype-meter is still pretty low--If it amps up closer to release and there aren't any other games claiming my attention at the time, I could see myself dropping about $60-$70 depending on pre-order perks, DLC, and whatnot. If it fails to get my interest, though, I'll wait for a good ol' Steam sale.
I won't be doing any collector's editions, though, particularly if they're Game Stop exclusives. That was an ordeal with DAI I'm not repeating.
What I was thinking is that there just aren't all that many new customers at the $60 price point. Sure, there are a few -- new gamers, a handful who figure they might as well see what the fuss is about, and so on. But surely there must be an awful lot more who won't buy at $60 but would buy at $30.
I don't see how GTA's overall high sales numbers change this calculus. Doesn't that just mean that there are more customers at both price points?
I figured because GTA qualifies as one of those "must haves" to many people, and if they are gonna shell out $60, they'll do it for a "must have". It isn't that they're not willing to pay full price ever. They just do it with a limited set of titles. Bioware games just don't qualify there. The people who will are much smaller... the diehards. Many people here on BSN, for example.
As soon as they fix the ending on Mass Effect 3, I am in!
Haha. Yeah, well...I would if they did!
I usually wait until a sale, or some other deal such as a bundle.
I avoid any microtransactions like the plague (because that's basically what it is, a plague), but I keep tabs on how it's received.
I only go with player reviews, because I find "critic reviews" to be unreliable at best and untrustworthy at worst.
Granted, those "player reviews" are not just random IGN page-lookups, I actually do the research to see if it's worth getting on Day 1 or otherwise.
BioWare gets some leniency, since despite having to be stuck with the overgrown pustule that is EA, they've still managed to turn out quality products.
So for Mass Effect: Andromeda, if there's an especially good deal ($60-$70 gets you the whole game plus automatic download of DLC as it comes out) then I'll get it on Day 1.
If not, then I'll wait a few months until it's at a respectable price, and see what my options are then.
I plan on buying the Collector's edition of ME:A - and will pay for it in US dollars, but hopefully my cost will not be in tears as well.
Yes, yes I will. It will be more here with the exchange rate but that's OK. Last time I ordered delivery for my 2 boys my hubby and myself it was more than that (11 and 13 year old boys eat a lot!) and it only lasted a night, this will last longer.
Hence no lesson learnt from ME3 and DA:I. I thought there would have been more conscious people not willing to squander money for this full priced product.
