Well, first of all, $70 would be a pretty high price for a new game (at least on PC).

So I'll rephrase that question a bit:: Will you pre-order ME:A / buy it on release day for the full price (whatever that may be)?

Preorder? No, definite no, I used to blindly get BW games since KotOR but I am done with per-ordering anything anymore. Buy on release day? No. Buy for full price? That depends. If I hear from a lot of people I trust that the game is spectacular and bug free and if there is no rip-off DLC policy attached to it (and I am very strict about what I consider a rip-off DLC policy), than yes, in that case I would pay full price for the game. Otherwise I'll either not get it at al (got to admit, that's unlikely) or wait until there is a substantial discount.

I figured because GTA qualifies as one of those "must haves" to many people, and if they are gonna shell out $60, they'll do it for a "must have". It isn't that they're not willing to pay full price ever. They just do it with a limited set of titles. Bioware games just don't qualify there. The people who will are much smaller... the diehards. Many people here on BSN, for example.

Thak makes sense. But how is it that all the people who must have GTA don't already, um.... have it?

Why does the title say 70? It will be 60 EURO i imagine, like every other game. PC games tend to be abit cheaper actually. If the question is would i pay 70 Euro for this game? Probably yeah, but it is not going to be a pre-order, day one purchase is more likely.

Heh. I don't know. It might coincide with people who have even bought a new console or something.

If I like what I see... pre-order.

I'm over CE's. I'd never pay over a hundred for one of those. A lot of it is just cheap plastic you don't have room for anyway.

I foresee a Battlefront situation with Andromeda anyway. Season Pass.

Yup! In Canada, its $79.99 for most games now but I will probably be getting the collectors edition which is more and if there is a season pass on the first day, I'll get that too.  The Mass Effect series is probably one of the very few game series I have played from starting to the end so I enjoy them a lot.

Yeh.   Thinking I'll buy it pre-order.

If it has both sp and mp I'd pay $100 for it no problem, but that is because that A)  I am an old geezer that at this point in life I can afford to spend what I want on leisure and B)  I am a sucker.  (Though BioWare has shaken my Stepford like buying of their products with the issues with ME3 and DA mp).

I won't judge yet what I'd be prepared to pay for ME:A.  We'll see when the game actually comes out.

Would I pay full price again for a remastered edition of the ME Trilogy?  Absolutely.  I've enjoyed countless hours with that game and would like to be able to go back to it years from now on my next-gen console long after my pre-gen console bites the dust.  I hope that, in the very least, it eventually becomes backward compatible.  Until then, I'll keep periodically replaying it on my pre-gen as long as the console keeps booting up.

Let's put it like this, most games as they are now, are not worth more than the standard price in my eyes.

However, if a developer were to go all out with developing a game, really taking video game development to the next level in all aspects -

for something like this I will happily pay even double price even just on the initial game itself not including expansions and DLC.

So I take it you'll pay full price for Star Citizen?

I don't even know when that's coming out.... but it's been in development awhile.

Are there any games (past or current) that fit your criteria listed?

I don't know if it will be that good, and the MP aspect does not interest me, but if it comes out and really manages to blow my expectations, sure.

Not really. Some games were good, some were bad, but I am talking about a masterpiece, something that justifies asking double price on the game itself.

I wish it wasn't just for PCs.. that's my only prob. I think I'll need a lot of hardware for it.

If you've ever played Wing Commander games though, it'll probably be fun. Those are still in my top 10.

Given that I pay for games in either Canadian or Australian dollars depending on where I'm living at the time of release, $70 would actually be cheaper than normal.

but I'll pay for it if I think that it's worth the money.

Yes. Primarily because I am rich, but also because I don't play that many games nowadays. So I'm prepared to spend a lot on what I know I'll like.

No way. Ever heard of a steam sale or green man gaming? I bought Fallout 4 and MGSV for around £30 each last year. 70 dollars is like 49 pounds. PC games are supposed to be cheaper than console games.

Hence no lesson learnt from ME3 and DA:I. I thought there would have been more conscious people not willing to squander money for this full priced product.

What I learned from ME3 and DA:I is that good games are still pretty cheap.

I'll buy it for full price on the release date just because it's Mass Effect. Oh, shouldn't be as horrible as Battlefront's price.
