I cannot remember if its during the debrief after Jacob's mission, or the one where you are ambushed on the "damaged" Collector ship, but the Illusive Man DEFINATLY (if rather offhand) seperates himself from the rest of humanity.  Anyone pick this up/can confirm this/have a transcript of either encounter?

I hate him.

I hated him before the release of ME2.

I know that he isn't on our side, and that he's yanking my chain.

Douche bag.

He does have those Terminator-esque eyes.

if anything those are paragon eyes. if you make your shepard a renegade (as i always do) his eyes have the same pattern but red. i know if you go paragon your eyes don't turn blue but that's what i got from it.

I think The Illusives Man's eyes look suspisciously like Saren's. Reaper Tech? Perhaps....

He does.  And I looked closer to see if it's because of his background, maybe glaring off of some screen... but in close-up shots on my big HDTV with 2 or 3 million to 1 contrast ratio (just got a new one, not much difference to the human eye between the two, but I know it's one of those specs just forgot which one but it's as clear as you can get with today's technology in the graphics world) at 600hz (refresh rate) suggest no it's not a glare, it's his eyes.

Whether you dislike his character or not... Martin Sheen did an excellent job with him.  I hope he continues to play that part.  The Illusive Man could be a number of things, including some form of humanoid Reaper.... maybe the Reaper's wanted to get rid of the "Collectors" because they figured out the Reaper's secrets and were building some of their own.... (as seen in the end of the game.. well it shows one but who knows what their plans are).

I actually like the mystery behind it, we can speculate with A LOT of different theories, and any one of them could be spot on or partially right/wrong.... which in my opinion means Bioware did their job well as did the actors.

The Illusive Man is human, but he's genetically modified and he has a lot of cybernetic implants (like Shepard in ME2). He's also a very powerful biotic, perhaps the strongest human biotic alive.

I'd say his eyes are a result from either his cybernetic implants or his strong biotics.

Reaper tech, maybe not but perhaps Shepard wasnt the only recipient of the "Lazarus Project" afterall?  It'd be real easy for them to say that Shepard was the only one in the project but the undisclosed part would be "He's the only one "recently".  The Lazarus project had to have a (no pun intended) "Subject Zero" somewhere and who's to say Illusive Man wasnt said subject?  He does seem to have near limitless resources.

What are you talking about? He's more human than human.

Even Martin Sheen doesn't trust TIM.

Just taking a wild guess here, but I'd say any indication of him separating himself from humanity in dialogue is megalomania, and the eyes are augmentations, possibly something to allow him to take in and process data much more quickly. He does say that information is his weapon, after all.

il·lu·sive (ĭ-lōō'sĭv)

Cerberus was a Alliance Top secret Black Ops and his code name was the Illusive Man, but at some point he got sick of all the red tape that still existed and decided to take Cerberus Rogue so he could do what he belived had to be done to protect humanity. They talk about it in ME1 if you pay attention and Mass Effect ascension and probably the new on coming out.

He is also very illusive.

Perhaps he's a "front" of sorts for somebody still in the Alliance.

My money is on that shifty bastard Udina.

Well, keep in mind that Illusionary pretty much means not real. A slight of hand to trick the eyes.

I personally don't think he's even human. It's in the dang name :P

I prefer "The Teflon Man"

Miranda walks around with a large can of non-stick spray for herself as well. Never is anything that happens their fault...nope it is some low level flunky...who oddly enough always gets "retired."

Also, if you choose to destroy the Collector base that planet behind the Illusive Man suddenly looses its vibrant shiny redness and becomes a pale blue. DUH-DUH-DUNNN!!!!!

I did a thread on this very subject.
I knew someone else had to have picked up on this
on my next playthrough i'm going to be much more alert to his dialogue
I'm not sure he ever uses pronouns like "we" or "us" when refering to humanity
there is always a degree of separation.
it seems too consistant to be a coinicdence
though it could be a mental condition as a poster above noted
