I forgot about him, regardless of what he think(i don't personally like his total refusal of magic and his own elven blood)he is cool
A strong character who managed to rebel against Danarius and who fought for his destiny.
Post DA2 his mission became try to free slaves from the magisters of Tevinter so i was a fool to forget him.

If Morrigan don't gain the OGB(she didn't with me) even if she is mortal  knifed  she still did cool things,to become an empress adviser,to become more rich,to do stuff in the last court.
She may be a close minded and somehow arrogant character who is a terrible person and did horrible mistakes (trap yourself for the eternity XD) but i cannot say that she is a loser.
All those things are true for Leliana the left hand of the Divine co- founder of the Inquisition and adviser of the Inquisitor ,she doesn't need the PC.
These three males characters (Andy,Sebi and Sten) lost themselves, well in truth Sten never was a "self" to begin with.
What's so impressive about these three? What initiative they took exactly?
bomb a chantry?invade a city?

I personally i dont see Sten as "loser". He did a terrible thing, but he able to penitent for it. He are loyal, and have humour, ha have good points.
He just weak as the Qun weak.

Anders/Justice/Vengeance are interest character. Anders was good, before he met Justice, and Justice was ... justice. They union was corrupted Anders and Justice too, but he are not loser: His tool is absolutely debatable, but his goal successed. the mage rebellion started. That was good thing? Just as any revolution are good thing. (+ Bad point: he would return Fenris to Danarius – This is neither "good" thing, nor justice...  illogic)

Sebastian? True. Sebastian finally being a tyrant.

Fenris? Yes, Fenris strong. Strong enough to grow beyond his hatred.

Do you truly believe that is believable that among all the Qunari in the world Sten becomes Arishok after his failures during the blights?
It was done just because Bioware want to reuse the character rather than his merits since he was defeated even  in the Silent grove..

I didn't say it was believable. I'm at a loss on how he even did it.

I'm just assuming he became the Arishok regardless of our actions.

Of course because you prefer them to be losers  in this  fictional universe

I have no idea what you mean.

This is one of those profound arguments six-year-olds have during recess.

Egg noodles are delicious. However, egg noodles are not badass.

Soba noodles are both delicious *and* badass.

I'm confused as to why the writers would do that, unless they plan on bringing him back as a character with too much content to divide between two separate characters for both him and the Arishok that would be in his place should he die in Lothering.

They might just want to leave the option open for themselves.

Stopped at "Solas & Cullen", this thread obviously has to come from a Lavellan.

Four pages, and nobody has mentioned Dorian?

Rebelled against his whole society, came to help the Inquisition when he saw what was happening at Redcliffe. At the end of the game, he goes back to Tevinter to reform it no mater what the protagonist says or does. Even if you never recruited him and/or never did his personal quest he decides that it's the right thing to do.

^ I actually was taking the lack of Dorian mentions in a positive way, since he hasn't been listed as one of the "loser" males, perhaps because of the very reasons you mentioned.

Eh but Dorian is a supporter of slavery, that is a severe flaw indeed.
But he isn't part of the losers either

Because the DA writers love to bring back characters even when it doesn't make sense.

Dorian lived in a slave-holding state. In his entire life was slaves around him, like the table around the chairs. Anyone who saw it, questions the need for the chairs around the table?

To Dorian was natural the presence of slaves. Natural things are usually not called into question. Only if there is a reason.

This is not an acquittal, just fact-finding. Maybe this is a sad thing, but absolutely part of human nature

...

I don't understand this thread at all.

Apparently, what makes a companion qualify as 'badass' is if they're independent and don't need the protagonist.... All right... Let's see how the women stack up:

- Leliana needs the Warden to help her figure out her own personality (whether she's Stabby McStabbin' or Sweetie McCupcake)

- Morrigan needs the Warden to help her fix her mommy issues

- Wynne needs the Warden to fix son issues

- Isabela needs Hawke to properly fix the tome/stealing issues

- Merrill needs Hawke to fix her mirror/demon issues

- Aveline needs Hawke to fix her relationship/duty issues

- Cassandra needs the Inquisitor to fix her faith issues

- Vivienne needs the Inquisitor to fix her dying husband/political issues

- Sera needs the Inquisitor to fix her snobby nobles issues

- Josephine needs the Inquisitor to fix her family issues

... Huh.

Uhh it seems to me you didn't even bothered to read.
All females characters regardless of if you solve or try to on their issue continue along their path and they don't need the PC.
Most male characters without the PC remain losers for the rest of their life,i even made plenty of examples.

Why should I have quoted the whole thing? I agree that he wasn't part of the losers --more precisely, I think that's a fairly idiotic way to classify the companions in the first place-- so I wasn't questioning that part.

So you're not looking for flawless characters, and Dorian's just fine? OK. The list of exceptions seems to just keep growing.
