Do or did you hate yourself?I hate kids in real life so why the hell would i want them in a video game?
We should be able to have kids.

Here's another thought: What do people think of a child...not companion, exactly, but an NPC that the protagonist is responsible for, even if not a blood relation?
Someone like Clementine from The Walking Dead or Ellie from The Last of Us?

A gift/tool. Arranged marriages with other races/factions for diplomatic relations. Here's another thought: What do people think of a child...not companion, exactly, but an NPC that the protagonist is responsible for, even if not a blood relation?

Unless the child is a son. Different situation there

Unless you're posting from 1977, you should probably be aware that same-sex couples can become parents to children in a variety of ways, even in quaint old 2016. No space magic required.
I read it as them talking about a biological child with you and your LI. And I was right since they responded with "space magic". Relax.

What would be the logic of bringing a little girl/boy on a warship when you have the big Ark ship or a colony for civilians?
Seems reckless and unnecessary.

Given we know absolutely nothing about MEA's storyline, I posed it more as a theoretical concept than anything else.

It has the potential to work, but I can see this getting pretty annoying. Clem was a cute little guilt factory, but BioWare doesn't exactly have the best track record with child NPC's. Unless there was something about the kid that made them critical to the story, there wouldn't be much reason for us to not be able to leave the kid behind unless the script forced us to have a PC that automatically cared and kept the kid along, like Joel or Lee (though in Joel's case there actually was a reason).

Yeah, a child is probably going to be about manufacturing guilt, a tear squeezer, giving a reason (aka the child is killed / kidnapped),
or regular chores.
I just don't see how any of this is a good idea, I avoided the games mentioned above, and even Bioshock's Elizabeth left me feeling torn about the concept.
I also tend to dislike games that get too heavy with emotional drama, that's just not what I'm looking for in a video game.

That's kind of mean. Fan Fiction is not for everyone. They are talking in this day and age about "designer babies" coming soon. Way in the future there will be lots of options....I'm sure science could also make hybrids. "Can't" and "impossible" are popular things to be said by plebs, till someone with a pair comes along and proves them wrong. Not that things we deal with in "reality" even matter when making a video game.
This is a great idea.

Something meaningful should come from romances aside from just sex scenes.
Of course. Something meaningful should come from romances, aside sex scenes. Like a game, a real game, a game where you play and do stuff to entertain yourself, like killing enemies, doing quests, having an adventure where your choices matter at least that bit you need to feel involved.
Good times when people were too naive to see mordacity.

Human N7 guy looks cool with a gun and rumors/leaks say the villain is another human, bingo.
You're a pathfinder, a pioneer in the newly established human settlements in the Andromeda Galaxy who is on the lookout for ancient Remnant technology you will need to further colonize the human race, but the evil Ghet (or Goats as I call them) are in your way along with the badass N7 human and at some point we figure out that the Remnants were actually [insert new kind of big baddies] and their technology is a leftover from them while the Remnants were wiped out by them and the Ghet are mind controlled by the [big baddies] and the N7 guy is too.
Something like that. The first line or so is pretty much true based on the leaks. It's ME1 2.0

Then your LI would say, "It was MY child you didn't want! You didn't want a child with ME!"
That's what my femshep said to Jacob after finding out about him dumping her and knocking up another woman instead.

Pretty much. I imagine it will be like Star Wars 7 - basically a repackaged A New Hope.

Yeah having kids with a LI in-game could be pretty cool. But so long as it's not done in a creepy manner or anything. You should also be able to fib to your LI and tell them you don't want kids, even if you really do, you just don't want kids with them cause they would make an awful parent and or because they are too old or just because your character is too young to settle down like that. Could be a fascinating mechanic to add to character development, and maybe even see some LI meltdowns. Which if written well could be hilarious.

While I have no issue with the topic of having or not having children coming up in the romance, they shouldn't actually be present themselves nor pregnancy during the span of the game.
Imagine if The Pathfinder unlocks the fertility pack, triplets...!

Bioware has in the past turned completely away from the possibility of them ever doing it.

Hmm, maybe. But it shouldn't be a one time thing then. Something like that is bound to set said LI off.
She should spam you with emails where she alternates between dumping you and pleading with you.
It makes sense because humans gotta repopulate yo.

I would be perfectly fine with adopting a Krogan. This system works perfect for me.
Didn't we already do that with Grunt?
