Well one wouldn't be much of an orgy, now would it? You know how much we love our orgies.

I wanted to post in the 'Outfits in Mass Effect Andromeda' thread, but then saw what was inside and yeah...

Sweet Andraste. Can't even a fashion thread (I'm assuming that's what it was) not become a shitshow?

Got  a very minor one, might be going a little too flexible with my character since people keep wanting to pair her up with the same person in nearly every rp of this certain fandom I'm doing. Nothing wrong with the character mine keeps getting paired with, just would like to try someone new for a change is all, but I do tell them to pick whoever they are most comfortable playing, so it's kind of on me as well

Some usual lolposting and a comment about "known groups" which will cause men to be half naked and women completely covered in the next game (which I don't know if it's serious or not). And it's a shame, because sci-fi clothing is always a fun topic to discuss.

Either way, thanks to Lady for reminding me about Remember Me. Been too long since I've last listened to the soundtrack.

Reminds me of the weirdness of the transition in uniforms from Star Trek TOS to The Motion Picture, and then to the heavy red jackets of the rest (2-6) of the movies. It seemed like with The Motion Picture that they were trying for the sleek minimal look popular with films like 2001: A Space Odyssey and so on, and then just decided to do their own thing. And then the uniforms of The Next Generation sort of combined both aesthetics, which I think is the best.

I never watched Star Trek, but I recognise the looks of TOS and TNG, but not from The Motion Picture. Which does look way too bland. The suits in 2001 A Space Odyssey were simple, but the whole movie was so well done when it comes to aesthetics that it just worked.

I mentioned being bad at the whole socializing with others thing before right? Well I just got an email from someone I haven't spoken too very much, mostly some little chit chat and setting down rules and what not, most we really know about one another is first names. I sent them an email apologizing about being so tardy with my reply to them because it's been nearly a week now and I still haven't got it sent and the first message they send is pretty normal a 'no worries I have my own thing going on right now anyway' type of message then nearly right after I get this very long message where they are sharing a lot of personal information and talking about some very serious things and I honestly have no idea how to respond to it or how to handle it. It's been sitting in my inbox unanswered for about two hours now.

^ Well, it sounds like that person has some over-sharing issues, but also may have just latched onto you as a potential sympathetic ear. You could offer some generic sympathy. Alternatively, you could reference individual items and offer your advice (if it seems like it was solicited), or more target-specific remarks. However, the downside of that is that it may encourage the person to share and dump even more personal stuff on you when you likely don't want that.

Or, after offering some generic sympathy, you could just say, "So, how about that RP thing?" and attempt to move on.

I struggle with socializing aswell, and i was actually in a similar situation a year ago. That person opened up to much and i didn't know how to handle it. I went for the sympathetic approach, tried to be understanding and slowly get back to what were originally talking about. It worked, but it didn't evolve beyond just the casual "Hi. How are you doing?". So question is who is this person to you? What is your Interest in one another, is it worth getting invested in their personal problems etc. It is a tricky situation to be sure. I wish you luck!

I honestly don't know much about her, never read the novel/comic? she first originated in. All I know is she is a Tevinter Magister and besties with Dorian, oh and trans.

She was in the The Silent Grove/Those Who Speak/Until We Sleep comic series with Varric, Isabela, and Alistair. I recommend it, it's quite good, not that long, and there is a lot of info about Isabela's past, if you're into that, plus some other lore details. Mae seems like an interesting character, and she'll probably be a companion in 4.

I liked her alot in the graphic novels. Is there some issue with Mae beeing trans? Why do people care? She is a very Interesting character.

There seems to be a lot of hostility, when she is mentioned. I don't really know why. I don't think anyone criticised her being trans (yet).

Oh, there's been criticism. It's just that people don't want to get reported, so they are careful about what language they use.

So I did not imagine there were some comments that kinda danced around it...

I'm already dreading the "PC gone mad" comments that will fill the boards if they decide to make her a companion.

Pretty embarrassing moment in my bioethics class the other day. We were talking about surrogate motherhood, and while I was trying to explain the basic process, I ended up saying, "Well, with gestational surrogacy, you take the man's egg and the woman's sperm . . . " Can't really count on the whole class to miss that one.

Why does that thread always become a cesspool every ten pages or so. EuughrhshhsiakN

Well, at least you know to pay extra special attention to those that did.
