I feel better knowing that that individual's just a troll, since he showed up in another thread and said that men who RP as female characters are 'gender confused'... yeah. Definitely just trolling.

If it's anything like with the outcry about LGBT characters, it's likely about prejudiced people getting angry that they are no longer the only group to be catered to.

Well i think Affleck pulled off what Bale never could, but that is just me. I like the darker aspects of Batman. It will be a huge discussion for years to come.

I'll reserve judgement as I haven't seen the movie. After the trilogy I'm just used to Batman being Christian Bale.. And I have a soft spot for the actor because American Psycho happens to be one of my favourite movies of all time.

It actually seems more like people are upset that games, the last bastion of [cis, het, white, bro-y] escapism, are bringing forward icky real-world minorities and reminding these people of their existence. Horrible, huh?

 

BUT -- and this is a 'uge but here -- one of the gamey elements that perpetuates this sort of problem, leading to these threads, is Bioware's lack of variety when it comes to background and mob combat NPCs. For example, there will be a single Venatori mage model who is white, male, and has the same face as all of them (there might be some facial variation, I'm not entirely sure). We saw the same thing with the innumerable "it's raining men" bandit NPCs in DA2.

 

It's a shortcut to save resources, of course, and these NPCs aren't important in the grand scheme of things, but we can't have a world without NPCs to populate it.

So, I didn't watch the whole film, but I snuck in for the ending after Zootopia finished up (I know, very bad of me) because some of my friends had bought tickets enough in advance to get it and since we were all in  the same car, we had to wait for them.

 

What I saw really wasn't to my taste...but at least I thought Wonder Woman looked great, but I suspect we'll agree on.

I know right! I think its more about Nolan's movies then Bale to be honest. Not a huge Nolan fan. I am so going to get alot of flak for this. Always liked the villains in those movies, i never connected with anything else.

Well atleast you got to see Zootopia, which is a great movie. Did you like it?

 

Affleck's Batman is based more on Frank Millers - The Dark Knight Returns, and it is way more gritty and violent. That is what i love about Batman though he has had so many great voices and actors behind him over the years. I still think Kevin Conroy and Michael Keaton is the best, but i'll put Affleck at a 3rd place for now. Want a standalone movie from him aswell.

 

And yes Wonder Woman was my favourite thing about the movie, and my biggest fear going in. Gal Gadot looked awesome!  Maybe we should start a Comic book/adaptation thread? To gather it all in one place, i could talk about it all day.

Here is an amusing thing... The UK is building a new polar research vessel and has turned to the internet for suggestions on the name of said vessel. Anyone in the world can vote (I did). The amusing thing is that you can see all of the suggestions and see them in order of popularity. There are some serious names and many non-serious ones. The #1 choice, with 10x more votes than the #2 spot, is RRS Boaty McBoatface. Lol...

 

I voted for RRS David Attenborough, which would be particularly great since he's still alive to feel the honor of such a naming.

I just don't see the point in getting overly upset over the arbitrary ratios of White people to Blacks to Indians to *insert next ethnicity*.

 

Now if this was Middle Earth and a new developer was trying to sell the idea of Dark Skinned Numenoreans or something then I'd have an issue with it because it'd just be inconsistent with Tolkien's writing, but DA has never even tried to firmly have nationality = ethnicity.
