Even more family drama~ Father didn't go to jail but he is here currently nursing a hangover and called drunk off his a** yesterday, so going to have to try and nurse him through the hangover and deal with the withdrawals. I know I'm going to get the full bront of it too since that I'm the only one at the home the majority of the time and we need to keep a close eye on him right now.
 
It hasn't even really started yet and I'm already feeling drained by it. Probably just feeling really selfish on my part though.

It isn't really for me to say, but...it seems to me like selfishness is pretty warranted in this situation. Do what you feel you need, but there's no shame in setting limits to your efforts. This is a kindness on your part, not a duty.

I don't have, and have never had, an interest in the DAI MP. I am curious though, do people still play it? If say, I got atrociously bored one day and wanted to complete my Skyhold customization collection, can I still acquire those items by killing the dragons?

DAMP is poor, just didn't work well seeing as the combat in DAI is very meh, limited maps, characters are only so so and the RNG is worse than ME3' I felt lol. I'm more so a diehard of the ME3Mp. So damn bloody addictive, plenty of fun kits to mess around with/different builds, a variety of good maps and the combat is the best of the series imo. Plus I made great friends here through mp, i still game with a lot of em when we can sync up.

I only fell back down this rabbit hole by accident. I was happily replaying the trilogy again, got to ME3, saw my GR was down and said I'll just play a few quick games and quit it. I'll be fine, I got the SP to get stuck into... Yeah well that didn't go to plan, I ended up getting addicted again, currently on my 2nd manifest right now. Starting again from scratch and really enjoying it, even got playing with newer PS3 BSN'rs since I came back, good laughs.

Shame a lot of folk I would like to play with here are mustard race

Just kidding, I'll tell you. PUG= pick up group, basically random strangers getting together to shoot all the things.

So just a silly thing about PUGs. World of Warcraft has a dungeon grouping system that forms a group consisting of a tank, a healer, and three DPS (damage per second). There is also an achievement system for the game. Once you have completed 100 PUGs, you get an achievement and a non-combat pet as a reward, which is a small pug (the actual dog).
 
You are now automatically awarded the pet and it appears in your pet journal, but it used to be that you got it in the mail. The humorous text for the mail was,
 

Dear very patient individual,
 
We'd like to recognize your tenacity in running dungeons with people you probably haven't met before. Hopefully you even showed some rookies the ropes in your pick-up groups.
 
In short, we heard that you like pugs. So here's a pug for your pug, so you can pug while you pug. Or something.

These kind of pets also have various idle animations. Since PUGs are prone to "wiping" (the whole group dying), one of the idle animations for the pet is it scooting its butt on ground (that is, wiping).

What platform are you on btw? I want to get into Mass Effect 3 MP, but it feels like its to late now. Maybe i'll get into Andromeda. Don't mind MP aslong as it is about teamwork, and not pvp.

I'm on a brand new sparkly manifest, retired my old PSN account, like having my BSN handle in game now.

 

I'm on most weekends for a few hrs or whenever I can squeeze some game time in. I can't host tho, wouldn't put others through that hell.

If you hung around the MP sections it's a common lol phrase, also haxxor master race is quite popular too. Just a mocking variety of PC master race yup.

 

I also like to use lol ecks bawks and lolpeaestree. Everyone gets a turn. Nobody plays on WiiU.

Got a friend back home dealing with serious alcoholism at 21. Really bummed cause it's really hard for me to help him when I'm about 1000 miles away from him right now. He's already almost died cause he tried to drive home one night inebriated. Several times we've tried to sit him down and talk, but he just won't listen to us.

Aw man.  That sucks.  That's really a tough one.  I'm sorry to hear that.  I had a few friends in my 20's who had serious issues with alcohol.  One of my friends was a fall-down drunk every time we went out together.  It was really not uncommon for me to have to literally carry her vomit-soaked unconscious body to the car and drive her home.  It was very taxing and, ultimately, I found that our friendship wasn't worth the issues.  She wasn't interested in my help and I wasn't interested in being her crutch/enabler.  We drifted apart.  A few years ago, we got back in touch and she still has issues with alcohol, but she's functional.  It's sad.  Unfortunately, there's not much you can do, as a friend, for someone who isn't interested in help.  I hope that your friend recognizes that he has a problem soon before something tragic happens to him or someone else.  I also hope you aren't internalizing it too much  Don't allow someone else to hobble your own enjoyment of life.  Especially at your age.

I know that the vast majority of it is stemming from some major family issues regarding one of his older brothers. And it's not a help either that his family is very wealthy, so he has easy, easy access to funding for alcoholism. And at some level, I think he's just kind of....lost. He doesn't know what he wants to do with his life and he's trying to find himself.

 

At any rate, we're trying to have him get some professional help, cause this is entirely out of our depth.

I just don't care that much about sexuality or romance in videogames. Representation is good, and i do like the romances, but we are spending 90% of our time talking about 10% of the game. Which is fine i guess, but there is more that makes the game for me than those aspects. Might come off as a little bitchy, but that is how i feel.

I don't blame you, to be honest. For me personally, it doesn't help that a ton of troll/parody threads constantly pop up. There is always at least a few people that take an obvious bait post regarding sexuality seriously. Whether it is because the poster feels the OP has a good idea, or is completely wrong, they'll jump all over it. Which leads to a fight about social politics in BioWare games. Then it is too focused on real world politics, and some folks get very personal. That leads to culled posts and acquired warning points.

I enjoy chatting about the romances sometimes, especially since there isn't much to talk about for ME:A. As much as some of the romance threads can be tiring, it gives posters something more interesting to talk about. No offense to folks that feel strongly about the move to the galaxy, but it's become a really circular debate that sounds repetitive after a point. We've got the reddit leak and survey leak. Most of that leaked information sounds like it could be legit, but until the ME team breaks their silence, we've got precisely jack to talk about with regards to the game.

I can't really speak about the DA forums at the moment. I haven't played the DLCs due to a wonderful lack of time so I've been avoiding that section. However, from what I have seen, I'm kinda glad I've stayed away. As bad as the ME forums can be about some of the more...interesting points of view regarding sexuality in the games, the DA forums has way too many posts that irritate me. So much misconception...

I'd rather leave it be. My blood pressure is high enough these days.

Edit: I finally saw the Force Awakens. A few too many call backs to A New Hope, but overall very well done.

Until some real content comes out, I'm probably gonna post only in this group and the KISA thread. Between the constant moaning about the galaxy change and the endings in the MEA board, and the endless flow of 'SWJs destroy everything, all games should be like Witcher, because female and gay main characters are PC!,' I don't see a reason to engage in any kind of conversation with those people.

It seeps out all of the enjoyment I get from BW games, and this should not be the reason I visit here.
