They asked me to use another rp post that didn't have anything to do with the fandom we were discussing. I sent them an older post, told them it was an older thing I had written and the reply I got back was along the lines of 'Your plot work is good however you do run on sentences and I don't like your grammar, I don't think I can rp with you'. After a little back and forth I asked them to point out where some of my major grammar flaws were in that post (curious to see what I messed up so badly) and was told they'd get back to me tomorrow.

Maybe I'm more relaxed than other people but I always get a little unsure when I read things like they have something like a five paragraph minimum limit for the rp replies and need perfect grammar.

Got back the 'corrected' version of my example and they only really addressed half of it so maybe either they felt they only needed to address some of it to show me what they mean, or my grammar wasn't that bad. Could be something else to for all I know. I'll fully admit I'm not good with grammar or spelling I struggle with those a lot but I didn't see that many things corrected in the example they sent back either.

Just realize I sound like I'm angry about it, I'm really not I'm just confused mostly I guess.

Remind me not to read threads that get my blood boiling before coffee.

Edit: It's already been a weird day. I got up early and went "duh" on the couch. She's All That is playing and I became fully awake to the awful song "Kiss Me." Nothing like seeing the Iron Bull (FPJ), and Kira (Rachel Leigh Cook) doing a teen movie. And I had forgotten that Usher was in it too. It's sooo 1999.

Edit #2: Hana, do yourself a favor and retreat from the thread regarding transgender characters in ME:A. I understand where you're coming from, but don't let the trolls bait you. <hugs>

Work on the room has been put off again, still not allowed to help with it either and now on top of it i haven't heard from this person in days despite calling them at least three times already, with a question about the application site they sent me to. I'm teetering on the point of pulling out my hair now in frustration.

Gah... it's not fun to try and start an exercise routine

I almost knackered myself nipping to the shops the other day because I'd forgotten to properly warm down. And it's not very reassuring either when the scales are either ambivalent or chose to go in the wrong direction that you want them to, probably because I haven't started my diet yet.

:pinched:

*Hands everyone a cup of tea, since Huldra's kettle is broken*

Actually... wait a second... did I just make myself the designated tea boy here too? Oh drat! :pinched:

Seriously, people always seem to call on to make tea for everyone, because I just happen to be standing up at the time... or sitting down... or walking by... or they call me in simply to ask! One day I'm going to answer the door and someone will be waiting to order, no doubt!

Why must I make such cracking cuppas?! :P

We had to put down Zoi this morning. She was losing lucidity fast and wasn't very responsive. She had brief moments of energy, but I could tell that wasn't my baby dog anymore.

I'll be lurking on the BSN, but I don't know when I'll be active again. It could be tomorrow, it could be a week from now. I dunno. I want to thank all of you for the support and well wishes during this whole thing.

You guys take care and stay strong. You can PM me if you want to chat.

Sorry for your loss, Nat. It's a gut-wrenching decision for any dog owner to go through, but you did the right thing. Sometimes the best way to repay them for all their years of love and loyalty is to help them go peacefully and without unnecessary suffering when their time has come.

I'm so sorry, Nat. :( You have my sympathy. It's absolutely heartbreaking to lose a pet - they're your family as much as any human.

*big hugs*

I'm finally genuinely sick of the general forum to the point of severe boredom with it. I mean, I've been sick of it before, but usually that's just, "Oh, this place is so terrible sometimes.--type, type, type."

Now, it's just, "ugh, this place."

Yup, just kinda not feeling like posting lately, been a week since I last checked in. Could be another, only signed in today to check on the groups I reg post in. Lol nearly 150 notifications greeted me... I'm so not responding back to people quoting my posts on the mains since I was last active lol. Not bothered right now, will respond to group posts today tho and then log off for another week. Got reading to catch up on and other stuff, good to take a break from this place at times.

@Nat I'm so sorry to hear about your dog passing *hug*

Oh I didn't see that you had edited your post with this.

If you don't have a word processor like MS Word, there are probably grammar tools available online that will check things for you if you really want to look into it. Of course, that doesn't mean that the suggestions will be great; some things are stylistic choices, some simply "sound" better, and some suggestions are flat-out wrong because it's a dumb computer program that can't think. (Although I do highly recommend Word 2013 if you can get it.)

In any case, it just sounds to me like they were either trying to come up with some excuse, are simply elitist, or take that stuff way too seriously.

Also, while there are some hard rules for some things, there are many examples where the rules have changed over time or for which different institutions (newspapers, universities, various style manuals) have differing opinions and recommendations. Some will tell you that the passive voice is always bad, but it has its place; sometimes a split infinitive just sounds better and is more readable; on and on. And don't get me started on lay vs. lie, the Oxford comma -->, the semicolon, or Jesus' vs. Solas's possessive singular apostrophe...

Are other languages this bad? *Sigh*

I'm kind of obsessed with this Solas thread; I just keep checking it to see if there has been actual progress. The endless bickering is quite humorous.

Went to finish out my application yesterday and found the position removed from the website all together at least in the area I was looking for it. Called up some family, had a hard time understanding them (two people talking at once the entire time does not make for clear communication) but they said they'd talk to some people and get it squared away.

Got a call from the place I'm trying to apply to and had to explain to them several times why I was unable to fill out the application, (their site would not allow me too since the position is closed) was told it was taken down just because and would be back in a few days and that I should come over and apply at their store. Using the same website where the position no longer exists on.

So going to have to get up very early tomorrow to be driven out there and am currently unsure if I'll be able to come home that day or not due to the one car situation at the place I currently live at.

Not to mention I'm horribly nervous about the whole thing since the application calls for things like 'tell us why you deserve to work here' and I'm awful with that kind of a** kissing bullsh*t and the last time I did something remotely close to an interview I failed badly.

The position in questions asks you not to bother people working there or to go talk to them so why the hell do I need to be all bubbly and giddy and outgoing for that?

Sorry for the kind of long incoherent rant, like I said I'm nervous so I'm chalking that up to why I'm not making much sense I guess.

Because in this day and age they demand that you are more than your job. Well.. At least in the applying process anyway.

It isn't simply enough that you will go to work to do your job - you are expected to bow down like a peasant servant and arse kiss to impress them.

My nerves are so racked up right now, if I didn't have to get up early and didn't have anything stronger than wine available to me I'd probably drink with the intent of getting sh*t faced for the first time in my life. Dr Pepper and cringey videos will have to do.

I hate being bad at a** kissing, that's why I apply for grunt work in the first place so a** kissing isn't expected of me.
