I think I accidentally fed a troll thread. I've been reading it and there seems to be a level of insistence that I only see with bait posters. I keep trying to give folks the benefit of the doubt. Remind me to wait on those kinds of threads for about 4-5 pages before I post.

All of this drama over a few minute tribute video. Jeeze Louise. As far as I'm concerned, I said goodbye to Shepard at the end of Citadel.

People with strange concepts of what qualifies as closure aren't uncommon around here. I suspect they had good intentions, but in bringing up gender doomed us all to another round.

Bringing up the demographics argument has to be a drink though.

I sometimes know a thread is bait but give a serious reply anyway, because I'm bored.

It's a good thing I wasn't born a salmon.

Damn some of the stuff people can get away with, I'm a little surprised.

I heard about the huge wildfire in Canada. I hope everyone is okay, and stays safe.

I tried to post that on the public forums, and it was yanked down. Apparently offering condolences was too OT. :(

This isn't an angreh rant so much as it's a happy/weepy one, but I'm cryin' like a tittybaby because one of my clients bought me potted flowers for Mother's Day to put on my mama's grave. Some people have big hearts.

I'm going to go into lurk mode for awhile except maybe around here. I'm waiting for E-Play because the threads have gotten very redundant. However, a poster tried to claim that Disney and George Lucas were anti-LGBT. This was my response:

Tonight I learned that Disney has been offering benefits to same sex couples since 1995. Anti-LGBT my foot.

Man, people really don't like it when you shoot down their lame-brained ideas.

Very small one here.

My lack of an ability to find images (particularly gifs) for things is annoyingly poor. I need to get better at using google.

Ah yes, black and white thinking. Really something to be proud of.

Google is not that good for gif search. Giphy and gifme are tag based, so it's easier to find something there.

Lol I'm starting to think that certain posters' blood pressure is going to rise from having to continually deal with that other poster in several different threads.

Well, it depends on whether you know what the gif is depicting. I recently had to search for the Clue "Flames on the side of my face" and also Stephen Colbert's "Give it to me now!" and that worked out all right. But like... that octopus scooting away and going, "F no, I'm outahere," or whatever it is; I have no clue how that would be Googleable.

I still want to say gif with a hard G instead of jif. Damn that man for coming out and saying, "Well, you know, everyone's been pronouncing it wrong all this time." <_<

Even those snub me  guess I should start looking for something else. Thanks for making me aware of those sites.

Well, if you know the origin, and/or the exact quote, then you will probably find it. If you just know, what reaction the gif presents, but not from where it is, a tag system helps a lot. The octopus one is also very specific, writing octopus alone gives you the nope related search. But if I didn't know, for example, that this

tumblr_inline_n66n9tEzBQ1qh39fv.gif

follows her saying "Oh my god, I love it," I'd never be able to find it.

And it's gif like in gift, everyone else is wrong.

And now the thread has been closed, all because of certain trolls... wonderful.

Not wanting to tell the mods how to do their job, but punish the poster, not the thread. :pinched:

^ I hear ya, but it would help if people didn't actually engage. Even posters who should know better just kept responding to his trolling.

Yeah, I shouldn't... but it's becoming increasingly difficult to avoid threads that now require you must walk over the troll bridge.

It can be hard to ignore, especially when it develops into a kind of large scale campaign on his part. If someone is in a thread that's meant to celebrate something and it's being used to express hatred of another thing, I always find it a little annoying.

I'm going to repress my urge to engage from now on. Trying to convince someone hateful to be less hateful is a waste of time.
