I feel like this forum needs a visit from the Ghostbusters, to get rid of the repeated haunting.

We've got some black mold, thanks to a flood in the bathroom by the previous tenant. So we've got mold mitgation to do. Plus, our house was built in the late 1970s and the electricty isn't up to code. That's even more money and while we can afford it, those two things have to get done in the next week or two. Spring can't end soon enough.

I had some of that in my bedroom before, due to having some furniture pressed up against an outer wall for a long time. Didn't even realise that was possible until I was rearranging the furniture and thought "Holy hell!"  :o I dread to think how long I was inhaling that. We got some kind of spray to kill it off, then washed the wall and eventually painted over it. Didn't put any more furniture on the outer wall though.

So, apparently marriage kills men and "old" (40+) women are like spoiled milk... Andraste's dirty socks, EA play can't come soon enough. I cannot count how many times these last few days I've seen people claim to be omniscient (or rather clairvoyant). Yes, now I will describe this thing I have never experienced, but know everything about!

In related news, I've finally added some people to the ignore list.

Is that the thread about Cassandra's age? I read some of that yesterday and wept for humanity. I guess it's only gotten worse!

Worse? Perhaps. It just makes me laugh and then sad that people actually have those opinions. Reminds me of a TW3 thread that went out of control and turned into a 'discussion' about what women gamers are supposed to play. I learned a lot about what I should and should not like with video games that day.

I think most of the people I've known who played The Sims were guys and fairly serious about games. Most of the women I know who play games seem to favor shooters.

Like there's anything bad about playing the Sims anyway.  Who doesn't love to watch people make 50 bowels of ice cream and then lock them in a doorless toilet for a week. Or put them in a maze of ovens on fire.

Tbh, my little bro was the one that got me into those games in the first place. We did split-screen, back when that was a thing.

I... actually thought you you were a dude. Oopsie.

I actually quite like shooters. When I had an N64 I really enjoyed Perfect Dark*. The only other shooters I've gotten into have been the Bioshock games where there is a heavy focus on story. I have no interest whatsoever in the multi-player components of these modern shooters, or the "kill the Muslim terrorists" unoriginal concepts, so I haven't bothered with them at all. Since the MP is the main feature of these games, I don't see a point in buying one if the SP campaign is going to be given short shrift. In addition, I play on PC, so a series I know I would like, Uncharted, is not an option.

* This probably makes me a terrible feminist, but the main character of Perfect Dark was a woman. On some occasions, when you shot an NPC, his death cry would be, "Ugh, you b*tch!" I always thought that was hilarious for some reason and laughed every time I heard it.

 all good, you aren't the first on here to think that. Must be how I come across.

@everyone else: don't get me wrong, I've played Sims for silly reasons. I tend to get addicted to it for a week and then I'm kinda over it.

Truth be told I play all different types of games. I'm not fussy.. From RPGs, to shooters, to 3D platformers like Ratchet and Clank (though they don't seem to be big these days) sandbox games like SR and GTA. I like to have variety or else I'll just get bored.

The poster I was talking about made the assumption that females only play Sims or casual Android games where as dudes apparently play RPGs and shooters and it's just silly.

Ah, the N64 days. I did the GoldenEye 007 thing with my brothers. (Best MP ever. Fight me.) It was the only shooter I played at the time. I was put off of them as a younger gamer because my brothers were far superior than me at them. Now, we're evenly matched. I kicked their trash at Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario 64, and Ocarina of Time though. I also only play shooters that focus on story or are not made specifically MP heavy.

Oops, not a vent. Sorry.

:bandit: whoops, me too. Sorry Donk.

Sometimes it's kind of weird not knowing the gender of some people I talk here to. In English you can easily have two people talk without revealing each other's or their own gender. In my native tongue it's virtually impossible (unless you insert the word 'person' in every single sentence and use its gender instead, which is female).

Anyway, I'm also playing, what I'm not supposed to  :P I always sink a lot of time in Sims on building the house, then a short while for actual gameplay, and then I get bored and kill them off.

And I generally don't play a lot of shooters, they either have to have some spin on the mechanic (Saints Row 3, Dying Light) or be very story heavy (Dead Space, Mass Effect, Bioshock).

I know Donk, just bustin' your chops. :P

Same Donk, I've played all types of game genres however, the only games I don't really enjoy or bother with are racing titles, just meh. Oh and shooters like CoD or Battlefield, just doesn't appeal to me at all.

It's silly otherwise as well, since men play android games all the time too and it's not uncommon for guys to play Sims either. Women play some games more than men, but all kinds of games are played by both gender in the end.

It's mostly two people driving it at this point. But I think the thread had run its course anyway. Most people with some sort of legitimate, well-reasoned opinion, whether for or against, had said their peace. Until we know more about Maevaris or whether she will actually BE in the next game, further discussion is pointless.

However, I DO still have hope that, if she is in the next game, and a character thread is created, while it might initially contain some of the same vitriolic posts, those individuals will eventually get bored and the thread will settle into more meaningful discussion, intermixed with occasional fangirl/boying over the character, as all other character threads have done.

At least I got to see some great fanart!

Kind of a minor one but finding out that im in the 'cockroach' department of this place. More rules and more strict, like we cant sip on water where customers can see us but other departments can. So if i get thirsty i have to call my superviosor tell them im leaving the floor the sneak into a bathroom or exit to have even a sip of water.

The only racing game I really enjoyed was Mario Kart. Oh and I once played Sonic All star racing with my ex's little bro.. And liked it :bandit:

I love shooters, but I find I'm drawn to the "unrealistic" or silly ones, like Borderlands, Bulletstorm, Halo Warhammer 40k Space Marine, etc. Recently picked up Doom. :P I can't stand COD or Battlefield either. It's just boring to me.

It was starting to annoy me when lgbt "correct representation" was brought up.

Yeah, that Mae thread is a war zone. The current topic of conservation is how straight people are oppressed because all evil characters are straight. Oh, and the straight characters in the Inquisition are 'token straight' people in the 'Gay Pride parade' that is the Inquisition.

Seriously, even if I were making **** up to make fun of these people, I couldn't come up with the this ****......

I nope'd out of there right around Dethmold. The 'correct' representation was annoying enough, but now it's complete garbage. We'll have to wait for some new info for the thread to survive on it's own.

The reverse writing was just...confusing. I don't think I've ever seen a thread derail in such a bizarre way.

Right after I posted this, I saw that the thread had been closed.
