I don't want to reply to that thread, but I did want to mention Hobby Lobby.

That's funny. I've never even seen a Hobby Lobby, nor could I imagine anything that I might want to buy there. I'm the kind of person who throws a shirt away when the button falls off because I'm about as un-crafty as can be. But delicious friend chicken sandwiches with pickles.......?<pain>

I've never been to (or seen) one either, but if it's anything like Michael's, and you like Christmas for the decorations and stuff, it's worth going just to look at all of the Christmas decorations. And you know, if you want to do something like have a plain wreath that you can decorate yourself (perhaps you do a different color theme every year), then you can find a wreath and decorations all in one place.

Oh dear. From this thread: http://forum.bioware...mancing-anyone/

It would also allow me to play a proper bisexual character for once. In the past, we would usually have to choose one specific romance in a Mass Effect game (unless you count, changing romances between games), making it difficult to play as someone of that sexual orientation.

Are the ME boards always this bad? I've seen some bad crap in the DA forums, but I really don't recall it getting nearly as bad as some of the ME stuff you all have shared. I mean, thread after thread after thread...

The gamergate thread is wow.

Just lots of things going on in there. I mostly read through to like all of Dave's posts.

Pretty much. DA sections can get pretty stupid threads too (look at the locked threads in the general spoiler section of DAI), but ME is the bigger franchise of the two, so it gets more attention. And terrible posts...

I also think that because it's a science fiction oriented third person shooter RPG, it attracts a different audience than DA, which is a fantasy oriented third person tactical/action RPG.  The former tends to get a more.....traditional gamer audience than the latter.  An audience that is less likely to really be faced with issues of inclusivity, so they are more likely to react with such threads.  Of course that's a generality.  But I think you all know what I'm getting at......

Yep, aside from some fans that have little experience with RPGs and are confused, why people care about the RPG elements, there are the...um, let's call them stereotypical shooter fans. Fans that are often proud members of a group called playergate, or something  :P

I'm actually surprised that no one brought up #notmyshield. That was gamergate's way of trying to rebrand themselves. Not too surprisingly, it didn't work.

Yeah, I hate radicals, no matter which way they swing. One of the most sexist groups of people I've met where a bunch of women. No joke. Anyone that thinks men are lesser for the way they were born makes me sick. This was the type of group that thinks that men should be treated as subordinates. They tend to be the loud minority that makes all feminists look bad. <spits>

On the other hand, there is crap like Gamergate and #notmyshield. "Stop with the protests and pushing your agenda. Meanwhile, we're going to protest and push our agenda, but we're in the right damnit!"

<in Wrex's voice> Idiot.

Of course, this all begs the question: Why haven't the mods taken down the thread yet? I'm not saying that folks don't have a privilege (posting on the forums isn't a right,) to post their opinions, but it's going to get uglier and uglier in there.

Omg he actually said "SJW feminazis."

There needs to be some sort of checklist, or thread bingo, or something, that we can play using certain terms.

I meant #notyourshield. It's basically gamergate backpedaling and going, "Oh, we're just opposed to the SJWs trying to speak for everyone. We're coming out against that, because we don't believe in speaking for an entire group of people. Oh and something something ethics in journalism." Meanwhile, nearly every single poster that I've run into on the BSN that identifies as a gamergater is all too happy to speak for every straight man everywhere. There is a couple of exceptions and they aren't total jerks about it.

Oh, good grief.
