That one's another charmer. He has a similar habit of making up new definitions for existing words.

For example, his thinking that it's possible to apply "sexual force in a consensual way."

I read that response twice to be sure it's not my grasp of the language that's failing me, and decided to just ignore it. I'm not sure in what way would a straight version of 'I kissed a girl' be considered progressive, but that's nowhere near the main issue. The sexual force thing plus his previous post make me really uncomfortable, because I can't say, if he's being...creative with language or if he has a twisted understanding of what consent is.

Of course. What better way to excite a man than by revealing that you have the pharmacological regimen of a Jewish grandmother?

You mean you wouldn't want someone to seductively whisper antihistamines or cough syrup in your ear? Weird.

Well...to be fair, there is a fair amount of overlap between BDSM, power, and sexual assault. Concepts like control, objectification, and force that are often associated with sexual assault are also commonly explored themes in BDSM. The key distinction is that BDSM applies those things as fantasies acted out in a safe environment, rather than as the truly harmful realities they entail.

But the issue with those posts is that we cannot talk about consent or a safe environment, when the idea presented is 'let's change the orientation of a character with sexual force.' It seems less of a problem with people understanding what BDSM is, and more with people not understanding what BDSM shouldn't be. Some seem to be forgetting parts of 'safe, sane, and consensual.'

That one has a twisted understanding of everything.

Sexuality apparently is less to do with what's attractive to you and more about how you express yourself.

Ugh. It's probably pointless to try to explain that it's not how it works.

ugh so bored recently

Every time I try to make plans something falls through or someone backs out, getting annoying.  Finally had dinner with one of my friends which was nice since I needed the boost, asked out a girl and got shot down.

Aye, that's what I was getting at.

BDSM can be rough, but nonetheless is something that both partners consent to and that's the reason safe-words exist, to always allow for one or both to opt out at any time.

Using any kind of force on someone who does not consent to it (and for the purposes of trying to "convert" them to another sexuality) is in no uncertain terms, the definition of sexual assault.

In-universe, it'd be just the same if we had an Asari character who gets their kicks by mind-melding with others without informing them first, because even though the act was mental and not physical, it would still be a violation if it was non-consensual.

Well, I can understand the power fantasy behind the idea of being able to make people question their sexual orientation with your sheer sexual magnetism. I mean, it's a silly concept (that's maybe a little offensive if you think about it), but it's in the same vein as many other ego-tripping fantasies.

It's the "force" part that raises red flags. And qualifying with the label of "consensual" doesn't help, it just makes it an oxymoron. But let's be super charitable and say that what he really meant was something more along the lines of "forthcoming" and "direct" as opposed to "aggressive" and, well, "rape-y." That still leaves us with idea that someone would respond to "No thanks, I'm a lesbian" with *takes shirt off * "How 'bout now?" That's like Zapp Brannigan levels of overconfidence.

I seriously would not want to know or be associated with someone like this in real life. This is disgusting behavior.

This is my fault guys, and I'm sorry. I know that there's a poster keeping a close eye on us and I still vented about them anyway.

I am not going to be this careless again.

I think Nightscrawl was talking about the act of trying to pressure someone to have sex, even if the object of that attention points out that their orientation is incompatible.

Believing that isn't just about fantasy, though. People with ginormous egos like that don't confine the behavior to private fantasy. Those are the same ones who actually say to lesbians that they just haven't had the right man yet. Just... ugh.

Any of you who live in somewhat drier climes should pop into my neck of the woods and take the rain with you.

I haven't worked a full day in weeks.

Honestly, don't worry about it (and technically, I was the one, who made a post about that thread first). I thought I'd care about my first warning point, but the only annoying thing is that it says "1 warning points," and OMG BW, it would take literally 3 short lines of code to fix it. I'm honestly hoping for a second one, so I won't be greeted by a grammatical error every time I post  :P

Yep, when people write about it with such conviction, you begin to wonder, whether they would act so in reality. The whole thing wouldn't be so creepy, if "corrective rapes" weren't a real thing. Sadly, they are.
