Being accused of trying to get out of work and being talked down to really sucks. I got a weird thing about dishes I can not touch anyone else's wet dishes without gagging horribly I know it doesn't make any sense but it's something that makes me ill to my stomach almost right away. My grandmother has known about this for years and yet she still accuses me of being lazy and full of sh*t and even calling me both stupid and full of sh*t. That does not ever get less annoying no matter how many times it happens which is all the damn time. Even more so when I've told her several times I'll do the dishes but she has to get some thick rubber gloves first for me. Gonna stop now before I go into a huge long winded rant about her attitude in general.

I don't know what to say Huldra. I'm just so sorry that she says those things to you. No one should have to hear that.

I'm always frustrated when people imply that talking about things like romances is a sign of an inability to distinguish between fiction and reality.

Genre snobbery sucks.

Thanks Lady A. I know it's how she is and should be used to it but really bothers me when I get accused of things like that in an insulting manner. I don't mind getting called out on things when I'm being lazy but something about this family we/they have to jump right to the 'You're full of sh*t' or 'You can't be this f*cking stupid' or 'Have you done anything today?!' Anyway I'll stop now, just in one of those moods I guess with the moving still being on the table and my aunt who I'm moving in with being just like that as well.

Well, my husband and I got through the other night mostly unscathed. I was only a little ill and slept if off.

@Huldra Your stomach issues sound familiar. Have you been tested for Celiac's yet? If not, you might want to look into it. Folks with untreated Celiac's have severe body pain, and chronic fatigue. They also tend to be bloated or underweight, and well as constant stomach issues. I'm not saying that's the case, but it's something you might want to consider looking at.

Speaking of which, every time I read about some jerkoff chef saying that they would intentionally rub a piece of bread on a gluten free piece of food because "Celiac's isn't real," I see red. My husband loves things like McRibs and beer and poundcake. If he had a choice, he wouldn't wish that on his worst enemy. Just because the reaction isn't immediate doesn't mean it's okay to serve someone with Celiac's regular wheat gluten. It can take up to a week for the symptoms to show. I hate douchebags that think anyone that's gluten free does so because of some sort of "trend."

Edit: It's not even an allergy, it's an autoimmune disease. If left untreated, the silica in the lower intestines will be destroyed. The body attacks itself in response to wheat gluten. Intestinal cancer is very common as a result. Malnutrition is also common as well, since the body can't absorb wheat and attacks itself. Which means food doesn't get properly digested.

Not a real problem, but im back in the city and I can't decide how I should deal with st. Patrick's Day. I kind of want to go out, but I don't really want a lot of drunken crowds and I didn't make a reservation anywhere.

I really don't remember saying anything about stomach problems before. If I did I've utterly forgotten about it. Though I am reminded to talk to my doctor about another stomach problem though she did blow off the other thing I mentioned but that could be struck up to me seeing a problem were there wasn't one.

On another note we've had to take another cat to the vet to get his penis removed, this is the second or third cat this has had to happen too and I'm rather suspicious that there is something with either the water or the food we buy that is making the cats get such back urinary track infections that they need their genitals removed. But I'm not a vet so maybe this is just really common and I've never noticed it before but it really feels like it shouldn't be to me.

As soon as I read about your poor cat(s), Huldra, I immediately forget everything else I was going to post or say today.

Just ...

I mean, holy ...

How is that even ....

I don't want to come across as Commander Shepard thinking asari needed other species in order to reproduce here, but ...can this actually be a thing? Dear Maker, change their diet

Also, welcome home, Lady Artifice :)

Sorry for getting you off track with your original post^^;

Yes it sadly is a thing I feel so bad seeing him like that, it's not like it fixes the problem really either since for the rest of their lives they still need to be checked and have hair pulled out of the hole to keep it from clogging. But I"m allowed zero say at all what happens to the cats not even allowed to voice an opinion on it either without being met with hostility. Got told to shut up the other day for suggesting to change the food. Though to be fair we usually argue about the cats so she probably thought I was going to say something else. (My grandmother has a pretty bad cat addiction, the house has been ruined by them and she's well in the double digits of the animals.)

Doesn't make me feel any less sad seeing little Quinn like that though. I don't consider any of the cat there mine but he would be the closest to being my cat.

EDIT: Anyway sorry about that I know this thread is for stuff like this but still sorry.

Treats anyone?

And now negativity in the Dorian thread is making me not want to go there, one of my "safe" spaces on the BSN. That's just f-ing great.

I mean, I get that some people were disappointed with the character and the romance for whatever reason, and they can express that, but it would be nice to be able to escape that sh*t other than to, you know, avoid the place entirely. I am SO f-ing tired of this sh*t over and over and OVER again with this character.

F*ck!

End rant. I'll go away now. -_-

So it's kind of been my dream since I was a kid to write and I have some cool ideas for a fantasy novel, but it's seriously frustrating me that my mind always seems to always goes entirely blank when I actually sit down to try and get the blighted thing started.

Honestly, the longer I go without getting anything done makes me seriously worry that "writer" is becoming my oblique way of saying to people that I'm "professionally unemployed".

So yeah, that's a thing...

I find that my best ideas occur to me while falling asleep or while waking up. After losing more than one idea/concept by thinking that "I'll remember it later," I finally just decided to keep a notebook by the bed. There have been several occasions where I will just sit up and write out several paragraphs. These serve as the starting point once I type them into the word processor. But... sometimes I will just have that and it sits in a file for a long while until I can come up with more.

Also, don't be afraid to write "out of order," as it were. If you just have a random scene, or a description, build on that. You can go back and straighten things out in accordance with the various rules after you've gotten things down. I think that the rules can sometimes dampen creativity. Get it out of your head first and worry about the rest later.

I don't know if you already do, but perhaps writing fanfic will help get the writing juices flowing. That way, you don't have to build an entire world from scratch and can focus on events and characters you're already familiar with. Try writing out a dragon fight, describe one of the maps in the purplest prose (I'm a sucker for this due to being a fan of Edwardian and Victorian literature) you can manage, and other such exercises.

Yeah that whole thing just I flinch even as a female whenever it has to happen.

It's called Strawberry daifuku I've been wanting to make some myself but yeah the ingredients needed and where I live won't allow it to ever happen

I feel your pain.

I have the skill to write, it's always come naturally to me.

But lately? Writer's block is kicking my butt. I have ideas, and then when I actually get to starting it.. Nothing. So I force myself, and write maybe a chapter or something.. Then I read it again and I nitpick every single thing I find wrong with it.

So then I rage quit and scrap it.

It's really getting me down, since one day I hope to publish something. It doesn't necessarily have to be a bestseller or anything (considering mainsteam's taste is.. Questionable, looking at you, Twilight)

I just don't understand. I never had trouble like this before.

For now I've given up.. And I'm waiting for it to just magically come back, like flicking on a switch in my brain. I'm also examining other areas of my life and making changes, to see if that's part of the problem. I just dont know.

For the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, I've been rewatching the entire original series. I finally got to this episode, and now I have this damn song stuck in my head. Damn space hippies.

This is going to sound awful but i think I should stop accepting rp requests from guys, seems to never lead anywhere good when I go with it. Most current one hasn't done anything yet but I did get a strange 'I"m sorry as well but I'll get to that later' message from them so I'm feeling slightly uneasy now.

Never mind I'm just assuming the worse at the first sing of potential trouble.

Amateur drinkers? I guess. They certainly get wasted enough. I ended up going to the Tonga room--a tiki lounge inside the Fairmont hotel, which is festive, just not in a way people celebrating St. Patrick's want it to be. It was loud, but not rowdy.

Here is a fun thing I thought I'd post. If any here have longish commutes, gym workouts, or just periods of mindless computer activity at work and might like to listen to audio books rather than music, might I suggest LibriVox? These are all recordings of books in the public domain, so they are 100% free, and come in various formats.

As with anything of this type, there will be various levels of quality. You can explore by genre, author, or title.

I do have three reader recommendations. I primarily listened to these folks while I was doing many many MANY hours of copious, mindless farming, or battle pet leveling, in World of Warcraft.

I only stick with solo works of individual readers, and stay away from group projects.

Mark Smith is my favorite. He is an older gentleman, but has a youthful voice and is SUCH a pleasure to listen to. My favorite reading of his is Ben-Hur, and I think it's also the best for all of the various performances he gives. He emotes very well, and has a wide range of voices, including women. He also has a large, eclectic catalogue from various genres.

Thomas Copeland is also an older gentleman with a more sophisticated voice; he took a bit getting used to after listening to so many of Mr. Smith's works. This fellow has read the first five of the John Carter Mars books, which I highly recommend for entertaining pulpy romps. Mr. Copeland doesn't really get too into the voice work, and more or less reads to you as any other novel.

Elizabeth Klett is a woman and reads a lot of female authors, including Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, one of my favorites. She's also done quite a bit of Jane Austen. She has a serious, medium-range voice and is pleasant to listen to.

^ Ramon Tikaram (Dorian) has some also. I'm not sure if I could deal with that XD. I'd probably have to listen to the first half twice, as it would take me that long to not think of whichever character. In fact, someone on Tumblr did post several snippets of Dorian-esque clips from one of his books, and it was totally freaky, almost to the point of thinking that they were found audio from deep within the game files, or something.

In other, less pleasant news, I cannot deeeeaaal with self-righteous, moralizing assholes who've deluded themselves into thinking they're better than others based on some arbitrary standard they've set for themselves and other people. Uggghhh! I'm gonna go all hikikomori and never leave my house again. Or touch the Internet. Or the phone.
