In other, less pleasant news, I cannot deeeeaaal with self-righteous, moralizing assholes who've deluded themselves into thinking they're better than others based on some arbitrary standard they've set for themselves and other people. Uggghhh! I'm gonna go all hikikomori and never leave my house again. Or touch the Internet. Or the phone.

Well that post could apply to a few things.

True. But I'm just whining about my coworkers.

Just noticed some little black lines on the bottom screen of my DS. I guess it's finally giving out on me. At least it lasted longer than I thought it would, still kind of sad to see it slowly dying on me, even more so with lacking the funds to buy a replacement. Though as far as problems though this is a really really tiny one.

I'm going to have to think of a good way to try to soothe my Aunt's ruffled feathers. She's in a perpetually foul mood right now because one of her coworkers sent a letter of resignation and named my aunt as one of her specific complaints.

My aunt says she hates the job and she's looking for a new one, but she's looking at one in an area of the city that's not easy to get to by public transport (One does not simply have a car in San Francisco--unless one is rather absurdly wealthy or blessed with one of the very rare personal garages a few people have--which means they're probably wealthy), and I know she's going to hate having to walk that far every morning.

Anyway, I didn't spend very much time with her while I was out there, and I know that doesn't make her feel any better. I need to find a way to try and cheer her up.

^ Oh gosh, thanks nightscrawl! Great recommendations. I never gave audiobooks any thought... until I found out Nick Boulton has several under his belt.

Which? Omigosh, gimme. I need this.

^ Ramon Tikaram (Dorian) has some also. I'm not sure if I could deal with that XD. I'd probably have to listen to the first half twice, as it would take me that long to not think of whichever character. In fact, someone on Tumblr did post several snippets of Dorian-esque clips from one of his books, and it was totally freaky, almost to the point of thinking that they were found audio from deep within the game files, or something.

James Norton is seemingly everywhere on telly at the moment in the UK, I seriously can't watch Granchester without just seeing Cole dressed as vicar or seeing Norton wearing that massive hat.

I was especially chuffed to see Ramon Tikaram was also in Happy Valley, if only they'd had been in the same scene, would have made my day to see "Dorian" and "Cole" interacting on screen.

I know that Nicholas Boulton has narrated some Laura Kinsale novels. If you go on youtube there's a behind the scenes clip of him meeting the author and doing some recording work.

I just can't get over how much he looks like Hawke when he grows a beard.

I'm trying to give up, or at least drastically cut down, on the soda. It's not going well.

I'm also vacillating about whether I want to recreate that, "Your ideal friendship," thread in the ME:A section. I was trying to set up something a lot of people would want to share in, but mostly I just ended up with complaints about ME3.

Silly question but do you usually go with the bottles or cans? I find it much easier personally to cut down when I have individual can sodas, simply because ones you open a plastic bottle it goes flat pretty dang fast and that tends make me feel pressured into drinking it all before then which then leads to someone in the house buying more of it.

Both. It's bad. I like having cans to take to work and such, and I like how much colder they get. But at home I use my Riedel cola glasses.

I love everything about them, especially the shape.

Oh hmm I usually have an easier time with cans but I usually stuff them in the garage so I can sometimes forget they are there and have to wait for a cold can if I want a drink.  Course usually if I can stay off of something for three to four days I can stay off for a good chunk of time until I go back into the rut. Good luck on quitting  or cutting back on the soda.

Those glasses are kind of pretty, they'd never last at my house, last time we got nice cups they lasted close to a year before they all get smashed one way or another.

Four years later, it's still the favorite thing to do for a lot of people. I still live in hope that some substantial Andromeda news will change the trend. Not much hope, but it's there.

Tried that Vocaroo thing and realized a couple of things I really didn't want to, I do sound as bad as I feared (though for some reason to my ears I sound deeper but when I hear myself on recordings I sound preteen young) and my ability to hold notes or even sing on key is far far worse than I feared. I could blame it on my sore throat but I know I'd sound this bad without it.

Well people like sharing complaints about ME3's ending at least.

It's adorable how they can hang on to so much hate for so long.

Trying to joke with my gran and it turns into a fight of course and now I'm sitting ticked off probably more so than her because she legit believes that every fight we have is always my fault and she is never to blame and always breaks out the 'you're crazy' card or 'woe is me I've clearly failed in raising you' card.

Pardon me now while I get irrationally angry every time I hear her movements in the house because unlike her I actually know I hold on to stupid stuff and possibly have an anger problem unlike miss perfect grandmother.

Okay done now really.

Lol, I probably shouldn't mention I'm holding on to my hate of that still.

Well I mean, I don't exactly like it, but it's been years. I've got The Force Awakens to rage about endlessly now.

Is it a carbonation thing, or you really like the flavor of whatever soda?

If it's primarily carbonation (I feel ya there), you can always create your own mixes with a seltzer, which is what I do, and carry them along in whatever reusable drink container you prefer (Nalgene is great for BPA free, and you can drop ice cubes in it since the opening is so large). I like to combine a strong flavored juice, like cranberry, with a seltzer; since the flavor is already strong, it's not reduced too drastically by the water, and you can make it weaker or stronger as you prefer -- I like a strong, throat-searing bite to my carbonation.

You can also do the SodaStream thing, but only do that because you like the idea and flavors available, not in some vain attempt to save money (you won't), or the environment (you won't).

But, if it's the caffeine, I'd suggest weening yourself off very slowly, or you will be a miserable human during withdrawal.

Ever have one of those days where you get up outta bed, you do your morning routine, whatever that may be, and you go to work. Let's say your work day starts at 9 a.m., so you get to work and you're working away and working away and working away, and three hours go by, and you're thinking, 'Woohoo lunchtime. So, you look at the clock ...and it's 9:15 a.m.

I'm having that day.

Sadly my oldest cat is not doing too well- she has kidney failure and has gone worse quite quickly in it- and I'm afraid I have to call wet tomorrow so she can be put down. It just feels so messed up, deciding on someone's life like that, put I don't want her to suffer either : /

I'm so sorry to hear it, Panda. :( That's always so difficult. My Genevieve had to be put down a few years ago, and it still feels like a few months.

How old is your girl?

14 now, it's quite old, but not that old. It's just that I found out just little over week ago that she's sick in first place, I though she was just getting older and wasn't eating well enough, because of that, but I didn't expect her to have big internal problems that can't be fixed. Losing her and having to be one to decide on that is hard thought to get used to. :(

It's definitely a caffeine thing, but it's the sugar too. Coffee doesn't do it for me.

So, I'm trying Hansen's black cherry as a way to wean myself off slowly, but that's caffeine free, so...

SodaStream isn't better for the environment than bottles and cans? That's disappointing.

I'd never be able to totally cut off soda for myself
