While tracing the crash of MSV Corsica and its malfunctioning mechs to the abandoned Jarrahe station with the paranoid VI, I find myself consistently crashing in the Research room. I'm trying to manipulate the reflective windows to change the path of the laser, but the game keeps crashing...

I am also having this very same issue..whenever I change one of the reflective panels and the beam reengages the game crashes which makes it impossible to finish this mission.

this is fun. crashing while trying to complete this quest.
so do i just go back to a previous save and not do the mission at all?
edit: i've found if you just look at the ground and only look up far enough to change the panels (AND you change them fast when they are about to hit a 'crash spot'.... you can cycle them and blow up the tank
this took me several loads however to get right

I am also having this issue - has anyone gotten a fix yet?

Got it to work by turning all the graphic options to off.
Seems the explosion effect with all the graphics options turned on is causing the crash.

I posted about this awhile back, and found another alternate fix, at least until it's fixed fixed.
Get all the plates except the first one into the right position, then hit the first computer and turn away from the explosion. As long as you don't actually SEE the explosion, it doesn't crash you.

anyone able to post the right sequence in which to activate the panels, since looking at the scenery ahead is crashy?

I was thinking about it, but I can move the panels now but I need to get it right. If now I crash over and over again. Also the graphic I will try and place them down. If that works I'll let yall know.

Bobby's solution worked. Not looking saved the day.

"Don't look at it, Marion! Don't look into the light!"
For those looking for the solution, basically you turn the second set of plates so that the beam goes through them rather than bouncing off them, and then turn 3 and 4 at 45 degree angles so that it bounces the ray around to the generator on the back wall. You should only have to hit Computer 1 once to put it in the right position, so you can turn 2, 3, and 4 as many times as you want to get them ready before hitting 1 and shielding your eyes from the game-killing glare.
