So who forged the crown and who did he give it to? How did your casteless feel about crowning the next king of Orzammar?Finished Orzammar. Geez. Won't be able to sleep for a week after that creep show! Now to wrap up side quests and head to Denarim.

Caidin forged the crown, and Dyrk gave it to Bhelen. Being castless himself, he assumed that's from where the golem's would eventually be drawn again and wanted to eliminate the means for the nobles to continue oppressing the less fortunate. Dyrk's pretty sick of dwarven culture as it is, and though Bhelen is no shining example of what is good, he does seem more likely to shake things up, so that's the direction he went. His sister and mother being in Bhelen's house had surprisingly little effect on Dyrk. Dyrk killed Leske in the carta showdown. He understood why he was still in the carta, but could not forgive him for betraying him once he returned to Orzammar. He also let the dwarf girl go to the mage tower. He understands anyone wanting to escape the dwarves' rigid cultural structure. Overall I think Dyrk was happy to leave Orzammar again. The place does not hold good memories for him.

Oh yes! I absolutely remember my reaction to Hespith, Branka, the politics, and everything.
It's really nice seeing someone live it.

Not really new feelings, just affirmation of how horrendous the whole thing is, but he's lived in that shadow his whole life. It did make destroying the anvil that much harder.
It does really put into perspective about how much worse for women the darkspawn are than men.

Dyrk's cleared out Denerim and has started the Landsmeet. Began with a good ole verbal lashing of Loghain. I'm sure his party is a little nervous about the whole thing, being a dwarf, he's not the most diplomatic of sorts. I think Dyrk's ultimate goal is to put Allistair on the throne, but we'll see if he's able to accomplish that. On a side note, what a little punk Zevran turned out to be. I can't say he was ever my favorite, but I did give him some boots that caused him to have a strangely excited reaction. I was a bit surprised when he randomly attacked me again. No big loss, looted the nice equipment I'd given him and moved on.

He was never my favorite either.
Can I just thank you for posting like this? It's really awesome to read about someone's first experience with the series after so long knowing it backwards and forwards.

I started with this series only like 4-5 months ago after two years of persuasion from my cousin, cleared out Origins as a female Dalish Warrior in a matter of weeks, then immediately started DA2 as a female warrior Hawke and finished that in a flurry as well. I've started DAO a few times but always as Dalish Warrior... I like hacking-and-slashing at things, and in real life I enjoy going to the forests so maybe that's why I feel so drawn to that storyline.
I'm playing Inquisition as a Dalish Warrior (as can be seen from my current profile picture hahaha)... But I'm planning to restart DAO and go through as many storylines as possible...
Really fell in love with the series and hard; for years I played pretty much just Final Fantasy, so it was a 'big move' for me.
Only thing I keep groaning about is the inventory space. I keep getting that blighted "Inventory Full" message aaaall the time.
The battle system took me a while to get as well, probably why I've always chosen a warrior so far.
And the dialogue options do not always give me the result I'd wanted - noticed this especially on DA2! Decision-making is apparently really difficult for me, even in a video game... I'm just worried I'll do something irreversibly wrong!
Anyway, nice hearing of others' experiences with the games as well!
Cheers~

I picked up DAI about 8 months ago and played sporadically for a few months, a little bewildered by the whole experience. Coming from MMO's it was alot of fun but it wasn't really grabbing me although I didn't actually dislike anything about it.
A little while ago, an inlaw told me his was playing DAI and we started talking about our experiences. When he realised that I never played DAO or DA2 he said Im missing out on a great experience,
So I bought DAO and was hooked after the first couple of hours playing... Was probably one of the best gaming experiences I've had. Then on to DA2.. I must say up until act 2 I was a little disapointed but now that I'm finished, DA2 was/is hands down my favorite game I've ever played.
So now I've uploaded my world state to DAI, im looking forward to playing again and actually being able to fully immerse myself in the DA world!

Wow. The endgame was pretty heavy stuff. The revelation at Redcliffe about how the Grey Wardens were able to kill the archdemon was unexpected to say the least. Dyrk immediately volunteered. Allistair being King and all, it only seemed right. Who in their right mind thinks Morrigan's idea is a good one? The mysterious witch who supported every bad idea to cross our paths throughout this adventure? Did she really think I was going to let her have my kid (or Allistair's for that matter) and burden it with the soul of an old god so she could disappear while we just hoped she wasn't up to something bad? Has she ever not been up to something bad? I half expected Allistair to jump out of the closet and yell "April Fools!" Needless to say, Dyrk told her to take a hike...which she surprisingly did...ouch. That made the last battle a little trickier than anticipated. We made it through and rocked the archdemon with ballistas while the dwarves handled the darkspawn pouring onto the roof. Dyrk was beginning to embrace his people again by the end, getting to see their bravery firsthand. When Allistair again lobbied to slay the best himself, Dyrk easily said no. The whole story seemed set up for my Warden to sacrifice himself. Ferelden needs a king for the future, its need for my Warden stopped at the archdemon. Still hard watching his funeral though, especially seeing Leliana. Great game. Great story. On to DA2!

I actually let Morrigan go through with it.
Just for the fun of it, and to see Alistair's reaction because he can be so awkward with such things! With my female character having romantic feelings for him before, I managed to coax him into marrying Anora and into baby-making with Morrigan with no trouble! (I did refuse to stay as a lover behind the curtains.)
I heard a lot of bad stuff about DA2, but after I got into the battle system I actually liked the game a lot. (Except for the repetitive maps, haha.) I can't wait to get to play it again! I started DAO again last night, and I'm even keeping a blog about the events and choices I make, and I'm going to try other classes and races as well to get the full experience. ![]()

Enjoying the beginning of DA2. The main character having a voice is a big plus, Kirkwall is a cool looking setting, and I'm starting to get the hang of flinging magic as a Mage (planning on sword and shield for Inquisition, but we will see if I enjoy Mage more this game). My customized appearance Hawke being Mage feels right, but wow did Bethany not last long, hilarious that I spent more than a few seconds with her level up attribute points. Varric seems like a great companion, and he's the only one I don't seem to tick off when I open my mouth. No one in Kirkwall likes a smart mouthed mage apparently (just met Fenris). More to come!

Sarcastic mage Hawkes are the best! So good choice there.
Before you go to the Deep Roads, stop by the Hanged Man at night. You might meet someone interesting.

Welcome
I wouldn't sweat it on what to choose for DAO, though rogues have more loot options early on. Mages have a lot of interesting combat options. I would recommend playing each origin at least once. Dwarven noble and casteless play into part of the plot later, mages too. Human noble has some additional options at the landsmeet and can possibly become queen or king. City elf has some relevance in Denerim. Dalish doesn't get much, but the events of the Origin come back in the Witch Hunt DLC.
The choice in class in DA2 really just comes down to your preference. Mages get Carver, Rogues/Warriors get Bethany. Although it's a little hard to believe the hardline Templars in the city don't notice you flaunting magic as a Mage, but ultimately I don't think that detracts from the experience too much.
As for DAI, elves and humans have the most plot relevance. Qunari and Dwarves kinda get left out in the cold. I would say that the best story involves a romance available only to female elves, but you say you only play as male, so whatever.
Yeah same here I've not played a Dalish Elf yet and in fact it's the only one I'm missing now but I agree. It's worth playing the game multiple times and try to beat it using as mix of various different abilities each time. One of the great things about DA is the fact it does encourage you to do that which to me is pretty awesome. Obviously you don't have to but one of the things I love about this series is playing characters with various different backgrounds

Thanks for the tip, found Isabella. Trying to figure out how to balance my team now. I didn't make much ground last night. I've run into the little issue of dying repeatedly, ha! Need to re evaluate my strategy.
Glad you found her! She can be easy to miss if you don't know she's only there at a particular time of day.
Isabela can be difficult to use unless you micromanage her a lot, but there are abilities in her personal ability tree that make her a bit more durable over time. Having Aveline tank also helps.

Thanks, I'm surviving better now. I'd run into a situation where two quests were stacked meaning I was fighting two groups simultaneously. Not sure what I did differently, but I managed to emerge unscathed. Wylds has almost wrapped up all the side quests before he heads into the Deep Roads. I helped the creepy Qunari mage only to watch him self immolate, disturbing for both Wylds and Anders. Isabella rocks, I just have to keep an eye on her health bar. She seems to appreciate all of Wylds's sarcasm and coin seeking, likely a future for them. I helped the half-elf kid reach the Dailish. Wylds isn't sending any mage to the Circle if he can help it. I rocked the dragon at the Bone Pit. I'm guessing this wasn't a "high dragon" as it was much easier than the dragons from Origins. Wylds also took out the magistrate's son, couldn't let that guy keep walking around. Now to find Cullen (is this the same templar from the Mage Tower in Origins?) and finish the other remaining side quest before the Deep Roads. Here's a side question: Do I need to rotate active party members in order to build up their friendship or rivalry? Gifts seem to be rare, and there's no "camp" per say for me to talk to them. Also, when in the story is the best time to play Legacy. I didn't play any of the DLC for Origins (I watched play throughs on you tube), but have read that Legacy is great story wise. Thanks, planning on heading into the Deep Roads tonight! I'm also second guessing my sword and board elf for Inquisition. I'm enjoying the intricacy of fighting as a mage (as opposed to warrior) and am considering giving rogue a shot in Inquisition (not sure about bow or duel-wield). I'm also second guessing elf. They just look so skinny and frail. I'm not sure if I can stomach my hero having such skinny arms! We'll see, I've time to consider!
