Going to post in points, since writing it all in one paragraph might be confusing:

1) Indeed, it wasn't High Dragon.

2) Yes, it's the same Cullen you meet during mage origin.

3) Yes, you need to rotate your party memebers, since only those who are in your active party gain friendship/rivalry points.

4) Legacy is great DLC. If you have money to spend on it, you should think about getting it.

5) As for Inquisition, I'll only tell that overall I enjoy rogues more than warriors.

Thanks, I'm surviving better now. I'd run into a situation where two quests were stacked meaning I was fighting two groups simultaneously. Not sure what I did differently, but I managed to emerge unscathed. Wylds has almost wrapped up all the side quests before he heads into the Deep Roads. I helped the creepy Qunari mage only to watch him self immolate, disturbing for both Wylds and Anders. Isabella rocks, I just have to keep an eye on her health bar. She seems to appreciate all of Wylds's sarcasm and coin seeking, likely a future for them. I helped the half-elf kid reach the Dailish. Wylds isn't sending any mage to the Circle if he can help it. I rocked the dragon at the Bone Pit. I'm guessing this wasn't a "high dragon" as it was much easier than the dragons from Origins. Wylds also took out the magistrate's son, couldn't let that guy keep walking around. Now to find Cullen (is this the same templar from the Mage Tower in Origins?) and finish the other remaining side quest before the Deep Roads. Here's a side question: Do I need to rotate active party members in order to build up their friendship or rivalry? Gifts seem to be rare, and there's no "camp" per say for me to talk to them. Also, when in the story is the best time to play Legacy. I didn't play any of the DLC for Origins (I watched play throughs on you tube), but have read that Legacy is great story wise. Thanks, planning on heading into the Deep Roads tonight! I'm also second guessing my sword and board elf for Inquisition. I'm enjoying the intricacy of fighting as a mage (as opposed to warrior) and am considering giving rogue a shot in Inquisition (not sure about bow or duel-wield). I'm also second guessing elf. They just look so skinny and frail. I'm not sure if I can stomach my hero having such skinny arms! We'll see, I've time to consider!

yeah she loves a bit of sarcasm does Isabella she's drawn to that kind of humour

yeah warriors are a bit boring compared to rogues and mages mostly because they don't really have any special abilities other than being generally tough to bring down. I'm not completely knocking them because sometimes it feels good to play the kind that's hard to bring down but I have to admit  it's nice to exchange that invulnerability for a few extra powers or abilities instead. Especially as I love the rogues ability to break through locks  and things and the mages ability to attack and fight at range.

Yes he is he plays a bigger role in the second and third games though in that he's second in command of the Templars in DA2 under Meredith and in DAI he commands the Inquisition's army, your army.

I finished Act 1 last night. (I'll be honest, it was late, and I bumped it to casual to get by the rock wraith, the realization my lightening spells were doing nothing was demoralizing). Before the Deep Roads I helped the Apostate mages flee by lying to the Templars. Couldn't bring myself to kill Thrask. He seems to have a soft spot for mages (for a Templar), perhaps it is the fact that he daughter was one. I helped Cullen find what was happening with the missing recruits. He's anti-Mage to the bone (he and Fenris could have a bromance). Wylds Hawke just kept needling him with pro-Mage comments. I didn't take Carver to the Deep Roads for two reasons. One, I wanted Aveline to tank, leaving the other two spots for Varric and Anders (healer). Two, several weeks underground listening to him whining would be a punishment no one deserves. Now he's apparently joined the Templars. Talk about an inferiority complex. Fun game, interested to see what this idol that Bertrand took is all about.

If you're thinking about a rogue for DA:I, I suggest an archer.  They're my second favorite class (after mages) in Inquisition.  They're nimble and yet can still put out quite a bit of damage.  I find melee in DA:I to be a slog, honestly.  (Sad because I really enjoyed melee in Origins.)  Now, ranged is much more fun to play (for me).  If you pair an archer with Dorian (whose spells cause enemies to panic), you can pick off baddies with arrows in the back as they go running around the field screaming.  Never fails to entertain!

One good thing about Inquisition is that you can alter your PC's build during the game.  If you start with an archer, and don't like it, you can switch later to dual dagger, without losing anything except a few gold.  (You can't change class or specialization, but you can change standard skill sets.)

Archer sounds great, very different from the two classes I've played so far. I have the last two acts of DA2 to decide on a race!

Hmm.  Since you've already played a Dwarf and a Human, you may as well branch out and go for either an Elf or a Qunari.

The Qunari don't get much love in this game (and because of their size the animations for them are often... awkward), but I personally find it interesting to play an outsider type who pretty much everyone distrusts from the beginning.  On the other hand, Qunari make more sense as warriors or mages, I think.  A Qunari archer would probably be the least common build in the DA:I community.

Elves have a HUGE amount of story-connection in Inquisition.  You'll spend a lot of time in Elven ruins and learning about ancient Elven magic and lore.  If story and lore connections are important to you, either human mage or Elf (any class) are definitely the way to go.  Unfortunately, if you prefer to play male characters, the male Elf body model has serious issues.  The poor guy looks like his arms are glued to his sides.  (The female model does not have this problem at all - she stands poised with her arms out like a ballerina.)  Male elves look OK in certain armors, and lots of players have managed to overlook the issue, so it's not game-breaking.  Just weird.  While Elven archers are a bit cliche, they make total sense from a story standpoint.

The non-mage human background in Inquisition has many loyalists in the community, but I personally find it a bit dull.  It's just too easy - everyone basically accepts you.  I prefer a little more drama.  So I tend to roll mages and non-humans, and then make them anti-Chantry to add even more tension!  What can I say, I like iconoclasts.

I hope you find this helpful!  And you're in for quite a ride in Acts 2 & 3 of DAII.  Makes me want to go back and play it again, in fact.  I love snarky Hawke so much.

Eventful night. My homeboy Varric and I took out his brother. Something creepy is going on with that statue, looking forward to tracking it down. I chased the half elf Mage kid into the Fade. Tough choice at the end, decided to make him Tranquil. Wylds is all for mages, but that dude seemed headed for an Armageddon level melt down. It was Awesome to hear Isabella say "I like big ships and I cannot lie." She and Wylds are perfect for each other. He helped Fenris kill the slaver Mage. Fenris is not my favorite, so dark and anti magic. He's easily Wyld's top rival. Aveline's fondness meter hangs just to the rivalry side, she goes back and forth as I have trouble keeping straight who wants me to do what. I end up just making the decision sarcastic Wylds would make (he's not evil, just sarcastic and always looking for some extra coin). Next up is the Qunari!

Ran through some side quests last night. At some point while looking for the Herbalist's ingredients on Sundermount (which I never found) I stumbled into an old Thaig and was ambushed by demons, an abomination, and a revnant. Tough fight, seemed like it should have been a quest fight rather than a random encounter. Wylds took the evil tome, but didn't open it. Then there was an odd merchant golem. Not sure if that's important for later. Killed a dragon at the top of the mountain, still no ingredients. Oh well. Wylds tracked down the dwarven brothers into the Deep Roads. He went after the sword instead of saving the younger brother (not his most shining moment) only to rat out the eldest back on the surface. Dougal returned and ended up dead in an alley. Did he really think Wylds would give him another 100 sovereigns? Ha! Fenris is still whiny. Wylds and Isabella had some alone time, then he began talking about love, causing her to run off. Wylds didn't seem too put off. After all of that the crew hunted down the dwarf they thought had stolen the powder from the Qunari. Apparently he didn't, but he ended up not returning to town anyway...

Those two ingredients can be tricky if you don't know where they are. One is located in the crate in Dalish camp. The second one you can obtain while doing Merrill's companion quest. I suggest completing this quest, since Act 3 version has nice reward :)

Is the male elf arm-thing that big of a deal for DA Inquisition? That's the character I'd like to play, but if they are going to look strange for the whole game...

Personally, I'm still loving mages but that's not to say I don't find enjoyment in the other classes. I simply still prefer mages.

I heard that how bad it is depends on armor you use. Some just hide it better.

Oh, I enjoy mages the most as well. But only rogues and warriors were mentioned, so I said which one of those two is imo better.

He's not anti mage per se he's just feeling the scars of what happened to him during the Blight in Ferelden's circle as he explains to you later. Which is understandable given what happened. Cullen is a good man and wants to do the right thing in general he's just a little slow to trust because of what happened to him in DAO

Forgot about that part, the whole being mentally tortured when I found him in the tower. Guess that would leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Some armors aren't so bad, but yes, the male elves are the ones with the weird body shape (They look anorexic and have no shoulders to speak of). Annoyingly, Solas has a great male elf bod but it's unique to him.

Female elves have it to an extent, but it's not nearly as bad.

Yeah it would and as I said he's not anti mage otherwise it wouldn' tbe possible to romance him in DAI if you're playing one and I have romanced him as a mage before twice in fact and in one of them they got married as well. Nice ending to a sweet story.

Here are links to a few screencaps of my Elf guy.  You can judge for yourself.

I would suggest you played Legacy around the start of Act 3, that is the best time in my opinion :)

If you have Mark of the Assassin, I usually do that in Act 2 somewhere in the middle.

That is definitely a tough fight, one of the toughest in the game, imo. There's also an arcane horror that shows up at the end, and a desire demon or two popping up in the middle somewhere. Think of it as preparation for the waves of demons spilling out of rifts in Inquisition. :P

The elf arms don't bother me that much (except for 1 arm armor style that makes arms look broken, but that happens regardless who wears it). The biggest problem I had with my male elf was during his romance scene where he was shirtless. He was really skinny, scrawny almost, and way too white. I just wanted to yell at him, "Put your pajamas back on!!"

Thanks, I think I'll be ok with rolling a male elf archer. I may just have to be careful with my armor choices. Sounds like the elf story connection will be strong, and I'd like to experience that with an elf character.

Wylds found himself playing match maker for Aveline last night. She kept asking for third grade level romance help, despite his smartelic responses. I finally went to bed without finishing that quest! Wylds now has a pack full of evil tomes. I have a quest that says he's supposed to destroy them, though I don't remember receiving that quest. Wylds has decided to keep them instead, seeing the possibility of profiting off of them in some way (coin or equipment). The crew took out the elf fanatic who' stolen the Qunari's poison and now is saddled with finding the missing Qunari. (Creepy eyes on the elf fanatic BTW). Still no word on Bartrand's missing idol, or on the women who I found chopped into pieces in Act 1. I let the blood Mage Orlisian go free as he seemed to be hunting the same person, though Wylds has second guessed that decision. I love his interactions with the Asherok (sp?). The Qunari don't do well with sarcasm! I may be in the minority, but I'm enjoying DA2 at least as much as DAO. My preferred team, both for gameplay and banter, is Wylds, Anders, Aveline, Varric (sometimes subbed for Isabella). The journey continues...

Since I'm the one who mentioned the elven story connection, I will just say that it doesn't appear that way at the beginning.  The first act of Inquisition is heavily involved with mages and templars.  But the latter half of the game moves heavily in the elven history direction.  This is especially true if you do side quests to explore extra dungeons - three of which are old elven ruins.

I'm glad you're enjoying DAII!  I always had a blast playing it, too.  I saw it's weaknesses, sure, but it spite of them, managed to be a lot of fun for me.

I'm amused with how big a decision this feels. I'm only halfway through DA2, but I'll be sitting at work, and all of the sudden I'm somewhat stressed about the character selection for my Inquisitor! Elf for the lore? But they are a bit puny (and the arm thing is weird...)! Human? It may be fun to play a Han Solo personality rogue, or perhaps sympathize with the Templars. Am I sold on rogue? Choices!

Please tell me others experience this as well I've still a whole adventure with Hawke to finish.
