It clearly says the blood still has to be treated magically.
It clearly say that the archdemon blood is not necessary but it is used because it possess high concentration of taint and that normal darksapwn blood can be treated to have the same effect of the archdemon blood because it is just a matter of concentration and potency.
It also say that it is possible that if someone drink too much taint it will become a GW rather than a ghoul even without any magical preparation.
In short is a matter of concentration not of magic.
