So ive been grooming a warrior for a 2h champ solo. I have since allied w/ Templars, developed a bromance for Cullen(not like that), and feel guilty picking any spec other than Templar. Lmao don't ask why I jus game like that haha. immersed. So I'm gonna do 2h Templar w/ a team on Even Ground, Walk Softly, and  Rub Some Dirt on it. Take it Slow on/off in some areas. Ill be bringing IronBull as a tank cause I cant stand that fake wannabe poser Blackwall so I can min/max my DPS capabilities. So just going off what I know and a few threads research looks like my most my dps abilities are going to be from 2h and battle master. I would love to read some input on a built meant for a  "DPS" Templar. read not wasting points in off-tanking passives/abilities. I know I wont be doing Tempest or even Reaver damage but Id still like to maximize what I can do. I realize its not rocket science but I'm sure we all enjoy reading threads on different builds and what not, so any advice, masterwork suggestions, or build suggestions for this this 2h Templar are highly welcome.

you want upgraded charging bull, your two templar spells, upgraded mighty blow and i take block and slash, pommel strike and whirlwind with vortex of steel. for masterworks, i like walking fortress and walking bomb, mainly because of the spirit damage.

oh, and in my opinion, iron bull is good until you get to level 12 or 13, but after that unless you are just traveling with him to trigger his dorian romance, take cassandra and just give her the heal upgrade on wrath. two templars are pretty awesome and make fade rifts trivial at best

hitting promoted mobs with back to back Templar combos does sound insanely awesome lol, but the bull/dorian thing was something I wanted to do this go around for funsies, gonna max bulls snb along w/ vanguard and some WF masterwork. hopefully that works and I don't have to hit the bullpen. hopefully my Templar can dish out some major deeps so I dnt have have to worry bout bulls spec is my plan lol

yeah it might be doable if you max out vanguard on him and give him both horns. along with payback strike for an extra taunt.

Honestly, you'll have more fun with 2H Templar anyway. 2H Champ is great, but it's all defense. Any epic pwnage comes from abilities that any warrior can have.

Optimizing offense/damage has three priorities for 2H Templar:

1) Wrath/Purge, get the biggest base damage weapon you can find or craft

2) Craft for critical hits, to fuel Flow of Battle

3) Spec for combos. You can self-combo with Pommel Strike and Mighty Blow or Whirlwind

Optimizing defense has two priorities

1) Gain guard: War Cry, Charging Bull, and if you are running in a party, Horn of Valor/Fortifying Blast

2) Heal on hit or heal X% of damage over Y seconds Fade-Touched gear

You can solo demon-fest quests like Here Lies the Abyss with the right 2H Templar build.

Other tips

1) Grappling Chain/Give them the Boot, another primer for combos and LMAO fun

2) Livid, it's practically free since you'll have War Cry and Charging Bull, and it's awesome

3) Be selective about putting Blessed Blades in an active slot. It's great for demon-fest or magic-fest quests, otherwise completely useless

Just curious for your opinion, out of mighty blow, pommel strike or whirlwind, what would you drop for grappling chain? I'm guessing pommel strike since it's also a stun..

I go back and forth. When I get bored of MB, I switch to Whirlwind. And then later vice versa. For the basic combo, MB does slightly more damage than Whirlwind (150% vs 115%), so if you care about max damage, stick with MB.

I'd never drop Pommel Strike. With the upgrade it's insta-hit, insta-stun. Plus if it crits, Flow of Battle kicks in.

yeah and i just thought about it, unless you're fighting a boss or dragon, you dont really need the focus ability mapped, and for those grappling chain is pretty much useless anyway. :-)

i prefer two templars when my inquisitor is one, honestly because i hate blackwall, and i feel he sounds a lot better than he actually is. basically you're trading a taunt and 8 seconds of damage mitigation for a healing AOE stun and a dispel that can potentially cause damage as well as take down barriers. there was a build for tank cassandra a while back that basically had her get the left side of templar tree, upgraded payback strike with turn the bolt, shield wall and bear mauls the wolves, upgraded livid, plus fortifying blast and war horn for guard damage. personally, i trade war horn for upgraded shield bash. while it does 400% less damage to guard, i always travel with an ice mage, so i like having as many shatter detonators as possible.

so I found this thread http://forum.bioware...2?hl= prismatic, start reading when Bigdawg jumps in the convo. lots of input from Bigdawg, Zeypher, and Actionhero112 on Templars. bewtween all the help here from papa and jon and that thread i wont need anymore Templar information for weeks,. its such a shame that REALLY great information is hidden in threads that have titles that have nothing to do w/ that subject. itd be cool if the search here worked different, but it doesn't. I came upon this on random lol

I also used Bigdawg's templar build - effective and fun. Also don't miss this thread: 2H Woes - Help Requested - which made me want to play templar in the first place.

Yeah, Search kind of sucks. If I had read the thing I was looking for but can't remember where it is, I can usually remember enough keywords to find it, but if you are trying to find stuff you never read before, fuhgeddaboudit.

Only put Horn of Valor/Fortifying Blast on one of them. That's actually a nice feature of having two warriors in the party. You can put all the auto-bot buffs on just one of them. You might not want to put War Cry on both even, let just one tank and pull aggro, then the other can go for targets of opportunity. Charging Bull will really be handy for the non-tanking Templar.
