On first playthrough, I was pretty much renegade to the core and told the Council (who survived from my carried over ME1) where they could shove their S.P.E.C.T.R.E status...

I recall during that playthrough that there was one (greyed out) S.P.E.C.T.R.E dialogue option.

Is there any other reason to accept rejoining the S.P.E.C.T.R.Es?


Also, as my new game with a female (Paragon) Shepard is not from a carry-over and the Council are thus assumed to have been killed, will I even get the option to join S.P.E.C.T.R.E this time?

Technically its SPEC.T.RE. SPECial Tactics and REconnesiance

Unless the requisitions officer is still on the Citidel to offer you the Spectre supplies.

I think it matters, I found one small side quest that being a Spectre helps. A Quarian is falsely accused of stealing and you prove her innocent. Afterwards, the C-Sec person still insults the Quarian and if you are a spectre, you can run them off. Spectre and Paragon. It goes something like... "I could get you for obstruction of justice!" " You think you can get a Spectre?" Personally, I thought it was badass!

Yeah, that was the quest I noticed the greyed-out SPECTRE option in!



I resolved it with renegade....

Also when you are interrogating the guy that Thane needs information from you can go Mega-Renegade if you have Spectre status.
