I know I've only been on Omega and back to the Citadel, but it seems to me there are a LOT less random side quests.

I'm not asking for spoilers, but does this change in the later game? with ME, from just exploring, you picked up an entire boatload of quests.

Am I just missing them?

Also, with loyalty, is the loyalty missions the only thing that has an impact on this?

There is hardly and conversation while on a mission and very little on the Normandy.

I love the game overall, but these things went a long way to make the ME universe feel "alive" so I'm hoping I just haven't gotten to them yet.

On a side not, where is the "Search" function on this forum?

You can scan planets for quests, find items or do the loyalty missions that will unlock a new ability for the character in question and improve their performance in the final quest. Your also going to want to gather some upgrades for your ship. You don't have to do that though if you don't want to.

Make sure you talk to everyone and scan all the planets - there are plenty of decent side-quests IMO.

There is usually one planet in a system with an "anomaly" and subsequent quest and a few of these start chain quests off.

Thanks. Right now, I'm just having a blast scanning and getting minerals. No idea if I'll need all of them but it reminds me of Star Control 2 so I may as well lol

You will need lots of delicious minerals to complete upgrades/research - so yes - keep on grabbing them!

I actually got a little tired of the scanning mini game, but I so much of it early on (to get it out of the way) that I didn't actually need to spend much of the second half of the game resource gathering.

There are a few party-based upgrades to get which make the scanning less of a chore - faster scanning, more probes and more fuel is available.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll do a little more story after this system is depleted so, hopefully, I'll get those upgrades then.

Oh and also, it isn't really worth depleting all the planets either.

To start with, I would only mine a planet if the initial scan indicates "Rich" or "good" and don't waste probes on any deposit that isn't hitting the top of the meter.

If you do it this way, you shouldn't have to do too much scrabbling about on low-yield planets.
