As someone who plays exclusively on PS3, and has a lot of experience with Shockwave, I think I can speak with some measure of expertise on the matter. The hit detection on Shockwave is stupid to begin with, the actual affected areas are small, radius evo is, however, not bugged, and hugely helpful. With radius evolution, you can aim the shockwave BESIDE or ABOVE/BELOW the enemy, which creates better hit detection. For some reason, the edges of the shockwave function better than the centre, and the radius evo improves the size of the "better" sections of the shockwave AND help with CC stagger. With the radius evo, shockwave hit detection boils down to accuracy of the player. PS3 NEVER experiences a negative hit detection area like I have heard described on PC, we NEVER get impotent shockwave (assuming you know the way the hit detection works).

TL;DR: The power is 100% reliable, outside of swarmers hogging all the hits, once you know to aim off-centre on PS3.

From what I'm reading, u might be one of the few people that really understand how shockwave actually works. Mb it's simply L2P for the rest of us... Thx 4 that writeup.

'Tis sad, but true. I've spent far too much time studying the mechanics of this game. I used to have a lot of trouble with shockwave, so I looked it up, and found out how the game handles the hit detection of it (Was that really the best they could come up with?). Like everything else in this game, understanding how it works is the first step to using it right. My problem comes in the practice part, I don't have much patience, so some things I just relegate to the "I suck at" pile, like the Talon Mercenary (another stupidly designed creation, slow and exposed animations on a squishy character?!)

I think this thread shows there are many more successes to be had porting PC fixes to PS3 [/background][/size]

:) ..  Think of the peasants.

Peddro.

  • I'd rather live with those predictable ugly bugs from Bioware, everday until eternity, than

  • having the unpredictability of getting some self-centred egos, flooding the public lobbies with their modded, self-optimized & silly fooling around setups. Sure, fooling around is fun, now and then, but that 12 year old personality sillyness seems to be boundaryless meanwhile. You can't blame a 12 year old - only those that do not consider consequences further than their nose is long.

Why should we, with paid licenses, hunt around for clean public lobbies ? That is exactly the reason why I don't play on PC anymore and purchased a (new read old) PS3. If I have an urge for sillyness I can always just fire up the PC and quickly (read : outside my control) find such modded lobby. The last decade I'm not missing that type of fun anymore. That's just me, maybe. I'm open to people having different fun. But respect that we all have different ideas of fun.

-->Here, have my vote to never, ever have modded games for me3p or me:a in ps3 or ps4. [x]

Do you wanna say that, Shockwaves Hit detection is better, when I try to target the center slightly between the enemy, because it works better on his edges?

If you mean, say, aiming between the enemies, not right at them like a gun, yes.

What I am about to say is not how the game handles it, but should help as a mental tool for using it. Imagine that shockwave shoots out in a circle shape, but there is a whole in the middle of the circle, like a doughnut, you want to aim the hole next to the enemy, so the delicious doughy part hits the enemies.

^^ thanks, this is a very good an visual description.

Further on the doughnut explains some strange behaviour (which were different than I imagined before [as cone]).

yeah. It is strange that we missed that one- I just tried shockwave myself a few times and were not that impressed (...voice trails off in a distance whilst the sun sets itself red on the horizon)

I'm sure it's on the server side, but I swear the PUG matchup system is far more idiotic on PC than Ecks Bawks.

I seem to PUG into WAY too many bronze/silver lobbies after executing a Gold search on PC.  Happens rarely on console.

A quick Gold search last night on PC went Silver - out, Bronze - out, Bronze - out, THEN Gold.

Blame it on people changing their lobby settings after starting a lobby, that's why it does that

Ah, so the general playerbase is just more realistic as to their capabilities when opening a lobby on console.  It just happens WAAAY more on PC.

It seems so frequent/common that I was having a hard time attributing it to lobby settings migration.  Maybe it's just me...and all that PCP.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the search system is just buggy. This happens a lot when you don't exit the search screen after changing one of the options. Has never happened to me when I exit when I change it. The other problem being the search getting fixated on lobbies(even empty ones), where it just keeps dropping you into the same lobby.

...search getting fixated on lobbies...

Ack that. The only way I found to break out of the loop, is to create ur own lobby, kill it and search again. This is especially helpful when u want to avoid "no equipment pugs", cobra glitchers, loud mics.

Oh .... Yes ... On topic "Tabbed PC Console commands" : Consoles doesn't allow "teleport" to other areas on the map, this is very useful on solos for kiting enemies like phantoms and dragoons - and technically not explicitly prohibited in the Hall of Fame.

Thanks for that info on the fixated search, will try that next time.
