Hey everyone,

I am new to this forum, so sorry if I'm a little out of place..

 

Anyway, the announcement of Andromeda got me thinking about the possible Romance options for the game.

 

So, my question/discussion is this: What are you looking forward to with Romance options in Mass Effect: Andromeda?

Maybe more options? More detail? More inclusion?

 

Personally, I was honestly hoping that Polyamory would be included in this game. Seriously. I felt like the "cheating" on characters was aggravating, because although it's very realistic, i felt like it was maybe an oversight. Just a thought, I know that it will probably not happen. Too much, too soon could probably cause an uproar.

 

Also, I've seen a lot of people complain about how Shepard can romance basically everyone. However, while browsing the forum, a thought hit me.

When creating your character profile, why not include Sexual Orientation? That way, certain characters are available, certain characters are not. That would also add a touch of realism.

 

Also, personally, I think more "depth" to the romantic relationships would be appreciated. Some of them felt really forced and..weird(?)
Also, asexuality would be an AWESOME inclusion in this next game, because not everybody is interesting in actually getting "physical". I dunno, just a thought.

 

So, any thoughts guys? Disagree? Agree? I would love to hear!

I would like to post a reminder that posters on the forums are not always aware of prior discussions or feelings concerning certain topics. They may be completely unaware of how some thread topics and suggestions have been invoked in the name of trollism.

 

Please, keep this in mind when it comes to threads such as this especially if the opening post claims to be new to the forums. Judge whether you consider the topic worth a reply and if you have disagreements about the topic, post about the topic and do not leap to assumptions regarding the poster of said topic.

I think white privilege is the biggest issue we face today.  In all countries and in all walks of life.  It is NOT first world problems, its a humanity problem and omg if you're born and you are a male....your life is already laid out and you will be successful.  Whens the last time you saw a poor white male?  Exactly.

Isn't polygamy still illegal in most of the western world? I wouldn't hold your breath on them adding that.

 

I approve of the sexual orientation selector. That way they could make the game so you are only hit on by straight or gay characters (or both if you choose bi).

In terms of the options to mark what sexually orientation the main character is as a character creation option is a bit of a lock on your character. It would make some interesting mechanics cause that implies that the NPCs might act differently around your cause of your choice in relationships. But it might also upset people as well cause some unneeded anger towards the game itself. I would find it interesting to see the options I personal might not use it be the fact it might be offered as an RPG option is a get concept.

Don't see the need to have sexual orientation in the character creation screen.
I'm completely opposed to polygamy but it would have to make sense in regards the characters, rather than simply being there to indulge.
I'm dubious about expanding inclusion further, they seem to have made the reasonable strides in recent games to provide choice to the major orientations.
I want to see more depth to romances.
I want to see quality sexual moments, that are integrated into the romance progression naturally, ideally not as a prize at the end.

In terms of marriage yes, but everybody is free to date as many people as they want unless their boy- and/or girlfriends aren't okay with that.

That's not polygamy then, but polyamory. Polygamy only applies in terms of marriage.

We haven't had marriage at all in Mass Effect, let alone polygamy. Assuming you mean polyamory, Bioware has said that it is a nightmare to program so if they ever do it it will be two characters who are already together whom are fine with you joining into the relationship.

Players already do that ingame by choosing whom they pursue as a romance, so there's no reason to add it to the CC.

I agree. Having the world react to the romance while also having more moments that show the relationship growing and deepening would be nice.

While they may not have an actual asexual person as a love interest(though it'd be great and interesting if they did have asexuals, demisexuals, or other parts of the Grey-A spectrum as options), having at least some romances where sex isn't required for the romance would be wonderful.
