I think white privilege is the biggest issue we face today.  In all countries and in all walks of life.  It is NOT first world problems, its a humanity problem and omg if you're born and you are a male....your life is already laid out and you will be successful.  Whens the last time you saw a poor white male?  Exactly.

I must have misread the title of this thread.

I want to express my ideas on romance and how it should be expressed in ME:A. This is my opinion and if you want to disagree go ahead but please be reasonable. I believe there should be a deeper relationship with the person you are trying to woe. More dialogue options and activities for the two of you like dates, romantic conversations, hook ups, etc. My stance on a romance scene is positive but there should be a choice in it. As for my stance on romance options in future games don't limit them. Some people have specific tastes I'm sure and people should have the right to choices but not too many where it gets out of hand. If people prefer a blonde, cool. A brunette, that's fine as well. An Asari with interesting features, whatever you like. Secondly they might as well make all LI's bi. It helps make it fair instead of restricting a single gender to one person. Finally my stance on sex. Bioware shouldn't be afraid if there is skin to be shown. They need to take some stuff from DA:I as well as inspiration from the Witcher. Screw what people and the media think. Intimacy needs to be real. Whether you want intimacy in your relationship or not let it be as real as possible. That's what made me mad about ME3 is that that last intimate moment with my LI could have been better. Also oh yeah after doing it we put our clothes back on and go to sleep. Sorry but I don't think it works like that. I never played the Witcher but they sure know how to make romance scenes right and bioware can learn a thing or two from it. Let it be sexy and cool and not awkward and restricted. And give every LI a fair amount of time and focus, no cliffhangers. No lets do something naughty and fade to black. That doesnt happen in real life. It's an RPG, YOUR story. Let it be told how you want it to be, our way!

I think I've mentioned this before but I'm not sure. I would like it if we get the option to call our LI's to our cabins/rooms and if we get a kissing option like in Dragon Age. And I really hope we get lots of dialogs with them as well xD

Edit: And I hope we get a brunette or black haired LI for the women, I really like dark haired guys xD

That is a good idea. Too much time was spent hanging out with Cullen on the barracks......

Solas is like the only one without a scene like that.  <_<

MEA romances can just look out the observation deck and share a romantic kiss.

Delete it. I know it's late in development and has already been promised as a feature in advertising, but I don't care. The effect of such a bold action on BSN discourse would be as one Biower space waifu so succinctly put it, "totally worth it".

As long as the romances are written better than in the last three games, I'll be happy.

And no, we don't need ridiculous sex cutscenes, thanks. I'd much rather it be implied with kissing and on-top-of-clothes type stuff at the absolute most. The scenes with Cullen and Solas in DA:I were great. More romance than smut. Or, at the very least, please give us the option to turn it off. I'm not a prude - I love a good session - but I'm playing a friggin' video game here. I don't need to see awkward pixelated thrusting. Blegh.

Right on. I may be the minority here, but the "scenes" in the Witcher 3 made me uncomfortable.

I'm all about feels and fluff, no need to sweat and.....stuff.

I'm 100% with you on that.

I wouldn't walk into someone's bedroom and watch them having a good time, so I'm not overly interested in seeing it on any platform - except my own. And maybe if it involves Justin Bieber. Yum.

(Yes, I'm a 32 year old married mother of one. I... should be ashamed)

There are some fans of this series who would likely disagree. A certain overly exuberant quarian fan with a penchant for chemical analysis comes to mind.

Is that how you live? Don't be square.

Don't be an internet troll for her for having some morals. Some people don't need sex right in front of their face all the time.

This has come up quite a bit.

The problem with using a toggle is that it more than doubles the QA required for everything that is impacted by the toggle. In the case of a game that spends more than average resources on cutscenes, this amounts to a very significant increase in development time and costs.

At the moment, the only development scenarios where the toggle is considered economically viable are the ones where including it allows the game to receive a rating that makes it friendlier towards a target audience. For a game like Brutal Legend, a blood/violence toggle allows the game to be easily marketed to young people, making the increased sales cover the additional QA and development expense.

In the case of BioWare, they are content to have a the "M" rating, and don't seem to spend much marketing to kids. The toggle wouldn't pay for itself with increased sales. And since it isn't a question of whether the material is appropriate for the rating, they have made the decision to forgo toggles.

Anything could happen in the next few years, with new IPs, or perhaps a shift in the direction of existing ones. But when it comes to Mass Effect and Dragon Age, the developers have said that they intend to include those scenes, and that they won't be implementing any content toggles.

For now, there's not much you can do if you plan to play the game except to forgo romance dialogue or turn away when the scene happens.

Well, I'm not about to turn away when the scene happens - that's childish and I'm not petty - but I do understand what you're saying about cost. I appreciate it would be tricky to do.

I personally don't see how it enhances the story anymore than a scene with kissing, pushing onto a bed and fading to black would. Why the need for ****** shots, butts and weird grinding? It's a video game not an movie. And even then I think it's unnecessary. In a tv show or film, I find that it completely lowers the tone and puts me off if the smut is relentless. Yay! More women showing off their arse! (On that point, I would be slightly happier if the balance were equal and we saw more men kit-less)

Apparently this makes me a square. Though I think it means I like to keep sex a private, intimate thing shared between two (or three, if you are into it) people. Unless all parties consent to being watched, that is.

For me, the game would benefit greatly from having romantic encounters instead of sexual ones. I'm not adverse to perhaps there being certain options only that lead to a sexual cut scene, if chosen. Or perhaps a member of your party - such as sera/iron bull/Jack - having more intense cutscenes because that's their nature. It should be relative to a character's character, no? Seeing Solas get hot and heavy would have been completely out of keeping.

I found the Mass Effect romances in general to be lacking. Most of the time I cringed at the poorly written dialogue. And most seemed to flirt with the idea of love and it was said it a few times, but it never felt like there was any love there. Garrus' was the only one I felt like there was anything genuinely there between them.

Well you can hate me for saying this:

But it's an M rated game, so if you decide to play an M rated game then you should "expect" the POTENTIAL of nudity IF you choose to romance someone in game, that's just how it is. If you want a game with less "nude" content, then you should probably not play games like The Witcher and Dragon Age xD

The majority of video games rated M don't have nudity, including a lot that have romances.

Read my post again, I said the POTENTIAL of it ;)

You also said you should expect it, and yet the statistics actually have it where you should expect the opposite. Even Dragon Age: Inquisition had romances that didn't have sex and nudity, and some of the ones that did had it be optional. So no, that's not just how it is.

They should let you invite your LI to your cabin so you can pet their face to gain rep with them, similar to the Japanese version of Fire Emblem Fates.

There's no reason we should let the FE fanbase out weird us.
