Hello, I have had Dragon Age Inquisition since the beginning, however, I never made a character I truly liked, I'm trying a Dwarf Rogue atm for the story, but I'm just not feeling it, please tell me the pros and cons of class and race, and heck even gender.
Help me choose my character please!

Female elf Rift Mage for story and romance options. Knight-Ehchanter is okay too.
Male human Templar for story and the other romance options you can't get as a female elf.
For fun-to-play, Qunari DW Assassin. Though Dwarf Artificer is pretty good too. Choose male or female based on romance options. I personally think female has the best options, though Dorian's romance is pretty good too.

I can't flirt with her as a dwarf!?
Sorry, I edited that part out. I was wrong about that -- my current female dwarf can't flirt with her, but it's because of progress in her romance with Blackwall, not because of her gender or race.

What didn't you like about the previous characters you played? What kind of personality do you want your Inquisitor to have? How do you want them to approach the role of Inquisitor? Do you want to play this like more of an action game or a strategy game? Without some context, I could only tell you the kind of Inquisitor I like to play. (If you're wondering: male human Knight Enchanter for my normal playthrough, male Qunari Champion for my dickish playthrough, female elf artificer for my nice playthrough.)

If you don't know what you want, how should I know?
I personally think a Female Elven Mage Inquisitor is a good way to go, especially for story and romance reasons (female elves have access to more romantic choices than anyone else, and some "elfy" revelations later in the game makes it that much more meaningful/impactful for you), but just because it works for me doesn't mean it'll work for you.

Elf
Pros:
- Has the most connection to the storyline, IMO.
- Elven females have the most romance choices, including Solas, who is integral to the story.
- Gets a ranged defense bonus.
Cons:
- Feels less connected to the Chantry/Templar/Tevinter part of the storyline.
Human
Pros:
- Has a strong connection to the storyline (Chantry, Templars, Tevinter, Circles if a mage).
- Is regarded more favourably than any other race.
- Gets an extra ability point on creation.
Cons:
- Feels less connected to the elven part of the storyline.
Dwarf
Pros:
- More resistant to magic.
- Interesting if you want to play an underdog.
Cons:
- The story doesn't deal with dwarven issues to any major degree, except for the Descent DLC, and even that is very cryptic.
- The lack of connection to the Fade strains suspension of disbelief for some plot points.
- Camera angles.
- There are no romanceable dwarves. You can flirt with Scout Harding, but it's barely acknowledged.
Qunari
Pros:
- More resistant to physical damage.
- The Inquisitor NO ONE expects (like the Spanish Inquisit- *gets shot*).
- Qunari feature quite prominently in the Trespasser DLC, which creates a bridge with the next game.
Cons:
- The main story doesn't deal with qunari issues.
- Camera angles.
Tl; dr: I think that a female elven mage who romances Solas makes the most sense story-wise, closely followed by a human male mage who romances Cassandra or Dorian. Knight Enchanter is a good specialization for an elven mage. Rift Mage is a good pick for any mage in terms of story. Any other race/class/romance combination doesn't feel as tied-in to the story to me, but dwarves even less than others. Which doesn't mean it can't be fun!
