When I'm in Skyhold, I see an exclamation point near the front gate in map mode.  When I go to the location, there's no one there -- just bare earth.  I tried going into the dungeons to see if it was indicating something there, but the dungeons don't run underneath that spot.

 

Now when the visiting specialization instructors came, there was one I never talked to before going necro.  Could the exclamation point be a glitch left over from the instructor I never spoke to?  (On a side note, I notice the instructors never leave even after you've chosen your specialty.  What's up with that?)

Could be. At least it sounds like it.

 

Why would they leave? You invited them and they stay as your trainers. (even if you don't need them anymore after you got your spec)

It is because you didn't talk to all the trainers.
