This is a question to all you mighty soloers :

How the hell do you do the devices when soloing on glacier, especially when there are dragoons around ?

I've reached a point where I let myself die when this objective pops out.

 

Goons are so fast and can stagger so easyly 

 

Well, I know that space magic can wipe this objective out, but I'm hoping for other tips

Devices on glacier is a huge pain in the ass, but it's doable.

 

You just have to try to do the same thing you do on the other maps (luring ennemies) but you have to put more effort into it and impeccable timing.

There are other factors that can influence the result like if you have a power that can help you : mines , cloak, drone etc.

Then there's the speed of your character (adrenaline can help on slower kits) and geth scanner helps too.

 

Appropriate use of cobra might be necessary sometimes, and I do mean appropriate as opposed to panicked/rage cobra.

 

Even knowing all of that I think the chance factor is an important one, I'd say my succes ration on this mission on glacier is 2/5....

It's a pain..i normally just die and bleed out....unless you are a character with a stupidly high amount of shields...it's just really draining on resources.

I've decided that, most of the time, it's impossible to successfully complete devices on glacier.

There's a limited number of dragoons respawning - at least W3 and W6. Try to kill them and deplete the dragoonwavebudget first before you try to disable the devices.

Otherwise, ragequit. But not without ragenuke!

Go goon hunting until you hit the cap and they stop respawning. Fantums are still slightly annoying, but you take out their barrier and they'll generally go hide somewhere for a bit, and they can also be CCed with pet powers, for instance.

Really, I find wallhaxing double banshees and scumbag primes more annoying for Glaicer devices than anything Derperus does.

But does Platinum have a Goon cap? I recall a solo were it felt like they didn't have a cap.

Killing all goons is the best bet (cap is 3 on w3 and 6 on w6)

Lol, wait till u have to kill 6 goons and disabling 4 devices .... For once, they ll not spawn behind u, more like behind the atlas in the corridor, but device's side ;p

I mean if QMR, FIC and TNS give those tips, it is certainly things that we can all achieve in a jiffy. No problem, just quickly kill 6 of those horsefly twin spawning hellbat dragoons and then handle the rest of the dirty spawns (like lazy unkiteable guardians) later - easy peezee. Having depleted those,

and as a result, On wave 6, then, it means you have to deal with maybe 2 phantoms after that, and they've unlimited budget. Slow and harmless to kite. Easy peezee... And that atlas ... No prob .. Wave budget also =1

Lolgoons are fast and always hunting for you, so even if they get stuck for a moment, as soon as you move to another spot they "unstick" themselves. Devices are really just about depleting the goon budget and then drawing all the phantrolls into the side of the map opposite of the device. Which on wave 10 is easier said than done with 4 of the b!tches... You also need to keep a missile or two in spare for camping Atlases, especially on Glacier.

If you get it on wave 3 or 6, as others said, go goon hunting.

 

If you get it on wave 10, presse esc -> quit mission -> yes.

You can manuever the enemies to pile behind the atlas.

even against reapers its rough..damn husks

 

For Husks, pick Juggernaut or Volus, both are immune. Juggernaut also helps with 'goon stagger. Hawk Missile Launcher fends off husks, and staggers mooks, just need to face the right direction before doing the device. Pets and Cain Trip Mines also help, as does cloak, though I wouldn't rely on it.

Devices can be a pain on all maps, not only Glacier.

For Platinum I always found wave 10 devices to be worst on Condor and Jade, so much open space and so much damage done by the enemy, Glacier gives a bit of cover at least for most of the locations you get the devices on.

I am no way solo specialist but hunt and kill dragoons before attempting the devices. IFAIK they have a budget (not sure about wave 10) and would be replaced by centurions after you kill enough of them.

 

I find (otherwise lame) Banshees to be PITA in glacier.
