I can only hope. I mean if ME3MP was cross platform it would never die. Maybe I'm dreaming here but if ME3 does become backwards compatible and some how, some way it's opened up to go in between PS3, 360, Xbox One, and PC that would be crazy so I'd guess MEA might just be a game to cross over networks.

This is a co-op game !

XAN has a point there Loufi.
It would be interesting to see the stats for one specific (same person) gamer that plays pc and console and compare his " screen reaction time"
differences on different platforms. Ie how long it takes him to swerve, aim and trigger. I suspect some type of tunnel trigger vision . Ie comparitively close reaction time in a concentric circle but logarithmic deterioration at the edges ( aiming at a square edge corner with an analog stick requires quite amount of compensation and hence time loss)

I guess there are hundreds of these tweakable configurations examples that is missing on consoles - so we're moving further and further away from a simple and x-platform balanced coop everyday.

To even out interfacing differences out you will have to have platform specific builds - ie put a pc player in an atlas to allow balanced coop play, or simply have much larger headbox zones in consoles, but that's not enough.

In short = No. Unless one of the platform communities wants to live alone with severe one sided limitations. Which I doubt.

I wouldn't mind invite-only single player co-op for a two player mode. I had a blast playing ToR with my husband, and we'd just trade off on who got to respond.

I'm good with PC and PS4 being cross platform.

I don't know if I want to play with X Box people.  I don't have any experience playing X Box 1, but when I played on 360 it was literally like a daycare center.  Halo, Gears, and Battlefield 90% screechers.

That's the game not the console.

Well it is possible for games to cross-platform on all three systems at once but from what I understand shooters are not one of these game types that will make it. Shooters will probably only cross-platform between Xbox and Playstation.

But we are all getting over exicited about this information because I don't know if Sony has responded with a "yes" answer for it. I have always said cross-platform between the two consoles for COD and other games on both systems would be great and would make paying for their Network use alot more valuable.

I also see EA delaying some of their games to be the first company to release games with Cross-platform servers.

Notice how the article only references PC as Windows 10? Not as PC?

More and more games are listing this way, as Windows 10 and not PC.

Could this be because eventually at least Xbox and PC's wil run their games from Win10? (I don't have a console, I just assume Xbox runs, or can run, Win10.)

If so, the less fractured the MP is -or becomes - in terms of platform, the better.

IGN also did an article on this and it saids that Microsoft is going to open their servers to allow other networks to join in and right now it will just be PC and Xbox but it is a open invitation for all other networks. This means Sony can accept this invitation. It will be up to the game developers to also allow cross-platform play to work on their game. Their also will be an option on Xbox to only play with Xbox players.

I wonder how this will work with co-op MP that do not have dedicated servers, like ME3MP and DAIMP.

So if MEA has co-op MP, and does not have dedicated servers like ME3/DAI MP, will the PC and the Xbox still be able to join? Other consoles that may not be able or don't run Windows 10?

The majority of co-op or multiplayer with the majority of games that aren't persistent worlds are done with peer to peer networking so I don't see that being an issue at all.

Here is the complete quote from Microsoft

I think they are only saying Windows 10 because of the Windows Store there and that (when it works better) will be a digital storefront for games.  Now it will be up to EA if they want to make PC/XB1 cross platform and I am not sure if Sony needs to do anything to be part this.

First, in addition to natively supporting cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10 games that use Xbox Live, we’re enabling developers to support cross-network play as well. This means players on Xbox One and Windows 10 using Xbox Live will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks – including other console and PC networks.

Of course, it’s up to game developers to support this feature, and Xbox Live players will always have the option of choosing to play only with other Xbox Live players. We’re thrilled to confirm that Psyonix’s Rocket League will be one of the first games to take advantage of this new capability by enabling cross-network play between Xbox One and PC players, with an open invitation for other networks to participate as well.

So my takeaway is that if you aren't using Windows 10, but are using another gaming client you will be fine and since EA requires people to use Origin I think that would qualify as another PC network if EA/BioWare wish to implement this.

I think it'd be a good move to start having cross-platform MP. I'm sure a lot more people will be willing to dive into MP if they can play with their buddies who use a different system.

Mouse&keyboard is way better for FPS games but as long as MEAMP isn't a competitive PvP shooter that would not be big of a problem.

An option to select what other platform is allowed to join my game would be nice, cause being called a f#g twice a wave might be normal on one but not the other platform and some players might not like it as much as  others do, if you know what I mean.

Only if they finally ditch the bass ackwards 100 friends limit on pc, there's no legitimate reason it should be necessary on pc but not console. Other than that this is a really cool idea, PvP wouldn't be fair but PvE should be okay.

yeah that's one of the main reasons why I don't game onlin that and what with my disability holding me back from being competitive. These aer the main reasons why I stay away from multiplayer games

Funny. When I used to play online on the PlayStation 3 I had a similar experience. I still have the same experience on the PlayStation 4. Full of foul mouthed squeakers. They're everywhere. On the PC I've encountered kids on VoIP and immature people in chat. I guess that I'm trying to say that every platform has their share of morons.

So if this happens, peer-to-peer cross platform, what frame rate will rule?
