Or it just won't get fixed - there's a big ol' price tag associated with pushing anything out to SEN or XBL.
Not anymore.

... seems like a step in the right direction from Sony/MS from what I've just been reading.
Pleasantly surprised.
I only want to have the freedom of choice to associate with whom I like - before I waste my time in a game (by having all parameters transparent to me). That simple. You can make foie gras of PC players that spend only 8$/0€ on cheap licenses but I want bang for my buck @ 60€ & 50 €/y psn+ fees.Or it just won't get fixed - there's a big ol' price tag associated with pushing anything out to SEN or XBL and the game would need to be kept compatible across all 3 platforms so it's possible a PC or PS4 patch might not happen because of the XBone version of the game.
What would happen if PS4 players (for instance) were dropped into a modded PC lobby with hundreds of enemies at once? Would they go with it or report it to Sony? or EA?

Not quite sure I see what you're getting at there...
For Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, Bioware already kept the same patch across 360, PS3, and PC. I'm not sure if they ever explicitly stated why, but I'm guessing that keeping their codebase unified made development simpler, especially for a studio working on its first multiplatform multiplayer game.
... and even so things like the Collector crash bug on PS3 or the Shockwave bug on PC were never fixed. What would happen if there was a bug on PS4 that wasn't present on XBox or PC and the PS4 player is hosting? Host crashes and everyone gets migrated?
Not saying it can't be done but it does add extra hurdles to overcome... see how Rocket League copes when the cross-platform support is rolled out I guess.
I may remember wrongly... but as I recall Resident Evil Outbreak 2 mp were migrated between ps2 and pc players both back then and that seemed to work fine. Sure it had occasionally problems but it wasn't THAT bad.

That could be either a good or bad thing, for it could mean that there is more emphasis to fix those problems because it will impact the entire player base and not just one segment of it.
