So, I've been writing some AU, backstory ideas, etc. and reading a lot of great fanfics. And I've decided I should try to compile a little list of dismissive, curt, or insulting nicknames that humans would use for other species in the Mass Effect universe. I must give credit to LogicalPremise, the excellent writer and author of the Of Sheep and Battle Chicken series, my new favorite AU of anything, ever. Some ideas I've taken directly from him, and for the others I've tried to replicate the same unkind, generalizing nicknames that would be fitting when used by FCW veterans, Cerberus operatives, Terra Firma, etc.

Here's the list so far:

-Asari: Blue, Tentacles/ Tentacle Head, Mindfuck

-Salarian: Gray (They were BioWare's explanation for the urban-legend "gray aliens"), Pyjak, Twitch

-Turian: Spike, Bird

-Krogan: Hump, Roundback

-Quarian: Suit (or Suit-rat), Chickenlegs, Doglegs, Buckethead

-Volus: Softball (Because they're physically weak, and because of their appearance), Pincushion

-Hanar: Jelly, BSJ (Big Stupid Jellyfish)

-Geth: Flashlight, Lamphead, Fodderbot (Or Fodderbot 3000)

-Batarian: Four-eyes (obviously), "Target sighted!", Wormface (due to the scaly, uneven, tube-like protrusions), Squints

-Elcor: Knuckle Walker/ Knuckles, Living Tank

-Drell: Frill (Their neck-thing looks like it'll puff out when they're scared), Snake, Frog-boy/ Frog-girl
-Rachni: Bug, Xeno (For the resemblance to xenomorphs)

-Keeper: Crosseyes (Just look at them!)

-Vorcha: Claws, Blowhole (Due to the things in their forehead), Pizzaskin (It reminds me of melted cheese)

-Varren: Fishdog (Thanks, canon Codex!)

-Thresher Maw: Digger, Acid Worm

-Collector: Drone, Mouthless, Deadeyes

-Prothean: Collector Lite, Drone Lite, Buggy

-Yahg: Jaws

-Reaper: Squid

-Leviathan: Squid Lite

-Scion: Sacks, Scrote (For a particularly vulgar interpretation of the sacs on their back)

Adjutant: Sacks Lite

-Praetorian: Chirp, Lasereyes, Crab/ Crabby

-Marauder: Scopehead

-Banshee: Screech, PMS (For the less politically correct)

-Brute: Wormguts (Ever shoot off their center plate?)

-Harvester: Wormneck

And that's about all I have so far. If you have suggestions for changes, additions, etc., please leave a reply; I would love to expand and improve this list! Hope you like the idea.

EDIT 1: Added Heimerdinger's suggestions.

EDIT 2: Added suggestions from SpectrePierogi and bunch1, edited Elcor entry at SpectrePierogi's behest.

EDIT 3: Added HanShotFirst's suggestions.

Here's a few in-game ones (that you have not already mentioned), with the context in which they were used:

"flashlights" - Ashley Williams referring to the geth.

"dog-legs" - Jack, about quarians and turians

"frog-boy" -  drell, Elias Kelham talking to Thane

"pyjacks" - Wrex talking about the salarians. I guess a human could use it too.

"worm-necks" - harvesters, used in ME3, wouldn't count it as an insult though.

Added. Thanks for the suggestions! About the Harvesters, do keep in mind that these aren't necessarily meant to be strictly insulting. Imagine each nickname being used in the context of: Non-human speaks up in the middle of an argument; human turns and says, "Oh be quiet, [insert nickname]." So they're certainly not nice, but not just a put-down. I'd imagine they can be used jokingly as well, if there's enough camaraderie between specific individuals.

Pretty sure someone called an asari tentacle head.

Salarian could go with twitch or spaz

Elcor, your nickname in particular seems way to pop culturish refrencing an actor who had not been active in at least 100 years.  I would recommend something more original like toner for their weight.

Yahg aren't even allowed off their homeworld so I don't see them having a nickname and if anyone met one in a fight they would likely just call them demon.

I changed Elcor to "Knuckles" due to how they walk, and I agree that their nickname felt out of place. I'm still not entirely satisfied with this list as it is, so more suggestions are appreciated. I also added "Tentacles" for Asari, though I've excluded "Twitch" or "Spaz" for Salarians; something about those just doesn't quite fit. As for people not knowing too much about the Yahg, that's a fair point, but then the Salarians were running experiments on them back on Sur'Kesh; there are probably some Cerberus types who've done the same. That said, "Jaws" seems like something James Vega would come up with after fighting one. Thanks for the input!

I added "Buckethead" for Quarians, and "Crab" for Praetorians. Unfortunately, "Bug" is already taken by the Rachni, who are encountered by humans earlier in the ME timeline than Collectors, so they get priority in that regard. As for "Cancer Frog"... Well, I already have "Frog Boy/ Frog Girl" for Drell, so that seems a bit redundant. Thanks for the suggestions! Keep them coming if you think of any more!

You humans are all racist!!! :D

Ok, I can just think of some insults for humans themselves:

- Pinkskin -> ok, blatantly stole that one from the Enterprise's Andorians but it works for pretty much all ME aliens as well

- Furhead  -> I think humans are the only known species in the ME galaxy to have hair on their heads (well, also the quarians but they are already the bucketheads).

I imagine the whole mind-meld thing with the Asari would probably freak some people out, so I could see pejoratives derived from that.

Mind-fvcks, brain-bandits, ect.

Nice ideas. I added Squints and Mindfuck to the list. Brain bandit seems more like something for Leviathans or Reapers, so I'll probably hold off on that one. Thanks for the suggestions!

The problem with that is that there are already some in-universe insults for humans that we hear in-game or in the books. That's for another list. If you have any more, though, keep them coming.

what about Meatbag, then again outside of the geth, any species can be called Meatbag. Yes I am borrowing a term from Hk-47 from Kotor 1 and no I am not returning it.
